TGOM03 - Celts in Space (C3C Demi-god)

Does that mean I can automate the workers???

:mischief:

Actually, if you set a half dozen or so to automated clean-up (we don't have any volcanoes, do we?) they will run to the polluted tiles and you can then direct the rest of the work force to follow. Saves having to peer at the map or the invisible pop-ups to find them.

Turnlog continued after turn 7:

IT - Apollo Program comes in...Tiwanaku -> arty, Camulodenum offshore platform -> SS docking bay, swap TJvill to SS engine, GOC to SS cockpit.

8. 1540ad - Found Fishville east of Airfield City -> harbor. worker moves.

IT - Watch Carthage's ironclads sail around American islands.

9. 1545 ad - Dial up Joanie and sell her Aluminum for 54gpt. worker moves

IT - American and Carthage sign peace.

10. 1550ad - Found AnotherTown west of Airfield City -> temple. I think I officially completed improving all tiles on our main continent and started stacking them up near GOC for future pollution detail.

I think the MMing is pretty close for Nuclear Power in 2 and maximum growth in ex-America. @Bede...lotsa temple builds in Ex-America, but you can have fun changing them. :p

Lordy, lordy. lordy, lady. That's a lot of really big buildings.

And I really liked the way you killed the other guy's economy's by selling everything except luxuries. And that is a really nice pile of cash in the bank. Now what do I want to spend it on? :hmm:

Got it, play it tomorrow.

Now, everybody go congratulate themselves on a really decent demigod launch date on a continents map. If you have any doubts about that one go take a look at the HoF. And consider this: the HoF players roll the map seven ways from Sunday and hand pick the opponents.

You make that sound like a bad thing :p

oh yeah most of us will toss a game if we do not get a SGL on the first 3 or 4 techs..

@Mistfit, 'snot a bad thing, just a slightly different way of playing the game. I just prefer playing the hand I am dealt.

The two games I submitted were set up for climate and land form (I hate jungles and pans) and I did choose the nation, but were otherwise random, and I played the first map rolled.

And I do admire the way the HoF gods can squeeze the last bit of juice from the pomengranate they pick.

Temples made sense in ex-America when we were still being overwhelmed culturally, but I know they aren't needed now. You taught me how to build specialist farms (thank you very much, Sir), but I haven't a clue how to manage them in a situation like we have here on another continent.

I think I understand that pop growth is the most important for growing more gold/beaker producers, but what should be the priority for builds? I don't think we need more workers and probably not many more settlers. Something like arty wouldn't complete before the game is over and buildings just cost maintenace. I'd be very curious to see your save for turn 1 or 2 to look at the details of what you do with all those new towns. It probably wouldn't matter so much in this particular game where we're so close to our SS and are dominating the other civs, but might be very useful knowledge in a future game.

There is the nasty little secret called "Wealth". though given the cash hoard you are turning over I don't think even that tactic is warranted.

And so the rich just get richer, huh? I'd always wondered when wealth made good sense. What a terrible problem to have. :hmm:

Thank you. :)

This game is an embarassment....it got too easy in the end game. All we have to do is keep relieving the chumps of their spare change every five turns, buying all the luxuries we can find to keep the people happy, set the research slider at 100%, hire all the scientists we can outside the shield producers, and watch the parts build.

Robotics comes in in two I think and Nemausus is doing a funcky chicken build as a pre-build for a manufacturing plant. Make sure to swap it out on the inter turn so we don't get a hospital or something else we don't want.

Nuclear plants were built on every productive riverbank. Put up manufacturing plants in the towns where it will take the longest to build the Robotics space ship part, then watch the shields roll in.

WE will be able to drop the research allocation once we learn Robotics as we go back to picking up 8400 beaker tech instead of 10000+. That will take some strain off the happiness budget too.

Only things of note were the resetting of all specialsits outside the core to scientists, and to cops inside the core, trading new tech as it came up and shifting the trade deals to tech for lux instead of cash or other luxes. Joanie did hold me up when I wanted to buy her spices though, so she ended up with a luxury in the deal. If Scout wants to give her a hug, though, he will have to wait 20.

Built a couple of towns on the other continent, just to fill some holes. We are about 150 tiles from doination so I don't think it's an issue but keep an eye on pending expansions just in case. Most of the research Lab expansions went into the sea and those tiles don't count and the others were interior.

From here on out it's a matter of parceling out the parts and wathcing the borders in the NW. Hannibal is excursioniung his navy out that way so there are artillery, bombers and jet fighters keeping an eye on things, and Scoutsrest is still building tanks in case he gets restive.

Some nice relaxing turns coming up....

Here's the space ship:

Roster check:

scout - more parts
General - and the last part
gmaH - flatlined Abe
Bede - parts 'R us

After turn 2, all the citizens became happy again for no reason I could discern, so I went back and reassigned the specialists.

That's as far as I got and I'm too tired and fuzzy-headed to continue tonight.

Slacker.

Impressive game all. Fun read too.

