The Great Game 1

I have reset my computer clock to GMT, and it makes online meet-ups seem easier somehow. It also helps me to get my head around local times of various members when I'm trying to set up spontaneous games.

I would love to be included in the lineup, but I periodically need to leave town for work. Ironically, weekdays would be better for me since I tend to work on weekends...but if there's any possible way for me to swing the schedule I'll let you know.

PS-I would enjoy playing as Grigori since Vorschlump has claimed my favored Khazad.

PPS-I would suggest people use this GMT page for scheduling to avoid errors.
Well, having recently read the History for Kandros, you could take Arturus and we would be rivals. That would make for a pretty dwarf-heavy game, though.

Ummm, that time would be fine with me most of the time, but this monday, I have to get up early. Sooo, would it be possible to start one hour earlier just this sunday?

And it begins.....

Can I please be Dilbert of the Anonymous Corporation civ?

21:00 is fine with me.

But the good civs are outnumbered! There are 4 neutral (khazad, ljosalfar, grigori, amurites), 2 evil civs (doviello, balseraph) and only one good civ(luchuirp). I see me already crushed by an alliance of evil or neutral.

I think that elves are good, and neutral only when led by Tessa? And if dvarves take runes, they are more good than evil.
Kjaaly, you can quit hour earlier, or try to find a replacement for this session/last hour of session. In the end 20:00 is fine with me, time is negotiable so far, but we should settle this quickly if we want to play this Sunday.

Yay! I can't work tomorrow so I am definitely in. Thanks for setting this up the jopa.

20:00 is ok for me, too.
And the elves are only good when they are led by Arendel Phaedra.

But anyway pretty much all neutrals are more-good-than evil except Amurites who can really go either way.

"Hmm... If we're good, the people will hesitate before usurping us, but if we're evil, we gain cool magic.... Oh, maaagiiiic......"

Anyway, sorry for causing this trouble, but I'd hate to miss the early turns. I can screw up enough without the AI helping me...

Grigori are led by angel who sacrificed himself and his powers to help humans, so I see him more good than evil. I might be wrong though.

I added 20:00 to 23:00 as an option in the first page. What do you people prefer?

Are you playing on June 24?

I was considering playing, but I've never done MP before (or used Hamachi), so I'm not completely certain what to expect. (PMs or IMs explaining the software and the differences between MP and SP play would be appreciated, actually.)

I would be open to playing any civ. When will we establish the game settings? I propose a mostly-land map (Pangaea, etc.) so we will have relatively early contact with each other.

Jopa, have you decided upon a civ? I think we should maintain a balance between good and evil, which is leaning slightly in favor of evil now. In light of that, I would be open to Bannor, Elohim, or Malakim.

In a way, the Neutral Angels are much more good than the good ones. They are continuing to do what they were created to do, while the evil ones have become corrupt and the good ones obsessed with stopping the evil ones, fighting to protect us mortals, but destroying many in the process. It is the Neutral gods (originally Cassiel's) idea to make the compact, putting an end to the devastating wars. It is Cassiel who most tries to share the truth with humanity and to protect it.

Cassiel should be as strongly opposed to such "good" civs as the Bannor and their oppressively good god Junil (or Sabathiel) as to the evil ones, and should really not like either Hyborem or Basium, but he should get along quite well with the Elohim. Immanuel Logos and him seem like kindred spirits, not letting something as petty as religious differences stop them from doing what is right.

Basium was an angel under Arawn, the neutral god of death who mostly stayed out of mettling in Creation (acting in a way that Cassiel would like). If Basium had done what he was supposed to, he too would be neutral. It is rebelling against authority (much like Agares did, bringing evil into existence) that makes him good.

Neutral = Really Good, Good = Anti-evil (usually, but this might make the Elohim seem more neutral than good)

It'd be fun, but I usually end up with connectivity issues, not sure why. I'll be interested to read about it, though.

If there was some way to "shadow" the world. I.e. see the game but not be "in" it - you might be able to make a fantastic chronicle of what transpired. Stories are born thusly.

Some games allow observers, not sure about civ4, though.
Will we play at 20 or 21? I'll be on hamachi slightly before 20 onwards.
