The Dual Alliance II

Mongols - Turn 152

Reports continued to drift southward of fighting outside the city of Kazan. It seemed to be good news - the enemy in the north was in disarray. Scouts had been sent north to recon, but none has reported back, as of yet. Perhaps a recon in force is in order.

But grave news arrived fr the south. The prince of Almarikh had marched north with his tumen, augmented by the border forces. Marching straight for Karakoram, the Eternal City... Estimates put the enemy forces at a 2 to 1 numerical advantage to the loyalist forces now in the capital.

PS Upgraded to 1.21. I think I'm getting carried away, writing this fictional side-story... :)

Sent gems to our Mongol neighbors. Sold some luxuries to Xerxes and bumbed up our research rate - feudalism now in 4 turns. Madras looks like a nice place for a Forbidden Palace. ;)

Upgraded to 1.21. Game e-mailed.

Mongols - Turn 156

The rebel forces under the prince of Almarikh had surrounded and beseiged the Imperial Capital. Matters were grave, as the Imperial Guard and assorted loyalist forces tried to hold the city, against the rebels...

Then another army was sighted to the north. The Crown Prince despaired. It appeared that the prince of Kazan had finally moved against the capital as well. With added reinforcements, the rebels would have no problems overwhelming the city defenses...

There appeared to be chaos within the beseigers' ranks however. Strange...

Then a miracle happened. It appeared that the army fr the north was not that of the prince of Kazan's. They were bearing banners belonging to the Mongol Expeditionery Army, which had been dispatched to Rome, to prepare for the invasion. The defenders' hearts lifted...

The MEA attked the rebels fr the north, as the city defenders too took to the offensive. Helmed betw the two forces, the rebels were dispersed, with many choosing to submit to the loyalist forces. The rebellion was over.

The rebellious border lords were captured, most of them, and executed. The princes were poisoned, as befitting their royal rank. Peace and order was restored across the Empire...

It turned out, that the advance guard of the MEA had been fighting hard in the past few weeks, to overwhelm Kazan, while the rest of the forces enforced peace in the former Roman lands. Most of the Romans were content to lay down their arms - only the most rabid ones wanting to restore the Roman republic and they're mostly massacred.

In the meantime, the Republic of Mongolia has been declared - with XIII taking a leave fr the Romans' book and declaring himself Consul. And all is well. :)

Mongols - Turn 157

Research resumed - theology in 2 turns. What are the Japanese working on?

Rushed and completed a string of temples all across our northern shores.

India is crumbling under the Persian onslaught - can we not do something to help her? :undecide:

Honorable Japanese Learned Men are working overtime researching the fine art of chivalry. :)

Honorable Japanese Shipbuilders are preparing galleys to take an invasion force to Persia. Launch date is some time off but odds are that the Persians will face a new an formidable Japanese fighting force. ;)

With the landing of Viking archers near the ungarrisoned city of Salamanca the Republic of Japan has decided to make peace with the Scandinavians in return for their WM and 6g.

Galley #5, chivalry and the Great Library all in six turns. :)

Started work on Sun Tzu's Art of War. Will try to build it the old fashioned way. Saving Hirohito for a Forbidden Palace on the other continent. ;)

Mongols - Turn 159

Gave theology and furs to our Japanese brethren. Rushed the SC in Karakoram with the GL.

Researching engineering; 8 turns. Our poor little republic wasn't up to pushing up the tech research... :(

Delhi had fallen to the Persians...

We'll have the Great Library and chivalry next turn. :)

Will also embark troops for the southern continent next turn!

We have the Great Library. Chivalry sent to the Mongols. Researching education at a leisurely pace. Began embarkation of expeditionary force. Will sail in a couple turns. :)

Mongols - Turn 165

Still on infrastructural development, since we aren't going anywhere until navigation... :(

2 turns to engineering. Will research Leo's. Already being pre-built at Karakoram.

Army is like crap; need to upgrade troops and build new ones.

War draws near! Japanese forces have advanced to the gates of Delhi. The Persians are building Sun Tzu's Art of War!

War declared on Persia!

Delhi captured!

I plan to capture Madras next and use Hirohito to rush a forbidden palace there. Of course I'll have to annex what's left of India. :D

Hmmm... lost two elite swords and a medieval infantry as hordes of immortals counter-attacked. Ack, Xerxes even has an army of immortals! Well, I held my samurai back hoping to hold off the golden age until the FP was in place...

Which reminds me - I haven't gotten my GA either, and I'm already well-placed for it. :)

Nothing much for me; 8 turns to invention. And infrastructural building... Not much of a fleet either... Nor an army...

One Medieval Infanty sallied forth from Delhi and destroyed the invading Persian army! :) This was followed by the destruction of some "immortals" by Japanese Samurai, initating our Golden Age! :ninja:

The Persians did counter-attack Delhi killing our pikeman defender. :( The old Indian capital is not yet secured.

Sun Tzu's will be done in 13 turns. :)

Delhi has held but is now defended by a 1 hp medieval infantry! Many immortals in place to attack. We may abandon the city - or give it back to Gandhi. Hmmm... perhaps my Mongol neighbors would like the city? It may be too late for that though...

Meanwhile the citie sin Japan are busy making city improvements durning the Golden Age...

Pity, but I was expecting something like that. We are playing at emperor level, remember? :D

Did you give it back to the Indians, at least?

I've done that in a hotseat game before ;) My brother wasn't at war and I was so I didn't want to lose the city so I gave it to my bro and after some negotiations I was able to get it back.

Yep, I gave Delhi back to India. I would have given it to my Mongol allies had I thought of that a turn earlier. I wasn't sure if Xerxes would have been able to capture the city between the time I offered to the Mongols and they accepted my offer...

Mongols - Turn 175

Researched invention - now doing gunpowder. :yeah:

Will soon begin building a bigger army and navy; looking to finish this game quickly once we got the tech to sail to them heathen lands. :D

Switched to building Leo's - 21 turns to completion.
