The Ancient Mediterranean MOD (TAM)

I have been unable to determine what's driving the error you're seeing Blue Monkey. I've played the Fertile Crescent twice and failed to see 1 nation of Saba, let alone 2! Is anyone else experiencing this or have a clue as to how to fix it?

A belated welcome to civfanatics underdog1!

I ran across a bug while playing TAM last night. I was playing the Medes on Monarch, on the Large Med map with barbarians. When I would conquer a city, the entire civilization would be destroyed immediately. While somewhat satisfying in an apocalyptic way, it kinda ruins the fun of the game. Any ideas what is going on, or how to fix it?

Did you check the elimination box when you set the game conditions. If so, capturing one city destroys the civilization.

Doh! Not deliberately, but I just looked and it is automatically checked when I'm starting up a new game. I'm not sure why or when that happened, since it wasn't checked for the last few games I played. Oh well, as long as it is fixed.

Thanks!

If it was checked on the last game you played prior (perhaps on accident?) it will remain checked for whatever game you load up next.

Just started playing Civ again and am playing the random map version.

I am having to relearn civ, so my experience may not match others. So far I like the basic concepts of the game and the graphics are great.

My only problem so far is that the default barbarians so outclass the starting players that every game I would encounter barbarians in the first 10 or so turns and they would wipe out my forces and sometimes raid my city. So I turned pillagers down to match my warriors.

I really like it and will keep playing.

I love this mod, but the barbarians can be a pain. I like to leave them as strong as they are, since they also interfere with the AI players. Instead, I've found that I do better attacking them than trying to defend. They have higher attack than defense values, so combined with the extra hps player units have over barbarians I find my warriors win more often than they lose.

Dealing with TAM does require building more troops than I was accustomed to in the past to deal with barbs, especially on the historical maps, but they usually don't cause that many problems any more. BTW, if you play the historical map, expect to encounter even more barbarians than on a random map.

He said he'd look into it, but the page still looks busted for the time being. If it isn't up by the end of the week, remind me and I'll put a temporary download on atomicgamer.

Hey, I really appreciate the ongoing attention to this mod. It is my all time favorite Civ III mod. I have been playing the update. I note that now with the random map, I cannot choose victory conditions. Normally I don't like Spaceship/Spice Road as a choice, and sometimes included Cultural victories. Is this intentional, or can a random map biq be made that allows me to select all victory conditions?

On the random map, the white text depicting geographies from the Mediterranean map are randomly and repeatedly showing up all over the place.

Thanks for this great mod!

First off this is my favorite mod so great job.

Question though, how much has the plauge been cranked up on this? It seems way way worse than regular. Though that could be the size of my empire, I'm loseing 1-3 units per turn to it and have about 30-60 cities with plauge.

Edit:
I also noted a few barb camps to the far north east in the no barb game. At least I think that's where they were. Haven't seen any in my current Rome game yet.
