Portugal has historically been aligned with Britain, despite its neutrality. I'm not sure that changed very much during the Salazar dictatorship.

Being caught between the historical obligation of the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance, and Franco, who was considered a, "soft," Axis sympathizer, was probably a big motivator for Portugal's neutrality, at the end of the day.

I read Portuguese neutrality was enforcing Spannish Neutrality.

To resume,
Franco was massing troops next to Gibraltar and the Pyrenees, fearing both allies and germans actions towards strategic neutrals (Iceland for allies, list is long for germans).
Portugal joining allies was then seen on the allied side as an incitation for franco to align with germans to counter this new front threatening him.

Portugal was too well aware of that situation, and both Portugal and Spain had too few resources to give in this war in compare with the opening of this new front. Their natural alliances both lacked resources too to support these countries militaries. Thus the stalemate (which only Hitler tried to disturb)

Sounds very plausible. If Portugal was aligned with Britain as I understand, then keeping it neutral was in the British interest. Brilliant!

There was two perspectives inside the regime: pro-allies and pro-axis. Salazar itself was pro-England (not pro-USA), but was a friend of Mussolini, Pétain and Franco.
The portuguese neutrality was connected to the spanish neutrality. In case of Franco joined the Axis, it would be a strong possibility of an english intervention in Portugal, like in Greece.
If, in game, Franco join Axis, it must be a chance (50%-50%) of Portugal join allies, axis or enter in a civil war.

Other suggestion: in ww2 Slovakia was a puppet state, not an occupied like Czechia or Poland, and some divisions participated in the invasion of USSR.
It would be nice to create slovak infantry units in Bratislava.

Yes, they even there own section in fairline's WW2 Minor Axis big collection (though, oddly, Thailand doesn't).

Hi! I'm still playng this fantastic scenario, don't know if anyone is playing too.
A question: qhat can I do with He177 strategic bomber? I cannot attack units or cities because it's says that is a halftrack with 0 attack force.

Hi ruivasconselos,

As I recall the He-117 is one of the scenario units that use munitions. To do so, once next to your target, and while the plane is the active unit, press on the ‘k’ key and that should generate a bomb unit in the plane’s hex, which you can then use to attack your target hex.

I don’ t remember exactly but you may have to return the plane to a friendly city afterwards to ‘reload’ a bomb on the plane.

You should check the scenario readme to check.

It’s a big scenario for sure but it is so well made, fun and challenging that I highly recommend it.

I'm in sept. 1942 and I just defeated USSR. I'm not sure if I will invade UK or just wait for starvation via u-boot campaign.

Hi! Glad @tootall_2012 could help you with this. As he mentioned, it's a strategic bomber, so you'll need to press "K" (I think - better double check the docs but that's what I usually use) to use a munition. To rearm, simply land at a base. This prevents it from attacking over multiple turns given its time aloft. Basically it just checks to see if it has a home city or not (you'll notice after you attack, the home city will be "none" and "k" won't work any more).

Ok JPetroski, thanks. The readme not explain much... What happens is that, even returning to a city, the he177 keep having no bombs... It must return to the home city?
