"The Core" Ads

I'm using OPERA.


I have NEVER had a problem with speaking adverts...until now.


I am absolutely pissed off and I've been online one minute...expect flames, FLAMES

But "The Core" is worse.

Please get rid of them, TF!

I guess any browser has got the ability to turn off sounds somewhere in its settings/preferences.

Or just turn down audio level on the volume control page (click the loudspeaker in the taskbar).

adding mediamgr.ugo.com to the restricted sites on IE worked like charm.. mmm no more massive electrical storms

Assuming you have IE, goto 'Tools', 'Internet Options', 'Security'. Then click on the red restricted sites icon, then the button for sites. Add the site to the list.

Weird...I have Opera and have noticed "The Core" advert many times, visually, but never in sound. I have v7.03.

I would say that unless the Core ad goes away, that I at least won't visit the site. We shouldn't have to change settings just to get rid of annoying ads. I don't mind the silent ones, and have even clicked on some of interest, but this one not only plays on every page, but it slow down the server response. That and the fact that I don't appreciate something unexpected blasting from my speakers while my children are asleep. This site doesn't need to resort to annoyware for ads.

Wow, this is bad, can you (TF) petition to UGO to make them stop running it? Besides being just plain annoying, it resets with EVERY page loaded, so I hear it CONSTANTLY!

Please, for the love of God, get rid of these ads! Or, at the very least, make them understandable! I can't make out what the stupid announcer is saying...

I would love to turn off my speakers, but I can't, lest I miss someone trying to page me in a chat room....

I am also very annoyed by those audio ads and have sent a few emails to Telefragged asking them to remove those ads quickly.

OK, At Thunderfall's request I came over here to check it out and I am already annoyed with a movie I will never see.

I want to explain a few things concerning the message boards. This board is very popular and consumes resources that we have to pay for. The ads (especially the annoying ones) pay for those resources. That being said, Thunderfall and I will come to a solution that should make everyone happier by the end of the week.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for giving us a reply.

What recommendations do you have for avoiding the sound ads? Is restricitng the server making it so that the ads don't count towards a successful 'hit'?

With my settings restricting the site, I still get the banner ad at the bottom, but no sound. Does the sound have to be included for it to count as a 'hit' for the ad server?
