TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

for example:
in the Ancient Era you can start as the Romans
In the Modern Era you can't start as the Romans because they don't exist anymore, instead you can start as the Italians.

I believe that's what TET has in mind. Specifics I'll leave up to him, but that's the concept, yes.

Tet, one question please. The start points are all good (and some!), but I'm REALLY hoping that you will include a 'classic' edition of your mod, which is simply your old 'world map and cities' biq (on your new map, of course).

The start points are an EXCELLENT idea, but the oridinal TETurkhan mod creation of 'world map and cities' with 31 civs from the carthaginians to the aztecs on the same map would remind all of us of this legendary mod's origins.

Thanks!

hi wurkwurk,

One of the start points is right at the begining just like the original Test of Time :). All start point play out until the modern era. I was thinking of making a futuristic scenario but in many ways the Lost World Scenario is already it :)

Another Sneak Peak! (a part of the Lost World Scenario's story):

In the year 2071 astronomers on Earth make an astonishing discovery of a tiny planet, the 10th one of our solar system called ‘Sedna’. It is soon learned that one of Sedna’s meteor moons is on a collision course with the Earth. All of humanity braces for the inevitable. Millions flock to Churches, Mosques, Synagogues & Temples fearing the Apocalypse –the end of the world –the day of reckoning. In many areas looting and rioting run rampant as complete anarchy ensues. Governments desperately try to rally their people, and in the face of certain doom reason prevails. For the first time in human history all nations of the world put aside their differences and scramble to find a way to save what they can of humanity. Scientists work around the clock, desperately exploring all options until a plan is devised. Great stasis chambers will be built and placed deep underground through out the Earth – with the hope that some of the humans inside will be able to survive. The European Union as well as other Economic Organizations each mobilize materials & manpower in order to undertake the creation of the stasis chambers. Committees are formed in order to select the finest people from each ethnic and cultural background. Scientists, engineers, all the greatest people in humanity are selected. The stasis chambers are set to initiate after the impact once the environment stabilizes.

so TET, the preview is assuming that all nuclear weapons are disabled, and that you start with futuristic weapons. right?

EDIT: 500th post! [party]

Sounds Great. ... mass rioting.... GREAT stasis chammber.... European Union... sounds like a really bad govermnet, a great wonder and a Civ to me.

i think it is a bit strange, that the world has sooo many nukes, and an asteroid comes and they don't even think about nukeing it?

What if the nuke is so powerfull the meteor explotes in to thousand of pieces, now we have a meteor shower.

well, a great majority would burn up in the atmosphere, or they can blow the nuke up near it, so it changes it's course.

A majority would burn up, but a meteor the size of a moon and blown up would still make some pretty big meteors that would hit multiple targets and cause just as much damage as 1 big one. The swarm could take longer to end it's devastation as well sa they would be scattered. Not to mention wiping out satellites like crazy, etc.

EDIT: Changing it's course idea would be the best choice. ;)

*notes that we do not have nuclear weapons that powerful, anyway*

How many nukes would it take to shatter a mountain? Sure, they're powerful. But mountains- and the kind of asteroids that could damage us- are a LOT bigger.

Anyway, from what I understand, our current weapons could definitely not destroy an asteroid of appreciable size, and probably couldn't change their momentum enough to make them miss us, either.

all we need is about 20 thermal nucler weapons or something to push it off course, and the us and russia have enough nukes already to end all life on earth about 50 times over.

I was wondering if we could move on from this topic - hate to see people flip through pages of debate on whether or not a meteor could or could not be put off a collision course with the Earth. It would however make a great movie or wait there already is a movie made on it! :D
