No he isn', I think I simply missed it when I mass produced the units... Almost 100 in two weeks....

I will correct it when I have time, right now I want to take a break and work a bit on my mod.
And you think that is taking a break..? ;) *cough*workaholic*cough* Give your poor abused brain a chance to heal a long way away from whining civvers like me, you know that we know that you deserve it! :D

Almost 100 in two weeks is unprecedented and frankly astonishing, and the best part is that they're so darn goodlooking too! I love the old Cossacks units, but with these new you're setting a new, even higher standard.
I salute you, Sir! :goodjob:

I'm simply converting units. The only thing I can accept congratulation for is the writting of software tool that convert "automatically" the files.
The screenshot below show 6 of the 292 pictures that make the trapper run animation (and it has only 16 frames). You can see that:
- The Animation itself is on one picture, but with blackground, and some parts of the animation are black also (same palette color and index, so a simple replacement with Magenta does not work).
- The second picture includes the shadow and a kind of overlay to find what is background what is animation in the first picture.
- The size of the pictures is not constant
- They are not centered
- There is no East orientation
- The size is bigger than CivIII.

Imagine the work needed to convert all this into CivIII animation with up to 62 frames!

My little program does this almost automatically : I need about 5 second to generate the storyboard for the trapper. Then, it's manual editing of the palette, and use of Flicster to adjust the speed and make the FLC.

But that's very simple and "stupid" task, I don't think I really deserve congratulation. I didn't make the units.

If you to thank someone, here is the email address of GSC Game Wolrd Company support@gsc-game.kiev.ua. They made the animation in the first place, then they give me the authorization to convert Cossacks and American Conquest units, and even provide me with their own tool to help me extract bitmaps from their graphic package.

So perhaps a few email to thanks them, tell them how nice you find their units, and perhaps that through my work you discovered their games could be appreciated by them (and make them think they were right to do so, and it could be an incentive for them to do this with latter games).

I've find this very nice of them : when I think of Firaxis that doesn't allow us to use PTW animation, and I compare it with GSC that say "sure, no pb, you can use or graphics however you want, as long as you give us credits"...

Well said, Steph... and they're such detailed, beautiful units. It's
actually a pleasure, rather than a chore, to add them to my mod
and witness them interact in-game. Each unit you convert my
reaction was the same,. (except for the Iroquois Shaman,
whereupon seeing it my reaction was something like :groucho: :love2: .

Little suprise : as I was doing some civilopedia pictures for some of these guys I have included in my mod... I've done them all (almost).
Check the very first post of the thread for the download link.

I don't think I'll make a complete unit32 before a long time, only some of them will be included in my mod.

There are a few shadow pixels around the edge of some units. As the shadow color is green, they appear green in Flicster. However, in game (or if you try to use alpha blending in Flicster), these pixels are shadow, and don't really appear. Or at least they shouldn't

Amazing job Steph.

Probably someone already point this, but i will say one more time:
There is no Attacka.flc in French Fusillier Link...

Anyway is an amazing unit, even better than the "cossacks col." one...

Steph, i know how busy you are with your megaprojects, but i will ask for a no civ collored french musketeer...
I play with blue on Frenchies, so, in my mod this unit lost his "blue+red" classical combination...

Like me, probably many use blue to France, so if you have time, and if more people agree with this humble post, it's said.

Thank you a lot anyway.

I downloaded some of your units and added them to my mod. However, every time I click on one of your AC units in the build marquee, the game instantly crashes. Other units that I have downloaded from this site (such as those made by wyrmshadow, ripptide, utahjazz, BeBro ect.) work fine. I don't know what could be causing the crash and I would realy love to get these units to work. (I use Windows xp home ed., ge-force card, have 512 megs of RAM, athlon AMD 2200 procesor).

Actually, all of these units work fine now. It is only the US Fusillier that wont work. Which kind of bums me out because that is the unit I covet the most.

Could you be more specific, and tell how it doesn't work? What happens?

Every time I click on the US Fusillier unit in the build marquee, the game instantly crashes. This is the only American Conquests unit that I have had cause this problem. The units, by the way, are excellent!

My conversion plan is as follows:
- Fight back Mounted flag and mounted officer
- Fight back musketeers
- Fight back fusilliers
- Fight back officers
- Fight back drummers
- Fight back flags
- Fight back haida
- Fight back pike
- American conquest hunters
- Remaining priests
- All peasants

Cool cool... I'm just curious as to why you warrant the drums and
flag units a higher priority than the pikes and Haida. (?) It seems
the latter would have more potential uses to more people.

Because they follow a more standard pattern than the peasant, and so are faster to do.

Steph,
I don't mean to be nit-picky because I really love these units (they are excellent flavor units for my Mod)...
But, IMO, there's an animation file missing in the download ZIP for your French Fusillier (AC_FusillierFrench_1_0).
I haven't had a chance to check the unit in-game, but in your INI file you call out two attack FLCs (A and B) and you reference two different WAV/AMBs for them as well. Guess one is for musket attack (you reference the Rifleman WAV) and the other is for bayonet attack (you reference the Pikeman WAV).
I can't find the AttackA.FLC - seems that's the musket attack one.
Can you update your upload zip?

Thanks a bunch!
