While reading the PC gamer review I saw this little bit of information:

The freedom to pursue multiple victories—domination, scientific, cultural, diplomatic or simply running out the calendar with the highest score—combined with the wide range of interesting faction bonuses and unique units makes it almost endlessly replayable.

Please tell me that this time limit can be turned off. I want the game to end when I want it to damnit!

Also, is this like Civ 4 where you have the option to keep playing even after someone has won a victory even though you technically don't score any points anymore?

Yes and Yes.

2050. and yes it is.

I believe you can continue playing after the 2050AD date. However, your score ends at that point.

They are referring to the 2050 time victory condition which can be disabled like every other victory condition.

There was an option to turn off timed-victories in Civ IV (on which I pounced, as I hated having the game end when I wanted to keep playing...). Can't imagine them putting it back in.

Have you ever played a Civilization game before? The game goes to the year 2050, so there is x amount of turns, and if no one wins a victory type the highest score at 2050 will be the winner?

Can you stop posting threads every time you THINK you discovered some new and interesting tid bit. Because you havent!

I'm starting to think that you may not be as "hardcore" as you claim.

Like in every Civ game the game will stop counting your Points for the Highscore when a Player achieves a Victory, "Ending the game" so to say. But the game will give you the choice to play on infinitely after that.

edit: damn, to late ;p

Heck, you can probably keep playing after achieving a Domination loss. Just because you lost your capital city, doesn't mean you have to stop playing, right...?

The time/score victory condition, is the time limit, I always turn it off, and Civ 5 will be no different.

Most civ games will be easily won by 2050, the end date is like the longest possible way to win.

There's a "time" victory condition, like in CivIV, but you can only switch it off in advanced settings: I think you have the option of any victory with the quick start (or play now) option
