The Great DoC UHV v 1.11 challenge

You can change your core population by moving your capital?

still? I thought this was changed. Seems like an exploit.

I move my capital to Baghdad when playing as Iran. In Revision 599, it works; in the latest revision, it doesn't seem to.

But apparently the change/fix was made in Revision 616. Why does it work for Soul_Breathing in Revision 621 then?

It's my fault, I thought the capital counts as core population for granted, and didn't notice the change in rev.616. Now I see it changed, In fact move capital to Baghdad made no influence in my game.

if anyone is bored:

here I posted a save of my recent Indonesian domination victory. If you load that save and liberate enough cities not to win via domination you have a UHV-victory in about 20 turns.
(Virtual victory date: 1480, can provide save if wanted)

If you want to do that I'd be willing to accept that as a shared victory :D

Netherlands, 1733 (1700AD start), Monarch/normal, normalized score: 3501

I think that theoretically this can be won as early as turn 5(!).
Switch to Slavery&Secularism, build troops everywhere except your city next to india (worker to connect the spice!), Great Merchant in Amsterdam.
Conquer San Juan (Spice!) and Manila from Spain on turn 3, conquer Spanish city in Mexico next to spice on turn 5 (since this gives you culture next to it, after that the city is in revolt for 5 turns). Buy 1 from Akbar before the British annihilate him. Conquer the city in Indonesia next to the spice with heavy loses. At the same time try to get Shiraz for another spice (you can get the Ottomans to declare on Iran so they move most of their troops towards Baghdad)

England, -3000, V/N non-SVN; year: 1799, virtual: 1781. Score: 2208 (normalized: 4913)

Certainly not the best game possible, but still easily won.

One benefit of the -3000 start is that you can usually build the AP and catholic shrine in London, so there's no need to conquer Jerusalem.

I skipped all the non-essential techs, so I went Astronomy-Printing Press-Economics-Steel-Refrigeration (or something like that); and stole a couple of cheap ones from France. Gunpowder, Constitution, and Liberalism came later.

I got the cities goal in 1600; the era goal in early-1700s, then for the sinking declared war on Spain, Neth, Sweden, Thailand (why not). France declared war on me. Aside from this mega-war and Aztec&Inca and Mekka, I was always at peace.

Note that there are a few bugs in the continents. Mekka counts as Asia and Africa; New Guinea is Asia and Australia. Part of Quebec isn't North America.

Citis and Alhambram are both listed for China 3000 BC.
Chep and Bechamel are both listed for Korea 3000 BC.
Soul-breathing and Bechamel are both listed for Holy Rome 600 AD.

I'm quite interested as to how you've conquered Greece and still managed to get the techs necessary to complete the wonders on time.

1. Initial city built 2W of Babilú. If you don´t have any city you can pass through Jerusalem without declaring war. Build warriors there.
I researched Pottery first and Animal Husbandry, I think cottages are VERY important.
2. Jerusalem will culture flip to you.
Build there the Great Sphinx and obelisk, this city will give you all the Great prophets you need.
3. Babilú will have 1 warrior and 1 Bowman, you can conquer it with 6-9 warriors.
I conquered it with 2 warriors because they only had one warrior defending the city.
4. Build a settler and settle Niwt-Rst (How do you pronounce that?)
Build War Chariots and destroy Phoenicians and Greeks ASAP. If you don´t destroy Phoenicians Babylon will respawn.

With cottages the techs are easy to get, you can also built the Oracle.

Here is three UHV victories that needed many hours of playing. All of them are on Epic, Viceroy, no SVN. All of them are not very impressive victories, i think that others can do better than this easily.

Russia, 600 AD start, victory date 1929, score 2849.

