Yes, these turns are long: I played two in three hours. I want to play a couple more since it may not get back to me. Here's an update os far:
1986: Six cavalry attack Salzburg as riflemen approach from the east and tanks (mech. inf.?) and longbowmen come from the west. Our garrison easily holds and the invaders are destroyed except for one rifleman and one cavalry.
One of our destroyers barely survives an attack by an Egyptian ironclad off Chinan.
We have over 2500 gold!
We give a little to the GIA and in return we find that Egypt has 1 aluminum, 3 coal, 4 saltpeter, 4 iron and 4 horses supply depots. Egyptian citizens still have access to 5 different luxuries. The GIA also reports that (after shelling) Athens (size 14) is defended by a 2hp riflemen unit and two 1hp infantry divisions. We have 5 panzer divisions nearby and the order to attack is given. The two infantry divisions give way swiftly but the riflemen destroy one of our panzer divisions and nearly take out a second before they succumb. Athens is razed along with Leo's place. Lisht is also razed.
The army in Bremershaven is given orders to advance on Kahun while assorted panzer divisions are dispatched to Neapolis.
1987: Egyptian mechanized imfantry cut roads near Salzburg. Thinking our panzers are indestructible we attack! After losing a panzer division the attack is called off.
Egyptians emmisaries try to initiate peace talks and are rebuffed. Only 3 cavalry attack Salzburg.
Hey, we can build regular stuff!?! When did we go off our war footing? I missed that...
'We Love Cleo Day' celebrated in Byblos. Our artillery adds to the fireworks...
German mechanized infantry destroy Kaifeng. Neapolis razed by panzer divisions. Kahun razed.
Panzers detached from the army group near Byblos as another army group advances on Athribus.
1988: Begins with a six division cavalry attack on Salzburg. Egyptian mechanized infantry active near both Salzburg and Bremershaven.
That's where I left off this afternoon. Will play a couple more turns in the morning and turn it over to the next player. Perhaps it'll all be over this weekend!
