The Entire Thought Experiment

Well, I think I went a tad deeper than that, but the idea is to posit some ideas for you to formulate a PPP, as would the team. The best way to foster discussion is to put out a draft PPP.

Overall, if we wish to take out Qin, and I think it's obvious that we should - at least in pieces - we need to be somewhat aggressive on getting out units now. We are limited in production, i.e., food, so we may have to whip Eridu/Kish rather aggressively (forget if Eridu has forge yet). Uruk should try to maintain current growth and keep research base up for empire as we tech towards Edu.

Losing Nibru will be a hit but we have the Phant and couple of vultures over there. Too bad we can't upgrade warrior to axe, but I see no way of getting the needed gold this turn.

A GS soon would be nice, but no clue on current GPPs.

The lack of food is really hurting us this game.

I hope that by talking about settling northwest it's lymond's northwest, aka northeast for us normal souls?

ah yes yes!!! I am directionally challenged:blush:

money to upgrade nibru is available for trade but do we want to sell all those techs, 2 of them are harmless (litterature and a nearly finished tech but third one might be problematic _ don't have the save in front of me to check which tech)

eridu should have a forge.
We are very far to get any GPP.

by the way, which babana city are you talking about? there is 2 of them and both came free of charge thanks to barb. with GLH all coastal city is a bonus, so did not raze them.

I hope that by talking about settling northwest it's lymond's northwest, aka northeast for us normal souls?

Definitivly.

As I said earlier
Will sell code of laws to Washington and machinery to Lincoln. Lincoln will give 70 gold for machinery so we might as well sell it since it means he will have it in two turns.

I do not see that we will loose any cities. I will work on a PPP tonight.

To me this process is backwards. PPP deals with details and is directed by the general strategy but I will follow the will of the team.

..... and is directed by the general strategy.

There's no reason that you as the current TS player can't "direct" our general strategy. The draft PPP can then serve to foster discussion for fine tuning.

Ah...derp!...I think I'd misunderstood some post in the past and though we'd settled that banana city. Yeah it pretty much pays for itself with GLH, although it will just sit there a long time doing nothing...ha

hmmm...I guess my math was off on trading for gold but I really did not look at it that closely.

I do not have a lot of time right now but I'm starting the PPP.

Cities.
Bad-Tibira, whip work boat. then lighthouse. Moai statues?
Nibru, library, should be a commerce city.
Scythian, Looks just bad. Let us be a bad commerce city with auxiliery whiping.
Uruk, no whiping, grow to health cap while building units/commerce building.
Ur, hammers,
Kish, whip forge, whip trebs.
Eridu, whip units.
Lagash, hammers now with coastal commerce later.

propositions:

Bad-Tibira, whip work boat. then lighthouse. Moai statues? worker
Nibru, library, should be a commerce city.
Scythian, Looks just bad. Let us be a bad commerce city with auxiliery whiping. Yep, bad fishing city. try sneaking a worker at some point when xian will be ours
Uruk, no whiping, grow to health cap while building units/commerce building.
Ur, hammers, units
Kish, whip forge, whip trebs.
Eridu, whip units.
Lagash, hammers now with coastal commerce later. try to farm the farm spot if possible

for techs: their is feudalism, paper, philosophy, drama and theology. personnaly, I don't see anything above paper.

for settler 5 (2S of nibru) either the 1S of rice between nibru and bad tibra or 3 north of nibru to catch rice and copper. I prefer second option.

sell wine to washington

for military warfare, kill xian iron, it is only metal for chinese and steal the 2 workers.

by the way, i see nibru lack of defence the only reason chinese declared. Else, they don't seems to be ready for war.

I go along with the bulk of astre's proposals, but torn between the need for units versus general 'catch up' in terms of Settlers / Workers / core buildings.

Frankly we're not ready for a 'progressive' war (five War Elephants [although one's not in the 'war zone' - so effectively four], three Catapults, and a moderate number of Vultures - it's hard to envisage that we're going to make meaningful headway).

Do what we can with raising :gold: from tech' sales and save our threatened cities (as already discussed). If we can take Xian, then that'd be great.

