Man, I have terrible mistakes signing RoP’s with the Swedes, Norwegians, Dutch and Danes, in addition to the Romanians (needed) and the Greeks ( helping fight the Bolsheviks). All of the AI units are clogging up my roads, but the worst thing is the turns are taking forever now watching all of their units move through Russia!
It’s all because of the empty Barbarian encampments, I will have to either make a bunch of mountains (impassable) or add sea terrain to eastern Russia and the Sahara to speed the game up and cut down on the encampment.

In any case, the Bolsheviks have proven they belong in the scenario as even just being a nuisance makes it more interesting.

Recommendations:
1. Retain culture on capture makes it pretty easy on the offense, but perhaps it shouldn’t be there since it’s WWI.
2. Light Artillery unit has no sound.
3. Armored Car unit has no sound.
4. Why is it that only the cities on the Kama River can build ports for Russia?
5. Should these cities on the Kama River even be allowed to build ports and ship units, since they can’t go anywhere?
6. Just started playing with the French and the sound of their Infantry unit is very weird.
7. Lots of Civs are building Guerrilla units, these should be upgraded to all Infantry so that the different Empires are not building them.
8. Create different Entente and Alliance versions for single players.
Recommendation: never use RoPs. I dislike them.

I really don't know, if it is worth of separate thread. Anyway, here it is, after almost two years of development, heh.

Yo can download TGW graphics update here.

Pics below.

Special thanks to Rocoteh and Sarevok - original creators of the scenario.

Special thanks to Delta_Strife and Vuldacon, who were kind enough to make units for this update at my request. Special thanks also goes to Moff_Jejerod, who kindly allowed me
to use Art content from his wonderful Le Grande Guerre scenario.

Contains minor balance updates and bugfixes, mostly inspired by discussions in the thread:

- removed pop-costs of units for better AI performance;
- removed lethal land bombardment for Zeppelins;
- slightly increased Russian Infantry offensive value;
- added ability to build Submarines to Germans;
- renamed Kaiserjager to Stormtrooper, updated civilopedia accordingly;
- removed sea trade from ports and air trade from airdromes, gave sea trade to major ports for turn time reasons;
- added "wheeled" flag to tanks;
- Secret Police HQ is not tied to Bolshevism - any nation can build it;
- removed transport capacity from submarines.

This tweaks should not change core experience of the scenario.

Enjoy!
Is this still available anywhere? the link seems dead sadly

Which link were you trying? There are several of them.

The "TGW Art & Text Files 2.1" link, which is the main one, was using http rather than https, which can cause download issues, especially on Chrome, which tends to block it as being insecure. I've switched that one to https so it should now download reliably regardless of browser.

I also repaired the "Link to the division version", which was not resolving and going to the forum homepage. Unfortunately, now that it links to the correct post, that post links out to the StormOverCiv site which closed several years ago. But on the previous page I found that fluyt re-posted the division version. I've now updated Rocoteh's post to include a link to that re-posted version.

That would leave the "Division fast" version as still missing.

And, welcome to CFC! :band: Enjoy the scenario!

Thank you, I was looking for the art files. I've tried both http and https on the mega link in chrome and firefox, but I get the error below.

Also thank you! Actually been here a long time - I couldn't access my old account but I've been hanging out here since I think Civ 3: PTW. I love revisiting 3 every couple of years. I must have played WW2: Short, Fast and Beautiful like a dozen times.

Could you quote the Mega link? I am not finding one either looking manually or searching the thread. All the ones I am finding are CivFanatics links.

You could PM leif erikson about the possibility of merging with your old account. I don't know exactly what the process is, but it may be possible to restore your tenure, and you aren't the first person to revisit the forums after many years and having forgotten the credentials to their old account.

Paasky's scenario! I have played that one a few times as well. Sometimes small and fast is better than long and slow.

Oh, sorry, sure, it was in the post I was quoting near the top I think?
This link doesn't seem to work for me.
and I'm good, I don't mind not having access to my ancient account, I'm just happy the place is still around <3

But where is that linked to from this thread?
It is the link under the word here in the quoted post of CorvusFortis in post 3442 of this thread.

Some general thoughts about all these different versions of TGW:

1.TGW 2.1 is a very old version of TGW (even several years older than the TGW-DIV versions) with land units on Brigade-level.
CorvusFortis made a graphical update of that version, that now is available again in post 3447 of this thread. A graphical update of that graphical update could be useful with all the additional units that are now available by delta_strife and the great land units of imperator1961, that Takeo fixed to the correct animation speeds in CCM 3.

