The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

Ok one, minor bug. The search path for Mediterranean Large is ..\Scenarios\TAM 2.6 while in the The Ancient Mediterranean.biq it's ..\Conquests\TAM 2.6 Just change the respective search path depending on where you place the main folder and you'll be set.

Version 2.5 had the search paths set so it didn't matter whether you put it in the conquests or scenario folder. If this has been changed, i recommend setting everything so that it works from the conquests folder. If i remember correctly, it depends on some other conquests files.

Yes it has been changed. I emptied everything into conquests and Med Large.biq wasn't finding the files while the TAM.biq was.

I've installed the new mod version & started to play the "no barbarians" version, which was my preference with the older version. Imagine my surprise when my scouts started stumbling across barbarian camps right & left.

Argh, bugs abound. Thanks for the feedback. I will correct these issues shortly.

The directory problem relates to the fact that I tested in a different path.

The no barbs map having barbarians is a consequence of the import function of the editor. When I imported the map from the Med Large, it dragged the barbarian camps with them. I manually removed all I caught (thought I had them all). I think this was a problem with early TAM releases as well. In any event if you can tell me the locations of the barbs you're finding, it will help me out!

The transparency issue is a new one to me. I'll check into it.

I played No Barbs as the Persians and found none in the middle east.

another minor bug: I was rather surprised by the look of my palace in the city screen, it looked sorta like a market place--after I built my first veteran unit I checked in the civpedia to see if the palace acted as a baracks and all it did was talk about some African marketplace (it was the Palace entry).

Is you see carefully, there is a square around the palanx units. Is more clear around Athens. If you see Knossos, guard by the legionary, there isnt such a cloud.

Another question: Triemes doesn´t upgrade to Galleass. Is intencional or a bug?

Hello everyone,
I fixed all the issues brought up here:
- Scenario Search Folders of Mediterranean Large made consistent with other 3 files
- Two errant barbarian camps removed from No Barbs (hope there's no more!)
- Fixed Palace Civilopedia entry on all 4 scenario files
- Used Sandris' revised Phalanx to avoid graphics transparency issue

I've posted a patch you can get by following
THIS LINK
This is a quickie fix for those of you dying to play this weekend :). As such, there are a few quirks about it:
- You cannot find it from the TAM download page
- It's a zip file since I remain baffled by the exe thamis makes despite being pointed to the program he uses
- It assumes your biq files are one level above your TAM 2.6 directory

I will wait for additional feedback, close the loop with thamis, and integrate these changes into the full download sometime next week. In the mean time, please keep hitting me up with bugs. You guys are sharp .

Hello again,
Time for more fixes! This should satisfy people for a while:
  • Navigation connects harbors across ocean as advertised in The Ancient Mediterranean
  • Removed location name "resources" from The Ancient Mediterranean
  • Fixed a typo in Civilopedia
  • Fixed pixel issue with European Migration Age city graphic
  • Added Fertile Crescent scenario
I didn't want to rename the whole thing version C on account of such minor changes, so I simply integrated them into my existing patch. As such, you can get the latest changes at the existing link:
http://tam.arbolingo.com/download/civ3/TAM_CIV3_C3C_v2.6_PATCH_B.zip
I'm working with thamis to get the patch listed on the Downloads page and integrated into the main download for future users. So stay tuned :D.

A couple other minor notes...

I didn't want to mess with thamis' Fertile Crescent map, so I didn't move the starting location of Hellas. Instead, I left it where the Mycenaeans started and simply set the first city name to be Mycenae.

Hopefully no one else has caught the horrid pixel issue on Varwnos' city set. I managed to ruin such a beautiful piece of work...temporarily!

Someone asked about trireme upgrades. I didn't fiddle with them; they are as they always were. What does IBT stand for? againsttheflow mentioned it, not an acronym I'm familiar with :).

Your really keepin' 'em comin' aren't you? I appreciate the drive for perfection. I don't know what was said about the tireme upgrades but I didn't like the look of one of the ships in the second age. It looked too medieval w/ those crosses, maybe I'll look to see if I can't find something else. "IBT" stands for in-between turn. :)

Installed the patch (new version) & set out to play the Fertile Crescent.

I couldn't figure out why Saba wanted to give me Tools for Warrior Code immediately (same turn) after I got Warrior Code from them for Domestication.
Then I went to do a little diplomacy.

Why did you remove the location resources? They're cool!

I removed them from the random map since you ended up getting in situations where the Caspian Sea was in 3-5 locations across the globe :). I can put them back if people liked them. I really dig them in the Large map.

Hmm, that's a new one Blue Monkey. All I did to create the Fertile Crescent was import the rules from the 2.6 No Barbs. I'll load it up and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for the heads up!
