The Entire Thought Experiment

did not checked if a bribery is possible.
for next tech, i tought about paper->lib

our income from selling stuff is > 20/t right now but was > 30/turn when qin and shaka were willing to spend their money :p

for improvements, I builded cottages, chain irrigation to iron city, plantation and a road to our promissed land (for troops).
Folket is UP.

Yes, I got it yesterday but have not had time to make a plan. But as far as I can tell we are in a good position. Worst thing that could happen would be china going over to banana city. Otherwise we will just stomp them. So next tech? Go for knights or perhaps education? We have some cheap universities.

But as far as I can tell we are in a good position.
We're about to lose Nibru.

Scythian's 50-50.

Our Great General's roaming around taunting the enemy to kill himself in 'some suicide blood feud' thing I'm not getting but I suspect came from a Quentin Tarantino film.

Bad-Tibira's toiling away on that Work Boat even though we have one near Denver.

Things are just dandy.

I will have a second look. I did not feel threatened when I had my first look.

nibru will be fine if we find money. Else, we'll lose it for 1-2 turns only. (phant is very close)
scythian is nice with 2 vulture against 1 impi and 1 swordmen, we are mutch better that only 50/50
our great general did not move this turn and he can go very far if needed. but occasion to turn a warrior into a supermedic macemen seems appealing to me.

As i said, I made no move this turn as i left next player with maximum possibilities due to new context.

denver work boat is very far from bad tibra. As a matter of fact, i was about to whip bad tibra one this turn for a connection next turn when border will pop.

Will sell code of laws to Washington and machinery to Lincoln. Lincoln will give 70 gold for machinery so we might as well sell it since it means he will have it in two turns.

With our new found gold I will protect both Nibru and Schytian.

Will grow Uruk while I will whip and abuse the other cities.

Let us decide a tech and I'm ready to play.

I would appreciate a decent PPP.

I blinked, and our tech' path got completely re-written. I can't see any reference to going after Engineering until it happened.

As a roster we are getting some inconsistent decision making that's just costing us time and resources. For instance, one player tries to make Eridu a :gp: farm by building a library and eventually running Scientists, the next one drops the Scientists and instead builds a lighthouse, the next continues not to run Scientists defers the lighthouse and whips units. We're all wanting to run off and do different things which is screwing up this game. Consistent decision making is difficult if everyone is playing first and then defending their decisions afterwards.

^^ I thought you were searching for a bit more challenging game ;-)

yeah we don't seem to be much planning in this SG... I didn't check the save, so I can't comment on anything, I took a little bit more lazy approach in this one.

Do you feel the situation is really that bad that our victory itself is in danger? We would then have to make a bit more proper planning for next few tS's.

I don't mind if we finish the game some turns later then with maximal optimalization.

I will try to work on some more PPP tonight.

Sorry but i asked for comments while i gave my preference :

next tech : paper or machinery. i would prefer machinery-> ingenering to prepare for chinese war (aka phant/ mace/treb war)

set research toward machinery.

I received no comment from this part, so i proceed.

The lighhouse is not necessary at all given all the food this city can make and armies are mutch higher priority than scientist at this point as Lymond clearly spoted.

for consistency, i blam the lack of comment from each of us.
Personnaly, for my set, i did what i announced: conquest barb cities, build forges, worker, settler while teching engenering.

This game is not lost at all, we can crush china and win lib easily in the next turns.

The basic problem is we don't have a strategy and we haven't had a strategic discussion. Discussions so far have been short term: next cities, next techs, settlers vs units vs infrastructure etc.

We've got variants that compel us to go to war with china and native america and we've got a bunch of empty land to the north east. We haven't really decided where our priorities lie so individual players (including myself) have decided on the priorities for our set, set them out in a PPP and played accordingly.

A good point, let us take a couple of days to decide what our long term strategy is.

Personally I like sitting back and just holding hands with the AIs while building our space ship. We probably should delay corporation until we have ability to found Sid sushi. Get Boudica to friendly and use her as our meat shield.

Alternative. Commit to destroying China to get some nice land. Then turn around and conquer Sitting bull as well. Expand to domination limit and then build economy.

Personally I generally do not play to finish as fast as possible, so I'm ok with being relaxed.

Wow, some perplexing stuff here. How did we let Nibri get in danger? Did we not know that Qin was going to attack? Simply prepping an archer would have worked there.

That banana city was a very poor decision. So many better city options in the NW..erm...NE. Let the AI settle that junk and develop it.

Well, Engineering is in, so we can spam trebs and take out Qin.

I do think land grab is the answer here. Our start area was not spectacular at all. Grab as much land as possible and then win.

ha...how did Shaka get units all the way over here.

Whip forge in Kish now and then we can whip mace/trebs there non-stop. Eridu and Kish will be our main unit pumps for now. Try to get some money here and there for unit upgrades. Uruk should mainly slow build units and grow.

oh...Qin has given us a chance at free worker.

Of course we do not have an directing strategy when we take a day pause to decide something we have one post and that post did not go deeper then take out Qin with trebs.

So at the moment we are leaning towards, take out Qin, settle northwest and then tech.

Shall we try to generate a great engineer in a city to get mining inc? We will probably need to start him/her soon.
