The Argentineans: I need help

I'm at Argentina right now, so when I come back to Uruguay this friday I could give you some more details (if you dont get them before)

BTW, you could also talk in the Civilopedia about the "Provincias Unidas del Rio de la Plata", a project that never got really big, which included a confederancy of about 6 provinces, from Argentina and Uruguay...

Give me more infos when u have time, I can launch the civ before receive these infos, but I can always launch a new version as I want. If your infos would not be included in the first version, I can including them in the second one.
Oh, tell me about this United Provinces of Prata River.

regards from Brazil!

okay, there is some errors on the under construction images, like:
- the eyes of San Martin r not white
- he had black hair, not blonde or white

I have to correct them, but I'm not able, some commands of Poser r really hard to me :(
But u people can check this preview! remember, he other civ infos, like bonuses and civilopedia r in the back posts.

Everything seems nice :) BTW, are you working on a America mod? Because you seem to be doing everything that would be perfect for it, a map, civs, and all... :) About the UNPR, I don't really know much about it, though I know that Argentina in colonial times was called vice-reinado do prata(which, I believe, is where the name Argentina came from, since argent in French is the same as silver(prata)) it had in it's territories Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and I think Bolivia also.

Argentina wasnt called like that... its like saying Peru was called Virreinato del Peru... It was just a subdivision of the territory controlled by Spain... It could just be said part of Argentina belonged to the Virreinato del Rio de la Plata...

But actually, Argentinian history is quite confuse... Buenos Aires being actually at war with some of the other provinces which were allied with the Montevideo government; that was because both cities had some good ports (especially Montevideo), and while Montevideo was loyal to Spain, Buenos Aires was trying to become independient...

Well... it surely isnt well explained... but there are always many sites from where you can get some information on the subject...

I hope you don't mind if I try to cooperate a bit... I'm from Argentina and I really like all this project:

The Country's Name: : like someone said before, the names come from "silver", but not because here you could find lots of it, but because the first official discoveries of land here where made at the Rio de la Plata (River Plate) by Solís. The waters of this river are silver coloured, specially when you look at them from atop a ship navigating them. If you are in the coast, the water's colour turns to dark brown, because it have a lot of sediments on it.-

Leader: You can use someone like José de San Martín, because he was our local version of George Washington; or you can use Justo José de Urquiza, our first Constitutional President; also, if you like a more modern leader, you can use Juan Domingo perón, who was the gratest leader of our modern times. The bad thing is that, unlike USA or other civilizations, it's very difficult to set a good Leader for our country...

Military Units]: The Granaderos a Caballo are just great! Also, if you want to make a really good and reallistic mod, you can rename the tanks for our local version: TAM (Tanque Argentino Mediano - Argentine Medium Tank); if you need some info about it, just let me know and I'll try to help.

Now, a simple question: will be this mod free? where can I found it and download it when it's finished?

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR INTEREST IN OUR COUNTRY!!!

BelegDraug, Jorde and Androrc the Orc, thanks for all the informations, I'll upgrade them in civilopedia as I can.
The Argentine will be available to download soon, maybe next week, I'm learning who the art editor works :p About the units (TAM, Granadero, Pucará...) I chose Pucará because the Malvina's War, but I hope produce in the future alternative units, as TAM, Granadero a Caballo and a missile built by France-Argentina that I can't remember its name right now.

regards from Brazil!!!

Well, well...
If you really want a revolutionary rocket weapon in the Argentinian Order of Battle you should talk about the "Condor II" missile.-
It was a full-ordnance tactical missile, fully depeloped in Argentina by both civil and militar engineers. In fact, it's primitive design was used in Irak to build some missiles in replace of the SCUD-B's from Russia. Also, Egypt and other minor countries choose the weapon as main tactical missile but USA and NATO opossed and make my country to destroy all units and dismantle the entire project.-

Well, just let me know and thnaks again!!!

lol, yes please not menem or cavallo!
think argentina civ should be agricultural and militaristic
UU: Super Etendard or granaderos a caballo as someone post
Leader: i am not shure 100% but i think maybe General Don José de San Martin is the better choice.

I need these bellow infos to complete my Civilopedia, maybe you all from Argentina/Uruguay can help me:

Help request:
More info about General José de San Martins.
More info about Pucará airplane.
What is the date of the Republic proclamation? 1816?
When Buenos Aires was destroyed? It was founded in 1534 and re-founded in 1580, but when it was destroyed by natives?

I don't need a full biography, just few infos that I think you learn in school history class.

thanks you all!!!

has anyone seen Alejandro Magno??? he help me a lot of with infos and told me that he'd build his own Argentinian Civ, but there is a long time he does not post

Pucará's Info:

Full Designation: FMA IA 58A "Pucará" (Pucará was an old native kind of fortress)

Role: Fighter, Close support, counter-insurgency, tactical reconnaissance, anti-ship strike

Performance: rough field capability, STOL capability

Powerplant: two 729-kW Turbomeca Astazou XVIG Turboprops

Full performance data/U]: maximum speed: 270kt (500km/h; 311mph) at 9845ft (3000mts); cruising speed 232kt (430km/h; 267mph); service ceiling 32810ft (10000mts); combat radius 350km (217 miles) on a HI-LO-HI mission with a 1500kg (3307lb) load

Armament: two 20mm Hispano HS 804 cannon with 270 rounds per gun and four 7.62mm FN M3-30 machine-guns with 900 rounds per gun, plus provision for up to 1500kg (3307lb) of disposable stores carried on three hardpoints.

Other data: originally intended as a COIN aircraft to quell disidents in northern Argentina, this plane sudenly became front-page news when it went into action during the Malvinas' War of 1982. It was the biggest design -until the IA 63 Pampa- and production job ever attempted by the unaided Argentine aircraft industry. In design, the Pucará is unique because it is a very modern tactical attack aircraft with a twin-turboprop powerplant, all-metal construction and the special ability to undertake tight turns and dive pullouts even with heavy weapons liads.-

I hope this help you......
Thanks!

The civilopedia is almost ready in post number 38 (page 02) of this topic. I think I have all the informations, if someone has any tip, please, post.

Thanks all for the information, u all helped me much!!! Thanks!!!

The 3d animated leaderhead is almost finish, soon we can play as the Argentine.

regards!

Yeap! You're right, mi friend!

It's just about the Pedia: in there, you say that the Pucará is the evolution of the Pampa... but it's just the other way! The Pampa is the evolution of the Pucará! The Pampa is an advanced jet trainer, with tactical capabilities... it is a post-Malvinas and Pucará design...

Well, is that only and, if you let me say it, I think you are a great Civ creator!

I started created stuffs to Civ (and draw using computers) few mounths ago and slowly my creations are getting better, I'm glad that u and other civ players are enjoying them.
In the future I hope produce more units to Argentina, Granadero a Caballo, Condor II missile, TAM and now Pampa too, I just need learn more few resources in the new image/animation editor.

Folks, General José de San Martin is almost finished, check the image preview in post number 42 (this same page, some posts above).
I did the possible, I have limited objects and limited xperience, but I think the images are cool. I'm not able to change his skin color and eyes color, I try so much, when I learn how texture system works and get different textues, I can do the changes.

fellows, tell me your opinion, so I can do the changes before export the images to Civ3. I'll do the possible as I can.

regards!!!