A start with cities Moscow, St. Peterburg (Leningrad), Caricyn (Stalingrad), Sokol (maybe 1S a better city placement?) and captured Kiev. I waited with settling Sverdlovsk until after spawn of Turkey since that city lies in a flip zone. I sent a horse archer to far east for some good tech trade and i prioritized Engineering to create pikes for Mongolian invasion. After dealing with them, Mongols collapsed which gave me much freedom to settle in Siberia. I expanded bit too fast and i quickly fell behind with other technologically superior civs. However it isn't for nothing that Kremlin and Lubyanka is building specially meant for Russia: i stole many techs in whole game with spies. So i was first to get Manhattan Project (around 1910) and Apollo Program (1928). And in 1929 i managed to make 5th commie friend which gave me victory.
I felt bit disappointed because i got some stack ready to invade Korea and East-Europe. (They declared me war in 1909 because i refused to give cities at congress).
I think that 3rd UHV victory is bit boring, maybe other goal with bit more military adventure (Warsaw-pact area? (Whole Poland, Berlin, Budapest), some area in South Russia (Caucasus, Samarkand, Merv), Whole Mongolia, or following old Czarist ambitions to get Slavic areas as Belgrade and Istanbul (Holy Orthodox city).

Japan, 3000 BC start, victory date 1970, score 2632.

I chose 3000 BC start over 600 AD start because i wanted get Shwedagon Paya (which is already built in Pagan at 600 AD start). I used Shwedagon Paya (to able run scholasticism early) and Borobudur (extra artist slot per temple) combo to get great artists faster. I completed 1st UHV goal before 1400 AD. For 2nd UHV goal i captured Seoul early and settled at Manchuria and Philippines early. Spain somehow collapsed early (war with France and Holy Roman), so i never got trouble with them about Philippines. Mongols conquered whole China and i waited for their collapse. They gifted Shanghai to me and several turns later Fuzhou and Macau declared independence. I quickly captured them and waited for complete collapse of Mongolia to get remaining cities in China. However they recovered and they wanted all Chinese cities back which i refused. I was bit unprepared for war, fortunately i already got Nationalism which i think it is most important tech for Japan. With imperialism i can keep many cities in foreign cores without stability problems and with autocracy i could draft rifles against Keshiks. It was long and bloody war, especially around Shanghai which was captured several times by both forces. Eventually i did win war and took all Chinese cities and singed peace with Mongolians. Thailand had good relationship with me, but refused become me vassal even after i gifted them several tech, money and other things. So remaining option was war which also put me in war with Portugal who have Singapore. After dealt with Thais and Portugal i waited until i got infantry to get Indonesia (they are vassal of dutch who owned some Indonesian cities). Around 1900 i completed my 2nd UHV goal and rest of game i played peace-monger until end.

EDIT: I can't upload save of 1970 because it is bigger than 2 mb, i therefore upload save of 1902, the moment that i got 2nd UHV. EDIT 2: Thanks ales_ for help.

Ethiopia, 3000 BC, Victory date 1910. score 2458.

Settling Aksum and Gallabat (1N,3W from starting position, not good place but it grabs 3rd incense resource). Start research theology asap, micromanage, praying that other civs don't get it before me. I got it and Egypt collapsed shortly after that. But i lost 3 times in row a battle with +90% odds for me against independents, natives and barbs, i almost gave up this game. But i managed to get 3rd incense resource thanks culture border of Gallabat. After this i settled Gondokoro, Muqdisho and Zanibar. I razed native cities because if i capture them, Portugal can grab those cities with trading company. After this i bee-lined for gunpowder to get Askari to get rid of natives and later European colonists. I waited with settling rest of Africa until i got resettlement and representation because the stability of Ethiopia is a troubling aspect. So i want not switch civics too often. I got them both around 1540, but before that England and Portugal already started to settle before 1500. I razed their cities to prevent loss of 3rd UHV goal and captured Congo from Portuguese invaders. After this i played a peaceful game until end and got city in Madagascar with congress. My stability in 1910: +3, lowest point around -20 when i settled whole Africa in 1540.
