The Descent...what happened in the end? *Spoilers*

I watched the movie The Descent last night and was left a bit confused in the ending.

What the heck happened? She got out of the cave, then woke up back in the cave, then something about a daughter and a birthday cake and then she just seemed to wait to die.

This website http://www.ruinedendings.com/film5135ending also claims she found out that the other girl she stabs in the leg had an affair with her late husband.....when and how did she find that out??

Can anyone explain this movie to me, it appears I missed some pieces of the puzzle!

It's been a while since i've seen it, but i'll try to answer your questions:

She finds out about the affair, because the other lady had an item, which used to belong to her late husband. I can't remember what kind of item it was, though.

At the end of the movie the main character halluzinates that she has made it out of the cave. She never really left it, though, and after she wakes up again, she realizes that she has no chance of escaping.

Cheers Till, Thats what that item was (some sort of chain, or pendant on a bracelet/necklace).

And it was a hallucination at the end.....I assume her daughter was who she was thinking of meeting up with in the afterlife and thats why she appeared?

That's what i figured, as well. She knows she is about to die, so her last thoughts are about her daughter.

It is a confusing movie. I'm not sure, if i understood it correctly, either.