Overall I think that we should plan for a war against China, but it may well have to be an Industrial Age conflict, and from there we can steamroll Native America after China.

Tech: Complete Engineering > Liberalism path.

Grand plan. Punish the Chinese hard.

Cities.
Bad-Tibira, whip work boat. then granary. Change to worker at size 2.
Nibru, library, should be a commerce city.
Scythian, Looks just bad. Let us be a bad commerce city with auxiliery whiping.
Uruk, no whiping, grow to health cap while building units.
Ur, hammers, build units
Kish, whip forge, whip trebs.
Eridu, whip units.
Lagash, hammers now with coastal commerce later.
harappan, whip monument after granary? then commerce or farm/workshop?
Cow/copper/fish, whip monument, then production city.

Tech
I would like to go for philosophy/education/liberalism. Build oxford after the war.

Trade
Sell techs and save Nibru.
Trade wine for spice with Boudica.

War
upgrade unit in Nibru.
Scythian, I can take a 70% chance against impi. The good thing about that is that we can saklly against the swordman if it wins when attack the city. But we can fortify in the city and ferry over an elephant or maceman.
Take two workers from China. With 1 Elephant and 1 vulture.
I would like to give China a turn or two to show their hand. Or I could just march with the army at once towards Xian.
Plunder iron outside Xian.

Settler, I kinda like the coppar/cow/fish spot that previous player marked. 3N of Nibra is 1 of the coast, that at least 2 commerce.

workers
Uruk, get cottages on grassland.
Eridu, no needed improvement now.
Kish, no needed improvement now.
Lagash, farm.
Ur, a mine then later farms.
Nibru, two farms then later cottages
Bad-tibra? Chop granary?
Scythian, plantation,
Harappan, plantation on banana, plantation on Sugar.
Cow/copper/fish, pasture, copper mine, workboat.

ps.
Something strange. We have open borders and trade connection with Lincoln. But we do not have any trade routes.

pps.
I would be ok with converting to buddishm to make Boudica friendly with us. That would allow us to bribe her into war to fulfil an other variant.

probably the new wars are blocking all routes with him

But we have route. You can see that as we can trade resources.

But we have route. You can see that as we can trade resources.

hmm I think the resource trades will go away once you press end turn...

if I got it right astre didn't do anything and just stopped immediately and some things change only IBT.
trade routes and prolly resource trades are these things.

I see. Probably won't matter much.

What are peoples opinion towards getting Boudica as a stable ally?

i would try to avoid to tech philo if possible. someelse already have it.

for commerce, the best thing to do is to sell wine to washington for 6 gold
Settler, I kinda like the coppar/cow/fish spot that previous player marked. 3N of Nibra is 1 of the coast, that at least 2 commerce.

The problem of copper/cow/fish is is lack of defence and lack of spawnbust.
the city 3N of nibru is definitively on the coast, check the red spot in my pic below.

convert to budism may be a good option, i really don't know. but that also mean to be against most of the world. but I'm vey bad at make AI friend with me, so...

We do not have any other friends. Lincoln will drop to cautious and Boudica will go up to friendly. That Qin, Shaka and Bull likes us less I do not think will matter. It seems like a good trade to me. Once she is friendly we can use her as our guard dog.

She has sent two more missionaries. I do not know if she will stop sending them if we convert.

As for defending Cow/copper/fish. That will not be a problem since everyone is on the same continent we do not have to prepare for naval invasions.

Philosophy's still up for grabs as a monopoly technology. Taoism's not founded.

Boudica doesn't plot at 'Pleased', so we're safe for now, but I'm receptive to the idea of keeping her 'on side'.

I'm still of the view that we're very light in terms of military, and "Punish the Chinese hard" as an ambition is optimistic in the immediate term, but it's something that we can look at in the Industrial Age. Still, if someone can 'pull a rabbit from a hat' in terms of our war with them now, then that'd be great.

oups, my mistake on philo :(

about military target: raze iron is ok but xian is too mutch for us. It is on hill.
I would go to nanjing first ...

I think we can take Xian if we wait for three trebs.
