Perfect Dark isn't Bond. EA currently owns the Bond liscence. Thus, Goldeneye 2 will be by EA, and Perfect Dark 2 will be made by Rare on Xbox (if it ever does, considering how half the original Perfect Dark team left for Free Radical AND Rare has been going extremely slow lately)

I have $50.

What should I get? Mario Kart looks good, so does Rebel Strike, as wel as XIII...:hmm:

How many friends do you have? If more than just one, then definately Mario Kart. Rebel Strike has two player co-op missions, so if you only have one friend, then get that. I have no idea about XIII, I'm not even sure if it's pronounced "X-three" or "thirteen" :p

Same way you pronounce our moderator's name. :p

I guess it's pronounced "Knight-Dragon" then :p

I've been playing a lot of "Soul Caliber II" arcade mode games and the demo that plays after a KO is pretty embarassing. Mostly I saw my character slicing air three or four times before hitting the computer and killing it. My problem is that if I try to aim, I get clobbered by a special move, so I smash the A button at all times. :p

You could always try skipping the demo ;)

I tried the arcade thing once, and I got clobbered because I didn't know which button was which.

What if I have none? :( ;)

Kidding. But I think I'm leaning towards Mario Kart, I have many fond memories of the original, even playing solo.

Yeah, they really improved the single player IMO, although it's not as good as F-Zero. Grand Prix is now a lot more enjoyable since you can have two-split screen (or four players in two co-ops). Co-Op is really, really fun. :)

The only thing I think is worse than the older ones is the battle mode stages, since the four initial ones are pretty bad, but that's my only real gripe. The battle modes, however, are awesome.

I also like these tracks better, since although they are a bit short, they are very polished. The desert level, for example, as a giant sand-trap antlion, tornados, and pokeys that prove to be hazards. Every stage has at least one thing that makes it unique, which I really enjoy.

As for the racers themselves, I like the idea of using special weapons. The only ones that I have trouble using are the fireballs, Yoshi eggs, and Bo-bombs, and I never got that heart thing of Peach's yet, but the others I like.

Typically, I race much better as light characters (don't we all?) but it's still really fun to go heavy, especially bumping light guys off the stage :D

Dang Mario Kart is so fun, need to go play some more :D

The Bombs are quite hard to use, but if you through them back you will almost always get 1-3 of the other racers.
The Yoshi egg is like a better red shell. Although it spreads stuff on the stage aswell.
Peach's heart is great, you can steal other peoples weopons with it, and you are safe for 2 hits. Although, I almost never get it when I use her or Daisy (Hi! I'm Daisy!). The fireballs arn't that hard to use, and I almost always hit my target, and you get them often aswell.

Although, my favourite weapons are those of the Koopas, and Baby Mario bros. As well as Toads and Toadess' weapons.

I used to ride with light characters a lot in the beginning. Although I always use Browsers cart in Time Trial now, and usually a Medium cart in the GP's.

A problem I have with Mario Kart DD, is that many of the cart's stats are Boooorrriiing! Especially the small carts, I have like 3 carts with 1 speed 5 accelleration, and 2 weight, 2 carts with 2 speed, 4 acc, and 2 weight.

Why did they have to make duplicates? Stupid decision...

I think that that the GCN controller is by far the best current controller. The PS2 controller's jointsticks are too close to your hands, and the XBox controller just feels clumsy.

I think the problem with the heart thing is that it only comes up if you're behind, but the special seems to be more usefull up front. I rarely get the behind items, I have gotten a lightening once, the chain-chomp once, although I do get the golden mushroom quite often. Giant Banana I like, since it comes up a lot in first place, and when someone hits it, three more bananas come out. Although I do hate it when I hit my own banana peels...

The problem with the bombs is that a lot of times when I throw it behind me, someone crashes in it, catching me in the blast. Otherwise everyone passes it before it explodes.

Bowser shell is fun, especially on baby park, but I hate it when the shell bounces back and slaps me in the face.

Even though they don't say it, the karts have different handeling. Although I do wish the driver affects the performence of the kart, but whatever. And I do wish there was more of a difference between the clones. Baby Luigi has the best voice in the game though (Baby Luigi, number- not one! Heheh). And I wish shy guy was in the game.

Right now I'm working on 150cc all cup tour, it's annoying how it's so time consuming yet I never notice it.

I bought Mario Kart. I was a little bored at first, but now I'm getting into it. I've beaten all three cups with a bronze or silver, now I'm working on getting a gold in each in 100cc, then I'll probably move on to getting golds in 50cc and 150cc.

I've only played a little multiplayer (but of course it was very fun) but the single player is just as fun to me. Its amazing how addictive this game is, especially since there is alot of stuff to get (more than you think, considering there are only 3 cups available at the start).

Yeah, I think we were all a little bored at first. 50cc is so boring

Dang, Mirror Mode is so hard. It really does show how much I go by track memorization :crazyeye:

Personally, I think F-Zero GX is thrice the racer that Mario Kart is. Its much, much faster, much more of a challenge, has insane replay value, good multiplayer, and it has a lot of modes. Mario Kart single player relies too much on luck on the harder difficulties, while in F-Zero the AI never cheats. They go really, really fast sometimes, but they never cheat. F-Zero has lasted more than tow months in my library, andits going to stay.

I can't drive the normal tracks anymore :D

Mirror mode was hard at first, but after a while it feels like mirror is the normal mode :D

I agree, Grey Fox! :D

You know what's hard? The Gold Cup, or whatever it's called, the hardest one that's available from the start. I keep on getting second, I always get first on like two races and then botch one (get like 4th) and then get 1st or 2nd..:wallbash:

Are they any other notable games on GC? Not just new ones. I'm thinking of getting another game for Christmas, but I can't decide which ones are good, and no PC games interest me...

Personally, I think F-Zero GX is thrice the racer that Mario Kart is IN SINGLE PLAYER ONLY. :p F-Zero is the "better" game, with better graphics, speed, AI, racetracks, racers (uneven, but more), kart skins (IGN eat your heart out), shop, and stuff, but Mario Kart is just a lot more fun. For me at least, since I suck at video games so F-Zero is too hard. ;)

I suck in time trials, let me finish the mirror cups, and then I'll start doing them. ;)

Star Cup you mean? That was a pain for me too. The best way is to practice! I rarely ever hit the freezies in Sherbet Land now (although I run into the shy guys all the time), the shortcut in Mushroom City really helps, Yoshi's Circuit is annoying though, and on DK mountain hug the insides of corners when going down the rock mountain (it doesn't slow you down).

As for Xmas, I guess Viewtiful Joe would be your best bet, since that game rocks.
