He was pondering the split of the Tribal Council and the formation of the new fraction. He was pondering the great Travel of the World he had just completed. He was pondering the amazement he had felt at finding Vandels son as the husband of the Queen of Espania, and He was also pondering which of the very, very beautiful Yassan maidens he would sleep with tonight in his Beach Hut on the Virgin Coast. Yes, he thought, MUCH to ponder about. Aloud, he murmured... "How can a government be expected to benefit its people if it cant even keep track of them, much less their opinions and needs? From Babylonia to Arete, from the Virgin Coast to the Vandel Hills, we have citizens everywhere. Is it even possible to know how many there ARE?" (his stomach growled loudly... Hmm chicken for dinner, i belive... mmmm). His aimless wondering took him to the small gatering in the middle of Arete where trade was conducted. He handed a small boy a silver piece and was rewarded when the child brought him a long, yellow fruit. He pealed the skin off, and munched on the sweet white meat inside... He smiled and licked his lips when he was done. "I wonder what it would take to bring many of those to Arete to sell in quantity?" As he passed through the market on his way home, he heard shouting. Lord Civius stood in the square... "EEEExxxxpaditon to the Mines of the North. JOooin the Silver expidition... Just sign your mark here... Donate Gold Here!!! Silllllver EEEExxxpadition!!!" Duke Smiled. Now thats a thought, he groused. Duke went to the Warlords trade stall and bought 50 cured deer hides. He then moved to the center of town, and stood upon the statue nocked over by the mob in the recent rebellion. "People of Arete," he shouted, "No longer must our leaders be unknowlageible about the citizens of the Nation. Please, one and all, from the youngest child to the oldest grandsire, come and make your mark upon this hide... Eventualy, Duke managed to get an accuount of the whole city. "Only 10 more years of this to go". He smiled mournfuly.
