The future according to John Titor

Grav, I suggest you think the thermodynamic implications of what you just said. Think it through before you post.

Yeah, you did, but 90% of the other posters just covered their eyes and ears screaming "Oh, time traveler, can't be bothered to read any of this!"

Neomega's description of Titor fits Titor's political stance pretty well. He's also shows signs of being a survivalists and militia member. Some have also speculated he could be KKK. Compare the political map from the 2000 election (that hinted towards what areas would be hit) and the racial demographic makeup of the country. There isn't prejudice in his time, because the nukes got rid of most non-whites.
Whether him supporting the 'rural'/'country' people (mostly all whites) is really related to any racism in him or not is debatable.

That's the thing I've been noticing. Many things seem survivalist, i.e.

- The current government is the "enemy" and will be destroyed by Russia (a bit of conspiracy theory tossed in for good measure it seems).
- The Civil War theme (survivalists want another uprising, and think it's gonna happen "at any time").
- Living off the land.
- Decentralized government.
- "Survival of the Fittest" (doctors only caring about "snakebites and broken bones".
- Homeschooling (or rather, community schooling).
- Technology is regressed (goes with living off the land, but the Internet is still there?)
- The remark about "finding 5 people in a 100 mile area that you trust with your life" just seemed survivalist to me.
- The remark about "what if you have to leave your house in 15 minutes? What would you take?" also looks survivalist.
- The remark about "Our neighbor was searched and arrested, and that's when we decided to get out of the city." is also another staple of survivalists.

The whole thing he posted had an air of government distrust about it.

I ment it in the way that a population does not "consume" flat land, nor does it "consume" sunlight. So even if we have a ten trillion population, shoulder to shoulder everywhere... we will still have flat land and sunlight.

You really need to go back to elemantary school! You do not even have the basic ability to think thru simple logic.

Eh! Why do i bother replying to such posts. :(

Simple logic? How about this...

Premise 1
-All developed nations have a near stagnent population growth. (Or negative)

Premise 2
-The most populous part of the world, Asia, is developing rapidly, and is not regressing

Premise 3
-World food production is not near its peak, all airable land is not used, the US alone feeds half the world already

Conclusion
-World population will stagnate once most nations have become developed, and we will have enough food to feed everyone.

Want it even simplier?

You're wrong. ;)

The FBI is like the crowd of macho jocks in high school, except they have guns.

She should have been married to a nutcase. The government can't helded responsible for accidents that occur because people break rules.

Titor didn't say much about food as a problem - more of distribution as one..

I was quite impressed with the bicycle theory -
if oil runs out (finally a good thing!), transportation will come to a halt (although solar/electric cars exist..).
Other stuff made from oil will be much harder to produce, and so becomes the lack of bicycle tires (bicycles can still be made).

O, the invention of the wheel! Pie!

The idea of decentelized government is also a VERY good idea, since when people get power, well.. they rule, so they don't have to care about the others (see US last election).

TERROR OPINION ----------

I also believe that there will be a mojor Al-Kaida attack in the US before the election to destabilze the US.
Terrorism is quite an effective way of conducting war.
US are looking for some individuals on the planet (see Osama, the maniac), meanwhile these individuals cause (from less important to more important):
1. Loss of a few hundred/thousand lives.
2. Psichological distress and volunerability feelings among about 20% percent of the world population, which also causes loss of efficiency.
3. Destabilizing democracies and having a BIG economic effect on nations for years.

I think one of the things that we Israelis take for granted, and is quite new in "the west" is these 3 affects.
The killing of people hurt, but not like road accidents if you actually look at the numbers, but this was in vain, hence the psycological feeling.
But these rarely make a real difference.
What DOES make a difference (and maniac SOB Arafat knows it best) is the economic suffucation (spelling?).
Israel as an example, and you may think of NYC -
1. Tourists don't come here no more!
There is a slight increase, but with any event, they are scared and rather go somewhere else.
2. We have some countries that support "the other side" (arab, and now EU..) and ban our products and put high export taxes.
3. (VERY important) There are TONS of security guards - not only in airports, but also in a medium supermarket, any entrance to any mall, theatre, some restorants (spelling..), checks on busses, equipment for these men, and many many salaries to be paid...
A lot of money is spent for no product for internal security.
The "other side" is watching TV and eating popcorn.

It is also Arafat's choice who will be the next political party to rule, since he can do or not do terror attacks prior to the election, if he does, that makes people feel unsafe (2 unhappy faces in the continent), wanting to replace the government.
As you know, in democracy, these 5% that change their minds decide (major bug, must have patch, write in diary, don't have, forget it, smoke).

