The Era of Justinian

christos, the unit costs are off ratio-wise again. While a lot better than before (ChristosIOT I), some of the more expensive units are still only as good, or under, their barbarian counterparts in the EP : Attack : Defense ratio. This seems to apply only to the melee style units though, as the cavalry and archers make sense, at least in some circumstances.

Given that the different nations can't train all of the units, this could be on purpose, but it still seems questionable to me.

this is on purpose.

I added one more rule in the Economy so I could balance the in-nation economical situation and the characters actions.

See Gold Section.

@ christos: I was making an improved version of the map (one w/ a key, filled in all the little isles in the Med., etc.) and I noticed two very important things:

1) The Vandals are WAAAYYYY to big. They control too much of North Africa, although I suppose that could be allowed to slide.

2) The Vandals should control Corsica and Sardinia.

Your thoughts on this?

1) I know. I wanted a strong Barbarian Kingdon in North Africa so only a General with the skills of Belisarious could defeat them.

2) I wanted to make the Ostrogoths stronger because:

a) I wanted to balance things.

b) I did not wanted Byzantium taking over Rome (that is under Gothic control) in turn 5.

Here she is:

Thanks for the map. I posted it on the firts page.

Continuing with my tradition of looking to expand to the most remote places imaginable, I must ask: who owns Iceland? Norselands I would assume, but it is white, not beige.

Welcome.

You forgot the Canaries and that little part to the east of the Caspian.
The Canaries were not inhabited by "Civilized" peoples at the time. Even the extent of the Vandals is way too large.

As for the Caspian, it seems a little irrelevant. I don't believe anyone can interfere with it anyway...

It hasn't even been settled by the Norse yet. :D

@ christos-

For advancing tech, say you spend 100 IC on economy tech 4. This would mean you have a 25% chance, in 1-100 vs. 101-400.

If you fail, do you lose the 100 IC, or do you get to build upon that. Say, trying again with another 100 IC would give you a 1-200 range, as opposed to a 1-100. Thus, a 50% chance from cumulative bonuses. Or would it just be 25% still?

No one and no one will. Unless the game reaches the 700's, something that it is not very possible.

The first. You build upon that 100.

One wife is just to balance the game. So no. Pagan will have to marry one wife.

Added one more rule. See the section ''From Gold to IC'' in Economy.

This is the final rule change. The game is complex enough.

For most civilizations, I would not allow a Female leader, but because you are the Celts, I will allow it. The women had a greater role in Celtic societies than the Roman/Franksih/Gothic societies.
