Can't load the game, hangs on the leader screen half the time and hangs while loading the other half. Not sure if anyone else is having any issues. If other people can log into the game, then if someone wouldn't mind pausing to get a little more time that would be appreciated... as I'm going to bed now and can't try again for about 7 hours (slightly after when the turn is currently set to flip).

Actually, really you'd think that by this point they would have fixed the pause bug with online games. I guess they didn't playtest that part of the game particularly thoroughly.
I notice that the site seems to be intermittently down lately... I presume it's all these darned new folks with their newly purchased Civ5 games putting extra pressure on the CFC server.
Such a shame that Civ5 doesn't have Pitboss on release, actually... but that's a different matter altogether...

I'm away for the long weekend (it's a long weekend here anyway), and would appreciate a sub for a couple of turns as I really don't trust the AI. Am I right in guessing that no-one reads this thread who isn't already in the game so it's technically the worst place to look for a sub? Does anyone know a better place?

Not really. It's fairly difficult to find a sub over the internet at the last minute, let alone a decent one. Best bet is usually a friend who plays the game.

Nice -- I found out via experiment that you can change the pw of a civ by pausing before kicking to AI, and the AI does not take over and mess up a turn for the player. Though I also found out that if the target civ has diplomatic messages, the pause technique has some sticky points.