Walla, see you later,
Chaim.

You guys are the fools for taking this guy seriously

He's properly a Russian scientist who is trying to gets things started.

He's properly laughing so hard that the hole of mother Russia can hear him.:devil2: :mwaha:

I don't recall anyone here actually fully believing that he was a time traveller, HamaticBabylon.

Please, either discuss his predictions and philosophies like I put in BOLD in my first post or just ignore this thread.

Thank You.

There seems to be a sequel to this John Titor guy...

Sam Lennov is a special guy as he claims to come from the year 2048. Yup, you read that part right 2-0-4-8. On his personal blog at http://www.archiveonline.be he's making countless predictions for the years to come up to 2048. He's regularly writing posts and interacting with hundreds of visitors who keep asking him the most weird and exotic questions and what's more: he seems to be answering every one of them! Sometimes the anecdotes and answers are very exotic but they always seem to strike a chord. Is this because he's telling the truth or because he's a good guesser?
I can't tell for sure but some of his predictions are so accurate they make me truly wonder if this one is for real...

This is what that guy posted today

Paper money to disappear in modern society
October 1st, 2005

Some people have asked me about money. What will it be like in the future? Well, very simply: paper money will cease to exist. Counterfeiting will have grown too exponentially and people will start to distrust paper money. After all money, is just something that people exchange and have trust in that they may again swap it for the perceived value. The amount of counterfeit money will introduce some drastical changes. New forms of ‘plastic money’ will be introduced with some very hard to counterfeit features.

Of course this is going to happen
Anyone with any idea of society could say that

I see things like Paypal in the future for managing monetary assets.

If a civil war starts in the next three months (roughly 90 days), I will do my part and run away to Alaska. If not, I shall do my part and live up to the reputation of being fat and lazy.'

Edit:

Question: Will we still be smoking in the future?

Answer: Don’t count on it.
The tobacco companies will continue to see their huge revenues (as they were used to before the year 2000) shrink in the coming decades. Continued lawsuits in the era 2000-2020 will make them effectively abolish their main products. The big companies will let the form and shape cigarette evolve towards the way the Bruce Willis did smoke them as in the “The 5th Element” (remember that brilliant scene where Bruce gets a cigarette that is 3/4 filter and only 1/4 tobacco?)

Considering a few states (including my own) are now smoke-free, I could have predicted this.

Nano-technology
September 28th, 2005
Although Michael Crichton is still scaring most people with his book “Prey” (note: it will become a major motion picture by 2007), there will be the first practical applications of nano-technology by 2010 and further.

We all know Hollywood is now in a book-film craze.

Is it really you who pointed astronomists towards the existence of the 10th planet?

I sure did. In 2048, the existence of the 10 planets will be just as obvious as you and I have 10 fingers. It was so obvious to me that I did not realize that you thought there were only 9 planets. But while I was mailing with some online scientific contacts/ friend of mine, they were so busy referring to “9 planets” as if they had just loast a planet. I said “What about the 10th one? You know, the planet that can be found at this astronomical distance from the sun?”

That is just crap. Pure, utter, crap. I can claim I led astronomers.to find another planet to. And 'astronomists' is not a word according to dictionary.com

Collapse and reemergence of UN
August 17th, 2005
The UN collapsed in the year 2009 because some key actors became too powerful and decided to pursue their own vision.

By the gods! Bratt Pitt will conquer the world!

This is just to fun to mock.

What a load of baloney.

It seems people are so sad that they will believe any blogger trying to play-act as Doctor Who!

That may actually support this person's story... Language will not cease to change in the next forty years, any time travelers from 2048 would probably need to learn today's languages as a separate dialect to be able to get by in today's world. If they make this kind of mistake, it may mean they are used to the way English will be.

First observation: these two guys predictions seem to differ quite a lot ;)
I've looked at the this second guy's blog.
If I was about to embark on a time trip to, let's say the fifties, I'd do dome research first.
He seems to claim that he doesn't know anything very detailed, beacuse they are such minor things. He claims afterwards that he knew about the tsunami and the reason he couldn't do anything was beacuse he didn't know what time of the day it was going to hit, only the day and the place. What crap.

His claim for the reason for being here is to get some virus material for small pox to make a vaccination (I thought a cure would be needed, not a vaccination) for his parents, who are suffering from small pox. So why come to this time, why not go somewhere a lot earlier, when it was far more readily available?
The worrying part: is he a terrorist hoping that someone will buy this and help him get hold of the small pox virus?
