The five remaining existing-civ leaders in BtS...suspicions?

What's more important about Charlemagne, in gamer's terms barring historical interpretation, is that he is generally affiliated with the French in people's minds. It might just have been good pr/propaganda work by the French to associate themselves with a successful leader that they may or may not have a claim to, but I can tell you that it worked.

If Xerxes makes it in then there'll probably be 300 references everywhere. :shake:

"Tonight, we dine in <CIV_NAME>!" (Xerxes declares war)

I'm the only one that associates Charlemagne with Germany?

THE FIRST REICH!!!!

...
No, I'm not a nazi sympathizer.

But while we are on the subject, Hitler is the most obvious glaring omission. Sure there's the whole PR issue, but Stalin is estimated to have eradicated three times as many people. I've already modded Hitler into my game as Agg/Chm. With Monty-esque personality, he's a real challenge to play against.

I WOULD like to see a Holy Roman Empire, led my Charlemagne.

And maybe a Hebrew Empire

Why would you be a nazi sympathizer just because you said the First Reich? Nazism is an absolute exception in German history.

Anyway, Charlemagne can be associated with France. That name is French. But also with Germany: Karl der Grosse. He's the father of both France and Germany.

I'm pretty sure Stalin killed more Jews than Hitler in fact. Hitler would be a decent addition but I would like a very early German leader like Otto, the founder of the HRE.

I would like to see Eastern leaders, a second Japanese leader(meiji, nobunaga, or hirohito, a third Chinese(taizu or something), etc. I would love to see a southeast asian civ,(given I'm from there) but primarily to fill in the gap there, angkor or srivijaya would do nice.

i dont have any prefrances (other then gives some of the 1 leader nations some extra leader support) so i would like to see at least in the single player mode an option for a custom leader so you can choose any trait combo you want or none at all if you want to make it harder, as a genaric option for all civs with the a cheak box for allowing or disallowing use in multiplay games.

seeing as there is no way that thay can, and no way thay will beable to correctly fill out all the leader ranks, also with this option in thay could add an option to genarate AI leaders with random traits to get more of an unexpected factor going for the AI. (if you all cant tell i have a real thing for being allowed to make my own leader/unit/building/whatever custom style so im not a clone of whatever nation and leader i chose) should not have to mod in such options thats bad policy for a company that isnt willing to put in the effort the game is owed.

Custom combos, eh? What if there was an Aggressive/Charismatic Roman leader, with its default UU and the Sacrificial Altar for its UB? That would be uber-cool!

What I would like to see is Germany not even be a civ...I think it should go away and be replaced by Prussia, Austria, and the Holy Roman Empire...considering Germany as a country has only existed for a little over 100 years.

Charlemagne must be available to both French and German if he is in the game at all.

I agree. Maybe instead of a 'german' civilization we could have a 'germanic' civilization, which incorporates Germany, Austria, the HRE and Germanic barbarians (Goths, Vandals, etc.).

Or, we could have the HRE and Austria-Hungary as civs, and leave Germany alone. Though what would the cities for the HRE be? It has the same problem as Italy.

Given that he's in the censored Chinese version of the game, I'm wondering whether that Emperor Tang guy (Taizong, I think; whichever one it is that people keep going on about in other threads) might be in BtS. I'm not saying that I think China needs another LH, but if they're going to add censored versions of leaders to the Chinese game ("Mr. Tang", "Mr. Qin" and "Horaelock" as Genghis), why use the name "Tang" in the first place if they're trying to be subtle? Unless, of course, he'd already been developed ready for BtS. That's my line of thinking, anyway.

Frankish!=French

Franks had most in common, ethnically, with modern day Germans.

Anyway, Firaxis never stated that there will be 6 leaders of existing civilizations, only that there will be 10 new civilizations and 16 new leaders, so some of the new civs may get 2 leaders.

Also, there is already a thread on the first page about the same topic: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=214630
