TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

I have been playing the TETurkhan scenarios for the past weeks and its simply awesome. I downloaded the maps TETurkhan - The Lost World (World Map 256 x 256).biq and moved it to the scenarios folder but i can't find it when i open up my "Load Scenario". does anyone know what should i do or have i miss out something

I am playing PTW and have downloaded the 1.66update and 1.93update

Umm, you pretty much don't.

Most people have conquests already, so not many people bother to make maps for PTW. Plus Conquests is much easier to mod, and is really cheap now.

Yes, I was eagerly anticipating the new one. Just a couple of things with the scenario as it stands:

Isn't southeastern Europe too large in terms of population? I know there were tribes settled along the Danube, but I think a city like Budapest didn't grow to those epic sizes (high 20's, so over a million).

And also, it seems some important cities have few or no resources:
Manila, Phillippines
Manchester/Liverpool, England
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (cannot even be built, actually)
Lagos, Nigeria
San Francisco, USA
Miami, USA
Denver, USA
Seattle, USA (also sustained sizable populations in Pre-Columbian times)

and other regions were a bit over represented like:
Abyssinia/Ethiopia
Southeastern Europe
Early Moscow/Ryazan
Early Baltic

Just my thoughts. I am speaking more out of biases and general observations that hard research

It had 54,000 people at around 1800 AD... :crazyeye: Over a million is just crazy. It got over a million between 1925 and 1980, and significantly decreased after 1990. :)

This is almost the scenario I've been wanting to play for a long time. I used to play on Marlas map, restarting over and over until my civ started in the right place. I've played civ4 and didnt like it...then I saw civ complete and found this mod, its almost exactly what I wanted.

I like most of the map. It needs the Pyrenees mountains...it has what looks to be Gibraltar in Spain, but no Pyrenees. Also whats with the forests? I know the world started with large forests but they seem to have stayed until modern times. The automated workers plant 'em like crazy if you cut them down.

The units...I love the new units! Lots of new WW2 units, lots of new asian units. But what is up with the modern naval units? Battleships cost 10,000 sheilds? I dont think I could produce 1 before the game ended, I dont have 400 turns to waste on 1 unit. And the rest of the modern naval units are little better...Wonders dont take as long to build as these things. I know they are more powerful than before but come on... In the weeks I have been playing I have only seen 1 Chinese destroyer and I destroyed that on the first turn I saw it with bombers. You need to build a carrier to guard the massive investment in time/money you have spent on the surface fleet. But good luck producing jet fighters to put on the carrier. I know that in the real world modern navies and airforces are expensive in build and maintain but this is way over done. Hell, the US would still be building the Iowa class battleships they started in the 40's and they'd be on schedule for completion some time in the early 2200's. This needs to be fixed, it effectively puts these units out of the game.

Has global warming been taken out of the game? I used to use it as a weapon if I was losing, producing as much pollution as possible to ruin everyone elses territory.

The dinosaurs are cute...I couldnt believe it when one came out of the dark and ate my jaguar warrior exploring the amazon. I had one of those "Did I just see that?" moments. The damn thing ate a bunch more before it went down.

I'd like to throw out an idea, why not include speculative technologies instead of future tech? Maybe it cant be done in civ 3, but it would be interesting to play. Maybe a speculative AI tech can be used to produce robotic units...or a Nanotechnolgy advancement to increase sheild production. Or an asteroid deflection tech that can be used as a weapon...Or a Tesla weapons advancement to really screw things up.

Maybe these things have already been addressed in this thread, but its 119 pages long...I have a lot of reading to do...

The formula TET uses to determine mountains are based on their height. From X-Y height, they are hills. From Y-Z height, they are mountains. >Z heights are snow capped mountains.

The forests were the ones that were in like 5000 BC. But that's just how the game works. They just aren't cut down fast enough.

And the ships were intended to be "bought" with lots of money. I personally leader farm to build them.

No, global warming is still in the game. Just that the world is massive and huge, so it takes a while to work effectivly.

Yeah, comic relief. And I have these massive slave hordes by sending explorers down to Africa and Asia to capture barbarian workers.

Well, there is like Mech combat Power armor or something in the DL on the 1st page. Like 1.93 or something of that nature. (that one's not included in the Civ PTW disk)

TET came back for a while. And then left. So maybe.

Anyone know whats up with the Japanese Zero? It costs only 40 sheilds but kills off 12 citizens when I make one, and I'm not hurrying production...is this a bug or something deliberate? If it was intentional what was the thinking behind it? I dont have nearly enough population to make the number of fighters I want.

I thought it was not intended, so I changed that in mine.
