Nice. :) However, the hat should look a little more like Abe Lincoln's top hat. ;) Members of the Choson royal court had tall top hat-like ceremonial hats.

Where'd you get the robe prop from? I think it looks close enough to a Korean hanbok robe. :)

What does that have to do with this mod? This is an East Asia mod. ;)

I've decided to include Dai Viet (Vietnam) in the mix as a playable civ. Though Vietnam is literally in between the sphere of Southeast Asia and East Asia, exhibiting influence from both sides of the spectrum, its major interactions as a regional power occurred with China and the Mongols. Vietnam is not a mere extension of Chinese culture, but developed in response (and resistance) to Chinese domination and successfully repulsed both repeated Chinese and Mongol invasions. The leaders of Dai Viet will be Ly Thai To in the first version and Trung Trac in the second version. Viet special units will include the Au-Lac Crossbowman, the Viet Guerilla, the War Elephant, and the War Canoe. :)

Anyways, a complete list of the "UUs" and leaders that each civ will have:

China
Leaders: Ying Zheng -Or- Wu Zetian
UUs: War Chariot, Zhuge-Nu, Castle Ship, War Tiger Paddleship

Japan
Leaders: Suiko -Or- Minamoto Yoritomo
UUs: Heian Horse Archer, Wa-ko, Sohei, Ashigaru Arquebusier

Korea
Leaders: Wang Kon -Or- Sejong
UUs: Hwarang, Koryo Horse Archer, Iybyon, Kobukson, Hwach'a

Mongols
Leaders: Genghis Khan -Or- Kublai Khan
UUs: Raider, Mongol Light Cavalry, Keshik, Tibetan Auxilary

Tibet
Leaders: Ngawang Gyatso -Or- Songtsen Gampo
UUs: Himalayan Warrior, Tibetan Light Cavalry, Khampa Horseman, Khampa Archer

Dai Viet
Leaders: Trung Trac -Or- Ly Thai To
UUs: Au-Lac Crossbowman, Viet Guerilla, War Elephant, War Canoe

There are two versions of the mod - one with one set of leaders and another with another set.

As far as the units go, they are based on possible actual historical military units (such as the Hwarang, whose existence is still debatable), depictions of military forces (such as images of crossbowmen in Vietnamese Dongson bronzework), or on weapons from those historical periods (such as the Zhanmadao sword in the Ming Dynasty).

The basic map for the tech trees of all four eras is now completed. :) This tech tree is for the "Imperial Age" (representing the time period from the beginning of the Ming Dynasty to the first century of the Qing Dynasty). Too bad the Civ3 editor doesn't allow scripted events; having the Manchus pop up as a major power in the northeastern region of the continent at this time period would make it a very interesting scenario for anyone playing as China.

The "Gunpowder Infantry" tech enables all civs except for China to build Harquebusiers. China gets the Firelancer UU (the first gunpowder infantry unit) after researching Rocketry. To offset this advantage, the Firelancer is slightly weaker than the late-age gunpowder units (but that doesn't mean that it is any less deadly! ;) ). I'm thinking of making the unit lines a bit more unique for each civ. For example, China gets the more technologically advanced units earlier, Japan's advanced units come later but ultimately are the strongest in pure attacking power, and all Korean units are relatively well-rounded. :)

A Korean armored swordsman would be nice, but I doubt you can find anything remotely resembling Korean armor (which looks like Chinese armor). :)

The armor could work, but not the "kilt" and not the helmet. Maybe something a bit closer to this would work (though this is actually not Korean). Images online of Korean armor is difficult to find.

Here's also a website showing Chinese style armor (one of the helmet styles was also used by Koreans): http://chinese-armour.freewebspace.com/photo6.html
