Theres nothing wrong with sharing Flavor units. But combining the Haida with the Iroquois is like combining the Roman Empire with China....

I fail to see why I can't just change the name of the Haida Canoe and use it as an Iroquois ship... it's a hell of a lot better than an Iroquois Galley.

Because the Haida Canoe has artwork unique to the West Coast Tribes. Their culture was quite different than the Iroquois. Why not just give the Iroquois a normal Canoe and don't have it upgrade until later(skipping the Galley altoghether)? Only the Haida built sailing ships anyway.

There are no large canoe graphics.

I ment a small canoe, a pre-sailing boat. There are graphics for um...

That's crap though... it's gotta be big to be able to compete with the other ships out there... You can't have the Greeks using Triremes and the Iroquois paddling up in a one-man canoe.

Whos says they have to compete? There is the Native American Fictional Ship BTW...I use that as a Galley replacement, I'd make it come later in the tech tree to represent the inexpierence of the Iroquois when it comes to naval matters, where the Haida excell in.

I use the Native Ship, and the Native Cannon Ship, but they're later on the tree.

Same ship, two attacks

Yeah, thankfully, aaglo provided two attacks for almost all of his later ships so we could have one upgrade to the next... not that the cannon attack was that tough to make... it was just the ship rocking to one side and his pre-made smoke effects.

sounds like an awesome idea! although im busy with my mod right now if you need anything besides research let me know and i will help! great idea, dom!

I actually named the Fictional ship the Pahrump in the Native America mod and Far Horizons: Heart of Destiny. What the word means I don't know, but it was from a Cusco song called "Pahrump, Big Water", and it sounded good, so Pahrump it was.

You could actually shrink the ship to make a earlier version....But if you insist you could use the Haida Canoe, but with its Sail Art and design, it is really ment to be a Haida UU...

this thread has been quiet a while....... i was just reading some posts again and I think that you should classify civs on these aspects:

Political system(s)
Economic system(s)
Religious customs/beliefs
Social customs/traditions
Intellectual achievments
Artistic achievments

Using PERSIA to determine if a group of people is a civilization is very comprehensive and unbiassed. For example: the United States

P- The US revolutionized world thought about government when the Founding Fathers developed a Democratic Republic ruled "by the people, for the people." Although the ideas of Democracy and Republic systems of government were not completely new (Roman Republic and Athenian Democracy), they had pretty much been forgotten since the fall of the Roman Republic. The US's founders sparked revolutions that continued for centuries and still do (France almost immediately after, Central/South American revolutions much later, etc).
E- The United States further defined Capitalism; sort of an upgrade to Mercantilism, an early form of Capitalism.
R- Because the English colonies that became the United States of America offered refuge from some of the religious oppression in Europe, the Founding Fathers made sure that the new country had separation of Church and State; kind of a big idea considering the US was made up of mostly Europeans. Muslim nations had already formed systems of government that separated Church and State and practiced religious tolerance, but the idea was still very revolutionary for the backwards pigs in Europe (no offense intended to modern Europeans).
S- Patrilineal and man-is-God based. Nothing really revolutionary here but it is important not to just skip over this: the United States did have a social order.
I- Lets see....Where do I begin? haha electrical lighting, the phonograph, the telephone, the TV, the pizza, the transistor, bifocal eyeglasses, the lightning rod, THE AIRPLANE, the stop light, Random Access Memory, the Personal Computer.........
A- Rock & Roll, Jazz, etc.

I want to mention that I was really trying to be unbiased, even though I live in the United States.

Most of that history was spent killing innocent people.
Ouch! The United States has done a lot of bad in the world since 1776, yes, but it is very important to realize and recognize all the good that the US has done in the world over the past 228 years. Without our help in WWII (and WWI), Europe might now be German, Asia might now be Japanese, Africa might now be Italian, and the Americas might now be in anarchy. Also, look above at my PERSIA and take everything on Earth that came as a result of those achievments and remove them. The world sucks when you take the United States out of history.

A note to Dom: PLEASE do not use "America" for the name of this civ. Please use something like "United States" or "United States of America". I think that referring to only US citizens as "Americans" is wrong and offensive to the other nations and ethnicities on the two American continents. I consider it extremely ignorant to use "America" to refer to only the United States. For an adj., I suggest "US". IMHO its like calling only Chinese citizens "Asian" or refering to Spain as "Europe". I'm not angry at anyone. Just wanted to mention this. :)

I understand as my relatives don't like the idea of "American" being applied to only U.S. citizens (they're all Brazilian), but I still feel applies more to the people of the United States more than the Iroquois.

Yeah, you and me both.
After losing all my files on my hard drive, I have no desire to re-create my own mod, but this will be a nice substitute.

haha where the hell has Dom run off to? he was one of the best "creators" on the forum. this mod would have been incredible.