Mr. Venerable, if you wouldn't mind, 'splain this using smaller words

As "Murphy" would say: The important things are always simple. The simple things are always hard.
If Scout wants to give her a hug, though, he will have to wait 20.
This assumes she stays on her porch... which is not always her strongest suit.
Some nice relaxing turns coming up....
I've got a nice glass of Merlot, and a big fat Puro Hondureño... I'm due for a relaxing turnset.

"Got it."

I think what I meant to say was not what you heard me say at all :crazy eyes:

There were some ongoing deals where we were selling luxuries for coin. So instead I sold them tech for coin or sold them tech for luxuries. Didn't want to feed the beast but we needed the happiness as insurance against having to drop the science slider until Robotics comes in. After Robotics the techs get cheaper so there is probably room to move. It's not that we couldn't afford the happiness tax, it just that happiness increased the learn time.

Why do I have this picture of scout as Daddy Warbusck?

Pre-flight check... Highlights:

F11 Grumply Old Capital is now the #3 city in the world, and we are #1 in every stat that matters (to me).

Hannibal won't offer more than 30g for a tech. Our Iron trade is open...but I suspect he'll develop a native source soon.

IBT - TJ'ville completes a NucPlant, starts a bank. Entremont completes a NucPlant, starts a Police Station. Camulodunum NucPlant>Cruiser Mayhemium NucPlant>Police Station Bede's Abbey Factory (?) >Police Station Last Resort Bomber>Police Station

Turn 1/1605 Hannibal will trade WM+32gpt+90g for a tech. Any tech. I have an idea... let's see if we can speed this Space Race up a bit. I sell Hannibal Nuclear Power, and then sell Computers to France for the pittance of 7g...no, that's too much of a pittance. I give it to her. That takes her from "Furious" to "Annoyed". Same deal for Hannibal, though he's still "Furious".

IBT - Robotics comes in, Swap Richborough, Nemausus, TedJacksonvile... and some other cities to Manufacturing Plants.

Turn 2/1610 Richborough starts the Stasis Chamber, due in 4. Dial up Hannibal and give him Space Flight. He's still Furious. Set the queue to Ecology, due in 4. Upgrade most of our Cruisers to AEGIS, for free.

Thinking about the way the AI like to clean out first tier techs...I set the queue to Superconductors, due in 5.

IBT - Hannibal wants MPP and ROP, He gets 10g as a gift. We build some stuff.

Turn 3/1615 Arausio founded.

IBT- Nemausus: Manufacturing Plant>Stock Exchange

Turn 4/1620 - Our "friends" have not discovered anything useful this turn. I'm tempted to sign a bunch of MPPs just to add some interest to the game...

IBT - French start Manhattan Project.

Turn 5/1625. With nothing to whack, I take a screenie of a French sub that tempts me. I upgrade some Artillery this turn.

tgom3_French_sub.jpg

IBT - Carthage and France sign MPP. We complete some stuff, including a spaceship part.

tgom3_fr_carth_mpp.jpg

Turn 6/1630 ...clean some pollution.

IBT - Superconductor comes in, set queue to Satellites. Due in 4 at 100%.

Turn 7/1635 Repositioning some stuff...some transports...in case we need to send some Marines in somewhere.

IBT - Manhattan Project is Completed.

tgom3_Manhattan.jpg

Turn 8/1640 ...clean some pollution, queue up some spaceship parts.

IBT - We complete another spaceship part at Nemausus.

Turn 9/1645 ...more pollution...

IBT - French want MPP+RoP...get 10g instead.

IBT - We complete another spaceship part.

tgom3_latest_spaceship.jpg

Turn 10 - Ratchet science down, Satellites next turn. Set Nemausus (2nd most productive city) to a TacNuke as a pre-build for SS Thrusters (320s, Nemausus produces 84spt...)

Remaining Spaceship Parts:

Storage/Supply: 160s - this can be built just about anywhere...in our most productive cities in 2 turns...
Exterior Casing: 640s - use an ICBM, Battlefield Medicine, or Army as a pre-build at Richborough, Nemausus, or TedJacksonville; all are producing 80+spt. Scratch that. Start a Palace at Richborough on the 2nd turn (after training a Marine) as a pre-build for the SS Exterior Casing. We'll have a shield over-run... but so what?!?!?! The SS part that is available with Satellites can be built any one of a number of places...

It's endgame. Launch the dadgum ship, mon general! Here's >>> The Save <<<.

I'll bet you could hardly stand not stirring up a war just for the fun of it. I'm proud of your great self-restraint! :p

@General M... If by any chance there's a turn or two left at the end of your set before launch and if there are no objections from Bede, I'd say continue on. Last time I tried to do a launch I got a windows error and couldn't do it. :(

I have the save. There's a chance that I may have to post the save the turn before launch, I've only had 1 game out of many space wins that didn't crash me to windows. Permission to nuke the world on the last turn if I can build a few nukes?

Why don't you check back in about 8.33 turns, and ask for forgivness?

(Just tack a "Torananga says 'hi'" on the side of an ICBM, and I'm sure Bede'll be okay with it...)

@General M... Since neither of us has much luck with actual launches, maybe we should ask our Glorious Leader to do the honors. :D

The world is your oyster, General, slurp it!
