Welcome to the Presidential thread for Term 6. Here may be posted requests to me, possibly turnchat summaries and the like, and anything about Presidential matters that warrants discussion. Feel free to make any comments or questions you want to here. The primary goal of this term is to win the game in this month...that's a bit ambitious but I think we can pull it off. I will aim for ten turns per chat but may cut it short due to in-game or RL problems. If the latter occurs during the chat I will likely save and upload the game and pass the save to Fionn or somebody further down the CoC if he's not there.

Presidential Office:
President: Bootstoots
Vice President: Fionn McCumhall
Aide to the President: CivGeneral

Tentative turnchat schedule (EST)*:
Friday, October 3 - 3:30 PM
Wednesday, October 8 - 3:00 PM
Sunday, October 12 - 6:00 AM
Wednesday, October 15 - 3:00 PM
Saturday, October 18 - 5:45 AM
Wednesday, October 22 - 12:00 PM
Saturday, October 25 - 7:00 PM
Tuesday, October 28 - 3:00 PM
Friday, October 31 - 3:00 PM (may be dropped from the schedule)

*Note that EST not equal to EDT. I live in Indiana where we don't have daylight savings time therefore all times are in EST. ;) Here's a conversion table for that into various other times:

PDT: EST - 2 hours
CDT: EST +0 hours
EDT: EST +1 hour
GMT: EST +5 hours
RMT: EST +7 hours

Mara Jade and I wish to sapply to be the Aide to the President :D.

I would like to become mayor of Aureus

Mr. President!

May I offer both my congradulations, and any assistance you may need. There is a link to a cheat sheet in the chat summary of my office that may be of use to you.

I am looking forward to the day in your term when we board our ship to the stars!

-- Ravensfire, former President of Fanatica

Mr President,

Congratulations on your election!

I would like to draw your attention to the upcoming discovery of Fission in approximately 10 turns. At that point, we need to build the United Nations as soon as possible to ensure there are no potentially embarrasing votes for Secretary General, especially if we intend to embark on any offensive military operations.

I think it would expedite our victory to pull the results of prior discussions and polls on wonder placement into a single place, here in your office, so that all of Fanatica can see the plan for our final push into space. :D

Thank you ravensfire and DaveShack for your welcome. :) I will concentrate the next turnchats on the discovery of Fission so that we can build the UN in Aureus and avoid diplomatic victory against us.

I remembered when I was playing the Tourney that another civ has built the UN and there was no diplomatic victory to them. Some how I think that the AI does not know how to vote when it builds the UN.

No, I believe they just vote when they are almost certain of victory. If all the nations in the world are annoyed with them, they won't hold the vote.

Pollution cleanup will be the first priority for our workers. :) I encourage worker advice from Domestic and the Governors.

Mr. President,

I am dissappointed that you did not hire entertainers or adjust the luxery slider as needed after the loss of a luxery trade. Failing to do so has put many of our cities into disorder causing a loss of a turn of production. I do hope you will follow this matter more closely in the future.

I couldn't have done a thing about it or to prepare for it. China declared war on us suddenly during their turn, and when it became our turn disorder broke out all over the empire because of the unexpected loss of Furs from China due to their declaration of war. As soon as this happened, I stopped the chat at the request of several people, including our Domestic Leader.

Reposting yesteday's chat summary:
This was an eventful turnchat for sure. At the start of the chat, we signed MA's with six other nations as agreed to by general consensus in the previous discussion thread. We fired artillery at German, Japanese, and Babylonian ships to ward them off and attacked them with Destroyers and Battleships (of which we didn't lose a single one, I might add). Not a single troop landed on our soil this chat, due partly to naval action against them (we sank two transports and a galley) and also the MA's we signed diverted them to other targets. England was destroyed within a few turns by Germany (predictably). We also disconnected the Babylonian oil several times with our Bombers in Persian Landing. Also, we discovered Computers and Fission, so we are now able to build the SETI and the UN. Germany and Babylon also have Computers and are building the SETI. Finally, we sacked Edo with our planned invasion force and built the new city of Spiceland in its place, though we took moderate losses in the attempt (approximately 5 tanks). I disbanded two of our transports for a harbor in that city; it has all the shields needed for a harbor.

My understanding is that when you are not using the governors in the game, you get one turn of "forgiveness" before the disorder takes affect. So in this case, China declared war on thier turn. On our turn, our cities would not have been affected yet by the loss of the luxury even though if you went into a city you would see that there were more unhappy laborers than happy ones. The following turn the city would have went into disorder if the problem was not fixed. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.
