The Gamecube Thread

In the Dino Dino Jungle, or whatever it's called, there is a shortcut right after the tunnel you know. But you need a boost.

If you don't win on Wario Colliseum, just start over. I usually start over if I don't come on 1st or 2nd pos on the first stage of a cup.

Bowsers Castle is pretty easy to win on.

I do start over, Grey Fox.

I think my weak race is Dino Dino Jungle, for some reason. I just can't win there.

Oh, this is all on 100cc, so I still have to go up a level.

There's another shortcut in Dinodino Jungle, right when you see the bridges, instead of going up the main one, make a sharp right and go up a small one with boost pads. Sounds easy, but extremely easy to fall off, so not much use.

In bowser's castle, you can cut off the hairpin turn by running across the ledge at full speed without a boost, but you must be running at full speed and have sharp aim or you'll fall, and if you do land, you must turn immediately or you will fall off the other side. Not too useful either.

On Rainbow Road, I like to cut the corners on the snake of death after the spiral of death right before the pipeline to heaven. Very fun to watch your kart almost fall off but get back on. Even funnier when I almost fall off but don't get back on (all though that did cost me a few races ;))

The hardest part of Special Cup is the turns I think, not the AI, because I think the AI is actually easier. I can finally get the turns now without even letting go of the accelerator, but it's safer to do so rather than fall off.

Never used this, but I knew of it. Gotta learn it sometime.

Yeah, I do this all the time. It's useful.

Worst thing you can do with a large kart is to let go off the accelerator :D Or even worse, brake! ;)

I rarely brake. The only time I do break is when I'm WAY ahead of my friends (like half a lap) and I sit right at the finish line and continuously press Z to taunt them (works best as Daisy). Then again, if I'm playing Daisy I'll press Z all the time anyways. :p

Well just got my copy of MK: DD and went in the basement and got out the router and about 45 minutes of bull**** later it seems to be all connected. Of course I acutally need to play this game some but if anyone is up for a game in the near future let me know.

I like Co-Op in Mario Kart. :D I played it with my cousin today. We did worse than we probably did individually, but it definetely adds a nice aspect of teamwork. It also adds the side attack, which is VERY useful. The only problem is that getting two items isn't as easy as it normally is, since switching positions isn't very easy.

And don't say that the rider in the back has a boring ride. We took turns each lap. :)

The rider in the back gets to do everything, I wonder why everyone considers driving to be great. Then again, all I ever do is drive because my friends all suck. :p

You don't have to switch to use the 2nd item. Just hit any of the buttons on the drivers controller, except L, R and B, and you will throw the item to the passenger.

I almost always drives when we do Co-op. :)

Hmmm I let my 3 year old control the second guy and I got the gold cup in Flower 150cc, which I though was rather impressive as I had NO control over when she decided to use the weapons.

Anyway played my first couple of WarpPipe.com games today and while they were slow, first guy was in Ohio while I'm in Connecticut and the second was in Massachusetts but was using dial-up, were still alot of fun.

I BEAT MIRROR MODE ALL CUP TOUR! DIE PETEY PIRHANA! DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!

That stupid Petey Pirhana was my rival EVERY time, that stupid big ugly thing taking up the whole screen. Luckily on Mushroom Bridge (third last race) he placed sixth and I won by four points!

Nothing to unlock, besides staff ghosts. I guess I can consider the game done. To celebrate this moment, I took a picture of my new alternate title screen, showing that I got gold on EVERYTHING! :D

I can't get past the damn Special Cup 150cc, all the others took no more than 3 tries. It's really starting to irritate me. Who do you guys use for GP racing? I had been using Koopa troopa/Paratroopa combo but have recently been testing out with Birdo and one of the troopa's, the weight seems to make a difference but still only a silver trophy.

I mostly used Toad(ette) and Paratroopa Koopa in Toad's Kart. Mostly I use Paratroopa's triple shell, and if I fall behind I switched Toad(ette) in front. I use either Toads, neither really make a difference.

I beat Mirror All-Cup Tour with Paratroopa and Diddy though, since I found myself usually in the 1-3 range, so if I got to first, the Giant Banana can help since CPU's love running into those things (not Petey Pirhana though, he has like a ten star acceleration or something, he really just pissed me off).

I find myself better with lighter karts mostly because I find a smaller vehicle easier to navigate and slip through people. Although it does get annoying when I get pushed off the edge or something.

Well got through all of Mario Kart last night with Koopa Troopa/Paratroopa combo in the green Koopa car. Also submitted my save to gamefaqs if any may be interested.
