TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

Just downloaded the update and it looks like the egyptians are missing a capitol. I'm not real experienced with the editor, but all the civs have a circle around their capitol city except the egyptians. The game loads up, then it gives a message saying the egyptions have been eliminated and then crashes when playing regicide mode.

That is really strange, I had double & Triple checked start locations, so how that was missing is beyond me?

Nevertheless I made the changes and 1.67 BIX update has them included. Thanks for the heads up!:goodjob:

I am impressed, your first post in this forum and you picked it out!

Just one problem with the map (maybe this has been pointed out)

You can get from europe to the new world with only mapmaking. (via greenland)

Historically, Nav. or at least astronomy should be req'd

But I think the vikings did exactly this, taking the Greenland route with trirremes and reaching North America.

A sidenote: Dinosaurs in South America? I am from Brazil and feel ofended.;)

There is a fine line between guiding game play in the scenario and over limiting it where then the Civs become less dynamic. I put mapmaking in light of early Viking voyages. I did however plague the Atlantic Ocean with Pirates so it isn't as simple (shouldn't be), settlers costs fortune in the mod, I know myself I *** bricks when risking a galley with a few settlers across pirate invested oceans. Big gamble but if it pays off fantastic.... Or is it? remember Iroq & the multitude of Indepdent Native tribes inhabit the New World. Until you get a stronghold in the New World you can at anytime be over run by hordes of natives. :)

I will review it though, a possible solution could be to make Greenland smaller since it is over sized. The thing is I don't want to elminate any chance of Vikings making the voyage. Let me think this one over a bit and I will let you guys know if I change anything.

Dinosaurs in South America - all that jungle I couldn't resist. You guys got the worst of it too, the mighty T-Rex. You know that you don't have to kill it. You could choose to leave them alone. Kind of like a wild life park with Dinosaurs :)

Lastly, I made some recent fixes in a very short time and want to apologize for it. I had changed terrain attributes to not allow cities on hills (was done to speed game up). However some Civs had start points on hills and the settler got stuck, just noticed this and fixed it right away (version 1.68 has this fix included).

I don't like to keep putting up new updates but this is the first week people are getting a chance to try the mod and this sort of thing is to be expect especially considering the depth and detail of the mod.

I love you Teturkhan!

Looking forward to buying PTW after finals to try your mod. I wonder how much you increased PTW sales? You should be proud.

To those who have PTW... I read that Teturkhanou added some additional units or reduced the costs for some civs? Anyone with some time on their hands feel like making a post that lists the different units for the different civs along with stats and costs? Might be a fun morsel for us that do not have PTW yet, and a good reference for those who do!

I've tried using WinRAR but it just doesn't work. Is there any way you could make this a WinZip file?

Is there a readme to tell us what the changes to unit stats etc are?

Other than that, best map and mod I've seen, ever! :goodjob: :goodjob:

What operating system are you using? (respond to me by email pls) teturkhan@hotmail.com

Furthermore this goes out to everyone. If you have technical problems please email me instead of posting here. I would like to keep the thread informative as possible dealing strictly with the game itself rather than download problems etc.

thanks

10/10 :goodjob:

You think 7-10 seconds per turn is slow?

I'm currently still in BC and it takes at least 1min a turn!

I have games taking upto 3-4 minutes between turns. The mod is very in-depth, only the fastest systems will be able to get away with 31 civs on a giga sized map.

ways to cut back wait time:

1- drop the amount of Civs
2- play world version with out the cities (city version is by far the most demanding time wise)
3-play just the mod and choose random map (pick something smaller - you still get all the units etc but on a random map)

Good news is I am looking to put the mod on a medium sized world map which should make huge difference in speed. If you know of any good medium sized maps let me know.

Hello Thunderfall and Teturkhan,

It worked. :) AFter 1 minute it was done.

press Alt-Ctrl-del --> processes and wait until the setup.exe ist finished. :crazyeye: But so your sure, its done.

Another question, I have downloaded a minute ago the new version (1.68) but just the 3 BIX after overwrote my old BIXs in the scenario directory. Is my current game affected with the new Version, or do I have to start a new game?

BIX Update will not interfere with current games .

BIX updates offer me an opportunity to fine tune the mod, address minor problems etc. That is why you will see it continually updated. There is no urgency to download it right away, but if I were starting a game or near the begining of one, then I would.

but can you again summarize:

a) where the latest mod is
b) how you install it
c) what files you MUST manually backup if you want to play other players later who do NOT have this mod (i.e. restore system config to be compatible with retail version)
d) if it works with PTW v1.04.

Thanks.

A - first post in this thread
B- refer to the first post in this thread
C- once the primary update is installed you should be able to play with anyone, mind you I think they would appreciate playing with the latest BIX.
D- yes it does works with 1.04, most mods should... but I would wait until the next patch before trying it

So much for getting people to email me with download specific questions :)

if anyone has any further questions regarding download problems or needs instructions above and beyond what is posted in the begining of this thread drop me an email teturkhan@hotmail.com, other wise I simply wont answer :p

HOLY MOLEY

*tries to find a way to smuggle a 56mb file from the office to home*

only got a lowly 56k at home.. not practical to download at home :(

You don't happen to be able to put it on a CD and ship it to me? haha just kidding :P

I've got a 56 K also, the only way I can download it is with 3rd party program like Fresh Download (in case I lose the connection) and then leave the computer downloading the file while I go to work. Its usually done by the time I get back home. Or sometimes, I leave it on overnight for the mods to greet me in the morning.

hrm ok question...

I hope this wasn't asked but I really don't have enough time to read through all 12 pages of response...

with map size 256x256, how much of a problem is the hardcoded limit on number of cities? What about level of corruption over a big empire... say for example if I could grab enough land to the equivelant of the old USSR?

Any progress on the Americans being included in the mod only? That would be GREAT! I cannot wait to actually play the mod :)
