Fanatica encounters strange peoples

Recently, near the city of Dellham, a strange group of poeples riding on horseback were seen. Ambassadors were sent from the city to greet the strange peoples. At once, they requested a session with Queen Jayne.
Details of this meeting are unknown, though rumor has it Fanatican funds were used to placate these peoples and avoid war.
Little is known about these horsemen. They called themselves 'Vikings.' We have proof of existance of such peoples, as a recent report from world travelers described a great lighthouse built by these peoples.
They appear to be barbaric peoples, not knowing of the doughnut. In fact, upon an initail offering of doughnuts as a gift, they rejected the generous gift. Recent polls show that the Vikings are looked down upon this lack of the doughnut.
In related news in this subject, a strike force has been assembled to destroy any Viking settlement in Fanatica.

Trade discovered
In science news, the art of trade was discovered by Fanatican scholars. Since that discovery, cities across the kingdom began production of caravans, to carry their excess goods to other cities. It is expected that these new 'trade routes' will garner lots of income, and scientific research for Fanatica.
It has also been discovered that the delivery of these goods may be able to help the constuction of great momuments.

A fantastic controversy has rocked the land of NUF. Our Domestic Advisor and others think Little Cities, lots of them, can be very productive. One such city was planned for operation very near our glorious Capital, Regia Civitas. Woodsmen were organized, Settlers with pots and pans were in place, and then...

A duke and many other important citizens struck the plan down! These people believe in large cities, and say many small cities make the people unhappy, and that our Forest stinks. It's been quite a stink alright, but we have emerged with stronger bonds of agreement.

Also, our Cartographers will play an enhanced role in the development of plans for NUF. A new department, the Land Office of Registered Land Maps, has been created. Hopefully, this will be more effective than the Department of Redundancy Department.

In the capitol Regia Civitas, today rumours have been circulating within the corridors of power all day, that Queen Jayne intends to announce her abdication at the next presidential election.

Her aides and spin doctors have refused to acknowledge or deny these vicious rumours. It is suspected that these rumours may be a result of the Rasputin Tapes. Queen Jayne was not available for comment.

The rumours continue to spread including speculation that she is running away to join the army. The press core have been notified that a press conference will be held at the palace later today.

Queen Jayne's Reign -- The Highlights:
Queen Jayne was elected as Queen of the NUF in 1050BC. During her reign she has founded numerous cities. The empire successfully built the Colossus just before the Indians completed it in 850BC. She has entertained the masses by hiring Elvis to work on the nightclub circuit to great acclaim by all the citizens.

Contact was made with the icy Viking warlord in 650BC, fearing the citizens lives Queen Jayne paid the Vikings and made peace. By 525BC a raiding party was formed and dispatched to hunt down the Vikings by which time had settled within our island. In 300BC a Viking raiding party was located north of Delham and in 275BC a Viking horseman spotted near Neuma. Both Vikings were successfully charmed (bribed) to join our great nation. By 225BC the Viking enclave of Roskilde was located.