2.TGW-DIV was created several years after TGW 2.1 was released and holds much more types of units (up to different slots for the super dreadnoughts of the Queen Elizabeth and the Bayern Class). It is based on Division-level and therefore has not as much land units on the map, making the game faster. Most land units are named (in contrary to TGW 2.1 - at least to the version I have). The TGW-Div versions have the German dreadnought "Großer Kurfürst" on the map, that was commissioned in July 1914 and was forgotten in the TGW 2.1 biq.

The last version of TGW-Div that I know, is TGW-Div 1.6. It is not working with the TGW 2.1 files in the TGW 2.1 folder.
The TGW-DIV 1.6 biq-file will only work if the TGW-DIV folder has been installed. I have the TGW-DIV 1.6 biq, but I don´t have the files of the TGW-DIV folder (these files were not included in the emergency transfer to civforum.de, that marine corps made short before the closing of the SOC site).

3. CCM 3 covers most of the units of TGW 2.1 and TGW-Div 1.6 (and even much more units of that time), as CCM 3 is also prepared to hold most of the units that are needed for covering AOI 5 in the future. It is easy to make a link from the TGW and TGW-Div biqs to CCM 3, as I made it from RARR to CCM 3, reducing the size for the RARR upload from over 1 GB to only some MB (RARR;CCM3;RARR).

This can be done (so I hope) easily with an update of TGW 2.1. Here the most time consuming part seems to be the addition of several flavoured units that are available in CCM 3, but not in TGW 2.1. Why should per example the graphics of British battlecruisers be used for German battlecruisers, while CCM 3 holds the graphics for all these named German battlecruisers, that are placed on the map? The same for dreadnoughts and so on. Most work here can be done by simply updating the pediaIcons file to the new unit names. I think, if all runs well in RL, I can do this for TGW 2.1 in about one week.

More problematic is to create the missing text files for TGW-Div 1.6, as I have to reconstruct them from the TGW-Div 1.6 biq. So if anybody has the TGW-Div 1.6 text files - especially the pediaIcons file - please post those small files here in the next days.

4. The "Division fast" version was a project for very old pcs in the first decade of the 21st century. Even when the later versions of TGW-Div were released, this wasn´t a big problem any longer, as even at that time long ago most pcs were capable to run TGW-Div 1.6.

Some problems I have noticed when comparing the settings of the TGW 2.1 -updated biq and the TGW-Div 1.6 biq:

The armored car (AC) in both versions is a lame duck with 1 MV, 10A, 5D, cost 120 (in TGW 2.1-u) and 1 MV, 9A, 4D, cost 120 (in TGW-Div 1.6) compared to the much cheaper Kavallerie with 3 MV, 9A, 6D, cost 90 (both in TGW 2.1-u and TGW-Div 1.6). The same compared to normal cavalry in in TGW 2.1-u (3MV, 8A, 4D, cost 80). In TGW-Div 1.6 the relations here are better compared to normal cavalry (2 MV, 4A, 3D, cost 140). The additional setting of bombardment for the AC is of no value for the AI, as the Artillery strategy is missing in the settings (and for an artillery unit with these costs in my eyes would be lousy, too). Even the setting, that the AC can be upgraded later to a tank and the cavalry cannot upgrade, in my eyes is not justifying such a setting.

TGW 2.1-u (and TGW 2.1) are missing the German dreadnought Großer Kurfürst (commissioned July 1914) on the map.

The placed German dreadnought Helgoland in Kiel holds a very small typo (Heigoland) in TGW 2.1-u.

May be for the "big ships" in TGW 2.1-u, it would be good to use the stats of the TGW-Div 1.6 biq.

I am still looking at the unit stats in both versions of TGW.

In TGW 2.1 and TGW 2.1-u all governments, but the starting governments are becoming obsolete, before they can be researched. In TGW-Div 1.6 only the government Fascism has such a setting, all other governments can become accessable during the game. The government Second Reich is not available in TGW-Div 1.6. I think it would be good to give TGW 2.1-u the same settings for the prerequisites as they are in TGW-Div 1.6. The mess in the techbox of the tech American War Entry with all these obsolete government-specific buildings, overflooding the size of the techbox, would still stay, so may be one of these buildings should become obsolete with a different tech.

BtW.: This is a nice work with the tech arrows in TGW 2.1-u. :) :thumbsup: The tech-arrows (at least for me) cause much more work than most players would estimate.

This problem also has the consequence, that the government-specific buildings of those governments, that become obsolete before their tech can be researched, cannot appear in TGW 2.1 and TGW 2.1-u if they are not preplaced on the map in connection with a starting government.
