The German Reich - Continued

I read the post about stacking ships but all I saw was a 2 hp battleship and a transport which I sunk. I was lulled into a false sense of security thinking they had no navy left. I was quite surprised to see 3 new battleships in one turn!

I killed off one mech. inf. outside Bremershaven. It was a conscript unit and one arty blast knocked it down to one HP and a panzer took it out easily. The only city I razed was Hangchow (size 5) which had an infantry and something weaker (and a catapult). Our arty knocked them down and the panzers killed them and moved back to the stack. Artillery will be the key to knocking their cities down.

Looks like we are in a war of attrition. I think we must knock down as many big cities as we can. That's why I sent the 2nd Panzergruppen NW of Alexandria. I think the 3rd Panzergruppen (when formed) should swing SW around the Eyptian Inland Sea towards Heliopolis. Their last supply of rubber is there. Any word on their oil? It would help immensely to deprive them of oil and rubber. Depriving the Egyptian citizens of some of their luxuries would help as well!

That oil tile near Kaifeng; did you guys destroy the roads leading fr it to Kaifeng and fr its harbour then on into the rest of Egypt? That oil may still be connected to Egypt.

Otherwise, they must have some more cities elsewhere. Or trading with someone although this is impossible now.

Or else one of their cities is sitting on top an oil tile. My gut feeling is on this - this has to be it. Someone will have to chk out the terrain for each and every Egyptian city. ;)

We really shld get the latest techs and their world map fr Cleo (in exchange for 'peace') and then turn around and backstab them. Reputation isn't that important now, does it?

joe, do your turns now. I.Pychosis doesn't seem to be around for some time already, so I am switching you with him. ;)

Up next - joe
Up next next - I.Pychosis

Give them hell, joe! :D

PS Mike, Pychosis, pls confirm you guys are still around. Your turns are coming up soon. ;)

My heart rate just went up.

I will probably use my entire 72 hours on this, due to work and the size of the campaign.

I will drop a few short posts as I go, to update everyone.

What a change of fortune... Wish me luck, I think Im going to need it. I will do my best.

Cleopatra, it's time for you to die! :egypt: :rocket:

I decided to end the first turn and let the cards fall as they will:

Egyptian armor took our new city of Kriegendorfer, but not much else.

I counter-attacked and took it back.

Then our artillery began a massive, thunderous bombardment and the panzers rolled.

Youre not going to believe this, but Asyut (the city Ohwell just marched the 2nd Army up to) is their last source of oil.

Correction: Was.

It also turns out that Mech Infantry isnt so tough when you hit it with 12 artillery bombardments back-to-back!

Alexandria is gone too!

Thebes is wide open and Im going to combine the two armies into one gigantic army-group and pummel it into dust!

You guys did everything right, you were so close and didnt know it. I couldnt have asked for a better starting position. Thank you!

We are back in the game!

Boy, am I glad I sent the 2nd Panzergruppen towards Asyut![dance] Since I couldn't find their oil I was tempted to swing south and west towards Heliopolis to get their rubber supplies. That seemed like such a long trek and the words of joespaniel came to me: 'strike at the heart of Egypt' (that's what he's been saying, more or less) and I headed for the size 20+ cities. What a stroke of luck that their last oil was in that first city!:goodjob:

We have to keep an eye on that oil since they could still try to plant a colony...

Knight-Dragon: We kept cutting the road on the oil tile in the north and the surrounding roads. I don't think the cities near that oil had harbors. In any event I had moved a carrier up there and planned to keep it and the other vessels in the area just to keep bombing those roads as they were rebuilt. There is (was?) also a destroyer or two right near Neapolis to keep the rubber tile there roadless. It's a good thing you reminded us about the importance of cutting these resources off! Your direction and the luck we had in Asyut really let us put Cleo in her place!:egypt: :spank:

Let's try to cut off rubber fr Cleo's grasp too. :D How many rubber resources do they really have? If they can only build riflemen, ..... this war's about finished. :D

Guys, I've enjoyed the game. Just a note for future reference (as you no longer need to know this, since you found the oil by accident), but there is a quicker way to check for oil "under cities".

Hit Ctl-Shift-M and all the civilization stuff disappears from the map. You can then do a quick scan for resources and see where they are located. Control-shift-m brings the cities/roads/mines/etc. back so you can locate it again at a later time.

Enjoy the rest of the game.

P.S. With no rubber, the best defensive unit is a rifleman. Use this knowledge as you see fit....

EDIT: I see Knight-Dragon beat me to the rubber information. Oh well. It's still worth knowing. :)

Thanks Arathorn, hope you enjoy the show!:D

There is also a button on the mini-map, I think, labeled "G" for Geography. It does the same thing.

Good news!

I have tonight off from work! Thus I will be playing our game, hopefully finishing my turns by tonight. I will post updates every couple hours, to take a break from the game and keep you all informed.

Thebes will be a tough nut to crack. Wish me luck.

If anyone has any advice, post it now because I will start in about an hour.

The Plan.

Phase 1 - Create Army-Group and march on Thebes. It will consist of 20 artillery, 1 Infantry Army, 1 Panzer Army, 12 panzers and 6 infantry. Anyone have a good name for it? Or the operation name?

The rest of our forces will defend our 2 cities.

Phase 2 - I have no idea yet, Im making this up as I go...:D

Welcome, Field Marshall, to Operation Egypt Rain .

Authorization code- 10T6592T3

- Objectives- Launch a year long campaign to destroy and raze Thebes.

