The favourite classical music and opera thread

I like the one piece from civ4 during the rennesciance age. I think its bach allegro.

Ah this should be good. I did say that I dont like classic music, but I think that might be I havent heard the right kind, Ill listen to some of the ones recommended here and see if I like them. :)

I have heard that too many times at weddings to not thing about marriage whenever I hear that piece. I am going through somewhat of an Listz fixation right now and just about any of his works are great to listen to so here are some of them for your pleasure.
Mephisto Waltz No.1
Funerailles
Hungarian Rhapsody No. 9

Very understandable. There's such a thing as too much of a good thing!

Another of my favorite pieces is "Hall of the Mountain King" by Edward Grieg.

Brahms' Clarinet Quintet.

This is a piss take on Mozart's Magic Flute. I do hope that you enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZ4ZNbiO15M

Sorry about the subtitles, but now if you are Dutch you can read and listen to it at the same time.

You didn't want a long list :) so i'll write the most optimistic ones. What really makes me go on is Bizet's Carmen (especially the ouverture, however I can't find a good version now) and Ravel's Bolero (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtngunsAUsI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PuT2VJ7XVGc).

I really like Pachelbel's canon.

Go West by Pet Shop Boys has quite similar harmony :) Since I found out this I can't hear Pachelbel's canon, because I can't get rid of the idea. :(

And the Graduation Song by Vitamin C. Actually, it's also one of the major themes in the Magic Flute.

Beethovans 9th Symphoney Rocks!!!!!!!! Woooohoooooo!, Yeah

Faure's Requiem.

More modern 'classical' music
Gorecki
