The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

Hey Thamis this is Ankhenaton. How are things going? I see that you are attempting to start another multiplayer game. Whatever happened to our last effort. Last I heard one of the guys went to Iraq and the turn times went from a bearable one or two per day to one per week! If you remember I am in NYC, so I don't know if you already have enough players. I am on hiatus from my doctoral program, so I should have plenty of time to play. By the way did you get back the results to the e-mail survey you sent? Bye for now.

we should definitely hook up on multiplayer? is bloodofages you're user name on gamespy? what time are you on normally?
I don't have a gamespy user name. Got a link to the website? I can get one.

I've just finished a random game of TAM (archipelago, 60%, large) and played it well after 400 turns. I noticed after being hit with plague late in the game that it was going to last for 50 turns and in the process affect every single city. Although i could deal with it, it is very frustrating and difficult to keep up with all the extra city notifications.

Early plague isn't such a big deal because the turn/year ratio causes it to be of short duration. However a late game plague can last a very long time and doesn't fit the mod well.

I therefore propose players make the following changes to thier TAM scenario properies under the disaters tab. We'll still have plague but it will be less of an annoyance.
Earliest = -1000
Duration = 50
Strength = 50
Grace = 500

Comments - suggestions?

ATTENTION: When playing the Fertile Crescent map, 'Culturally Linked Start Loc.' MUST be checked for civs to start in proper location.

CHANGES from 2.5i
-----------------
* Modified search paths
biqs may be located in ..\conquests\conquests OR ..\conquests\scenarios as long as the TAM 2.5 folder is in one of those two locations. MP play requires biqs to be in scenarios folder.

* Included additional TAM Large No Wolves map
intermediate no-barb performance due to wolves taking a lot of time at start

* Rename Berber to Imazighen; Noun = Amazigh; Adjective = Amazigh
Civilopedia text updated

* Ocean trade on random maps only = Navigation
Civilopedia text updated

* Marble is now required for G.Library, Oracle, Pantheon, and Temple of Zeus

* Library of Nineveh, Sphinx, and Temple of Solomon are now tourist attractions
Civilopedia text updated

* Reduced unit support in City States to 0/1/1

* Companion Cavalry and Guard Cavalry are now 6 attack and +1 HP

Hey Ankenaton, I haven't been playing CIV3 for a long time. I'll reinstall and see if we can set something up. Maybe we could do a one-off game of simultaneous turns? For me, PBEM might be difficult, as I sometimes spend the days & nights at my girlfriend's place, which means no CIV3 (she's got an ancient computer).

Thanks Thamis, I will check my e-mail right off! I understand the whole relationship thing, I have a wife and two girls ( 2 & 4) which does not leave too much time for games playing ( at least on the computer ). I have not played a Civ III game either in almost a year myself. I have been concentrating on Rome Total War (The Total Realism Mod) and I have been awaiting the new Civ IV. And all of the mods that I love along with it such as TAM & Tet's mod/scenario. If we can work out something agreeable great, if not don't sweat it. We might be able to hook up a good game on the Civ IV engine when it comes out in Aug/Sep. Catch you later.

well that went successfully... not!!!!!!!!!!!! wouldv'e helped if i hadn't slept in saturday. still a chance to do it today at 12-1 PM EST Check above for other U.S. time zones. Thamis, if you're there i got about 1:45 mins. from this post time till this thing either does or doesn't go down. and we will find out if loading time shall be the end of us.

OPERATION MULTIPLAYER TAM IS A SUCCESS (partially)!

Yes it worked. I used the fertile crescent map as not to completely kill us with load time. However it was not bad even though there was only two of us and 6 ai. I feel regular TAM should work but will not attempt because map was not made for only eight players. For now fertile crescent seem to work decent enough. Me and the egyptian dude (yes he was egyptian, not an egyptian civ) actually saved the game he was so impressed. We only played like 30 mins., mostly him running his mouth (man is he a talker). If anyone wants to join the saved game, feel free to we are starting it again at 2:00 p.m. EST MONDAY Read 2 posts up for U.S. time zone conversion. Note. Conversion for time zones above was made for 12-1 p.m. Adjust by 2 hours ahead If you are seriously interested about getting in on this barely started game please e-mail at industrialg0d@cox.net or show up on time at 2 p.m. I will be hosting this reload as something to do with TAM. stay cool.

the egyptian kid didn't show, i kinda didn't want him too, he was a bit of a talker. anyway i now know that the fertile crescent map is a decent mp map and loading times are not bad at all. ANYONE INTERESTED IN PLAYING THE ANCIENT MEDITERRANEAN MULTIPLAYER GIMME A HOLLER BY E-MAIL

I'm playing TAM 1.2h for Civ3 1.29f

Civilopedia isn't completed, so I will know how manage naval units.
I have Trade and Timber but can't build Coracle, for example.

Is there a FAQ section other than this thread ?

Thanks

1.2h? man, you need 2.5j for conquests baby. that's what it's all about. freaking 88mb download. get r done.

Ok,
but anyone remembers (2 years ago using vanilla civ3) how build coracles having trade and timber ? Why it doesn't work ?

sorry dude all i ever had was the ptw version and i ditch that sumab**** for conquests, you know it. git r done

I have found answer myself :)
Only four civs can build coracles; all civs can build galleys (with timber) :D

... programmers are a bit smarter ... ;)