- Friendlys- Operating in the Army group is the 2nd Infantry Army, the 4th Panzer army, 20 artillery divisions, 12 panzer units and 6 infantry batallions. Offshore will be 3 Carrier Groups, escorted by 2 destroyers, one Battleship, and one U-boat each.

Hostiles-
Infantry- Numbers unknown
Mechanized infantry- Numbers unknown
Artillery- Numbers Unknown
Fighters- Numbers Unknown
Bombers- Numbers Unknown
Battleships- Numbers- Aproxximatley 3
Armor- Numbers unknown
Cavalry- Numbers rounded to aproxximatley 10 to 25
Unkown hostile units possible.

<Takes off military compuiter uniform>

- I suggest puting 3 carrier groups nearby thebes as well.

Hit Ctl-Shift-M and all the civilization stuff disappears from the map.

NOW you tell me!:crazyeyes I will remember this piece of advice!

Last time I checked Cleo had 3 rubber souces: One near Neapolis, one near Alexandria and one by Heliopolis. The first was cut by a couple destroyers, The second I cut with the 1st Panzergruppen's artillery and the last is still viable.

"Comrade! Out think-tank reports we have entered a new age in our developement!"

Germany discovers rocketry! We now have V-1s and Me-262s!!!
(I love playing a scientific civ! 1 free tech at every era advancement!)

Report from the front:

Operation Egypt Rain has begun, Army-Group Center has taken up position on the hilltops overlooking the city of Thebes! 19 regiments of artillery are digging in and zeroing their guns on the Egyptian capitol. 14 panzer divisions await the command to attack, and 12 infantry divisions are defending the hills. An Infantry Army and a Panzer Army are held for reserve.

The Kriegsmarine is pounding the coastline of Egypt without respite, denying them access to their fleeting resources. We have almost completely cut them off from oil and rubber. Soon we will.

There are 50 divisions of Mech Infantry in Egypt now, but almost all of it is conscripted.

The GIA has intercepted this report from the Egyptian Field Marshall to Cleopatra:

Great Queen! The cursed Germans have overrun yet more of our cities, but I believe the war is finaly taking its toll on the German homeland.

No reinforcements have arrived on our shores, from Germany, for many months. Their production must be falling behind. Perhaps the German economy is worse off than we guessed.

The German Field Marshall Joseph von Spaniel has moved up to the outskirts of our mighty capitol, but he is in for a surprise. We will destroy his puny Army and turn the tide of this war.

Already our mighty armor has destroyed the city of Kriegsdorfer, they have retreated to Bremershaven again. We will push them into the sea!

Then our forces will cross the ocean and invade Germany, as they have no troops left to defend their homeland. Then the communists will pay!

Great Cleopatra, ruler of Egypt and the world! I will crush the arrogant Prussians and deliver the head of Chancellor Bismark to you on a pike! Death to Germany! Long Live Cleopatra! Long Live Egypt!

During my last turn, a week ago, I bombarded their coastal cities pretty hard. Destroyed alot of improvents like harbors and such, but just in case they built new ones, Im blasting away every road within a one square radius of each oil and rubber tile.

Im also bombing and strafing the roads and mines of other key cities to slow production of Mech Inf and Armor.

I have a Phase 2 now, and it is really, really evil! I hope you like it, its called "Operation East Wind", to play on the theme.

Its so top secret right now I cant devulge the details. Operational security, you understand. But I forshadowed a little in my previous post, you will have to read between the lines. ;)

More to follow tonight.

Really evil? How can it be more evil than razing every city;) . East wind, hmm. Seems like that has been used as a operation code name before;) . Cant even think of one yourself;) . J/k:D .(You know, "East wind, rain" that scenario for civ 2)
It sounds to me like you are planning a massive marine invasion! From the east side, your marine will come! I think thats it, hmm. Can't wait to see! :shotgun: :egypt:

The GIA has released this transcript from a Japanese radio news broadcast:

" From the battlefields of Egypt and occupied Japan comes news of a large German land offensive. The Egyptian capitol city of Thebes has come under a tremendous artillery bombardment. Initial reports claim 40,000 civilians have been killed, and numerous buildings destroyed including the Library, Granary and Barracks. The city defenders have suffered heavy casualties as well.

A naval battle took place off the coast of Elephantine, one Egyptian battleship was sunk, and a massive air/naval bombardment of the city began. Damage is reported to be severe.

A massive force of 24 Egyptian armored divisions with mechanized infantry and artillery support attacked the German outpost city of Bremershaven. The battle was considered by both sides to be the bloodiest of the war so far.

Our German allies prevailed, and destroyed the Egyptians to the last man, but at the cost of many infantry and panzer divisions. German newspaper and radio is trumpeting the exploits of two great leaders produced during the fighting.

The German foriegn ministry claims the Wehrmacht has cut off all oil supplies to Egypt, widespread shut-downs of factories and power plants are expected. Also German Chancellor Bismark alluded to new wonder-weapons that are to be unleashed upon Egypt in a speech to the Reichstag. No details were given.

Egyptian radio is off the air, and no contact between the beligerent governments has been reported.

An small Japanese expeditionary force has left the Island, but its destination is unknown at this time.
"

German government officials have confirmed all aspects of this report to be true.

I hereby recommend we confer the Iron Cross First Class on Herr Reichsmarshal Joseph von Spaniel for leading our forces to victory yet again. :goodjob:

How's the cutting off the rubber resource part? Are we up to producing mechs yet?

Mike, Pychosis, pls write in to tell us you're still around. Thanks.
