Be this through intimidation, persuasion, assassination, or something else entirely. He holds no military authority, yet is one of the most important advisors to the king.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you are playing a game containing a whole bunch of realities that may offend your 21st century sensibilities.

There are wars of naked aggression, nonexistent hygiene for the bulk of the population, despots as the norm for political stability, essentially no rule of law, slavery as a positive advancement for society (as opposed to the outright slaughtering your conquered foes), and a host of other unpleasantries.

You are actively encouraging several of those behaviors in your play, and have to do so to win the game.

So if child brides in the fifth century upset you, then you might not want to dwell on that for long, or what playing a game glorifying such actions implies about you.
