The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

You sure it ain't your mod? Either its your mod or i am going to have to reload your mod and double check to make sure everything is going where its suppose to go. Also i got the most updated version of conquest.

this is where i am installing it c:\program files\atari\Civilization III Complete
i figure i must be doing something wrong.

Hi. I got it to wrok right but for some reasom the game shuts down on the real world map. Thats allright cause i like useing the random maps anyway.

I'm not familiar with the folder structure for civ3 complete but this is what TAM expects...

There should be a folder called "Conquests"... inside that, there should be another folder called "Conquests" and another called "Scenarios". TAM 2.5 belongs inside one of those 2 folders.

Civ3\Conquests\Conquests\TAM 2.5
or
Civ3\Conquests\Scenarios\TAM 2.5

The .biq files belong in the ..\Conquests or the ..\Scenarios folder depending on which folder you install it to.

If you installed to the Conquests folder, you start TAM via the 'Conquests' menu option and if you installed to the Scenarios folder, you start TAM via the 'Civ Content' menu item after starting Civ3 Conquests.

Hi
First off, I'm really enjoying playing this mod.
I'm in the middle of the second age in my current game and I've had an error I'd like to see if someone could help me with.
I tried to create an army from a great leader, but each time it comes up with a missing file error. The file it is looking for is art/units/ARMY MIDDLE AGES/ARMY MIDDLE AGES.ini
In my civ folder, I found two folders under the art folder, one named Army Middle with a full set of unit config instructions, and another folder names ARMY MIDDLE AGES that is empty. I tried copying the files from the first to the second and renaming them, but it still can't find the file. Am I missing something here?
Thanks for the help

In a standard civ3 installation there should be no civ3\art\units\army middle

civ3\art\units\Army Middle Ages is the correct folder and should not be empty

You should reinstall your civ3. It sounds messed up.

Hey
there was a Roman rebel who led the Iberians against Rome and won many battles before tasting defeat at the hands of Mettellus Pius and Pompey.
His name was Quintus Sertorius. there is a picture of him on page 592 of Fortune's Favorites by Colleen McCullough.
And have you considered the Arabs? Their rise came a little later but I do believe they were always there Otter
Pompey wasn't a rebel, he was a consul that fought Caesar

I have tried it on multi player but found out that there is a problem with greek fire.
It's the same as in the normal gameplay of civ3 ptw with cruisemissile. When you use those wapons the game get freezed. What can i do whit that problem. Ofcouse as human you dont use those wapons but since comp is using them too its no fun than afther many hours of game play. :(

The game shouldn't freeze if you use cruise missiles. You can remove the unit in the editor if you really need to.

Euh im a bit of a pc noob :( what do you mean with editor is that a file?.
What i mean in multiplayer game on-line. If i play alone i dont have those problems. But last time comp used Greek fire on me and it keeps boem, boem for some min and nothing happend. Even when the turn time wase up it did not shanged to next turn.

There is no problem with cruise missles in Civ3/PTW. If you are having problems with them, it has something to do with your specific setup.

And the good set up for MULTIPLAYER is?
Well to take out those files dont work because than i get a message file not found and the game will exit.
I play the game now on MULTIPLAYER so thats different than when you play single player. Whit the ancient mod i found out that there wase a problem with the GREEK FIRE wapon IN MULTIPLAYER. Those wapons destroy a unit completly. When used it goes boem, boem ect. and the game will not move on. To take out the file dont work because some how it is still possible to build but cant be used, thats why the message (file not found). What i whant to know is? Why is it so inportant to have a wapon as GREEK FIRE in the game? I have played the game sometimes now on multiplayer but most of the times a game get disconnect because of dynstec error. or players just leave. So thats why i only play with some friends and we save the game to play another time. The ancient mod is very stable, so thats cool (No planes, atomic boms, icbm's or otherstuff. Civ3PTW has no problems in ancient, medeviel time but the problems starts really in industrial and modern time, lagg ect.

Just removing a unit in the editor isn't a good idea. A better method would be to change its properties to something that won't cause problems. Greek Fire has the cruise missle ability and since you say there is a problem with cruise missles in MULTIPLAYER games, perhaps just removing this ability will work.

Well thx. but how do i remove this ability for the GREEK FIRE wapon.
With the normal civ3ptw there are atomic bom's ect. what can cause problems also in multiplayer. That's why i like to stick to the ancient mod.
I hope you can help me out on this so that i can finally play a game for some hours with some friends online without those problems.

Open the .biq file you want to use with the C3C editor.

Edit rules -> Units

Select the Greek Fire from the drop down list at the top.

In the selection box in the lower left will be several unit characteristics selected. One of them is 'Cruise Missle' (I think this just means it gets used up when fired.)

Hold down the control key and click on 'Cruise Missle' ability to deselect it. You have to hold down the control key or else it will deselect the other unit traits that are selected.

Save the .biq file and start a new game with it. It would be a good idea to keep the original and save the modified one as a different name.
