The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

Sorry, I need to make a correction. Viriato (Viriatus), was the leader of the Lusitanian people, and not leader of the Iberians. Viriato, lived mostly in the actual Serra da Estrela (Mountain Range Star), which is in fact Portuguese (old Lusitanian) territory, not Spanish. Most of the old Lusitanian territory is actual Portuguese land, so he was more of an ancient Portuguese (the Portuguese people can be called as Lusitanians even in the actuality), than an old Spanish…

There were an Iberian leader called Viriato, in Spanish, who was murdered by order of Caesar, because he was still fighting against Rome.
He was killed by one of his men, bribed by the romans (well, in fact, he was never paid, when he went to take his money Caesar said "Rome doesn´t pay traitors")
I think his name in Latin could have been Viriatus, I am not sure
I hope this will help you.

BTW I am pleased to see you are still around and keeping the mod alive, Thamis.

And I hope I can provide you with a useful Assyrian/Chaldean horseman soon :D

Yea, well, I found that out, too. Yet we're not talking about the Spanish, but about the Iberians, a cultural group to which the Lusitanians belonged, too (correct me if I'm wrong).

Spain means the same as Iberia before the early modern period.

I thought Spain came from Hispania, the Roman province, covering most but not all of Iberia.

Hispania refers to the Wisigothic Spain, considered as the golden age during the Reconquista and refering to Spain after Recared converted to orthodox catholicism allowing the mixing of population and described by Isidor of Sevilla.

BTW Yoda I forgot to congratulate on your new avatar. But can't he use the force to ski rather than pushing.

It does. But "Hispania" was around before the Romans carved it into provinces. In case you're interested, in 27BC when Augustus set about his new order, the province was known as "Hispania Lusitania". Before that, it was part of "Further Spain".

Portugal was also part of the Visigothic kingdom of Spain, and part of the medieval "Empire" of Spain. It was a vassal of Castille, but broke away. It's counts were strong enough to resist fuller incorporation, and got themselves made kings.

Not completely true. Celts did not "irrgate" the entire peninsiula, though these distinctions do not fit exactly to modern frontiers between Spain and Portugal (for instance the Basques were not celticized). Under Roman rule, Lusitania was a special province but its frontiers were not exactly the ones of modern Portugal either.

As soon as the German invasions, Suevi settled in northern Portugal around Braga, which is partly in Spain and partly in the county that would create Portugal.

Famous leader for the Celt-Iberians:
King Mil. A king of spain whose sons invaded Ireland. The Milesians or sons of Mil were the first Gaels (ancestors of the modern Irish and Scots). King Mil fought in Dacia and visited Egypt before settling in Spain with his followers.

Sources; the Book of Conquests and the Annals of the Four Masters. Could give more details or post a link to a copy of the annals if you like.

Probably a stupid question but I am going to ask anyway as I am not computer savvy. Will the latest version work in Conquests? I never got PTW but conquests seems interesting to me and this MOD even more than that! I am just recently come to the forum and wish to play this MOD. I am a bit trepidatious on installing it though as I want to get it where it is supposed to go!
