Edward I: King of England (1239-1307), also known as Edward Longshanks, who suceeded in conquering Wales but failed in conquering Scotland.

He actually conquered it twice, but it didn't stay conquered, but I quibble. He was a really cool king, they should make a movie about him, a good one that doesn't star a midget.

Now to the game.

I think that if you use geographical places, you should also point out any relevant history of the place. Otherwise, it would be too easy just picking cities from the world. And it´s a history game not a geography one... What do you think?

I agree. The historical references is what makes this game fun to me.

Hmmm alright.

Nicosia: Nicosia is a capital and Largest city on the island of Cyprus. For a long time it was a small and unimportant town, and it recived it's first Cristian Bishop in 348. Later in the tenth century it became the islands Capital. It was long ruled by a monarchy, until captured by the Venetians in 1498, and was later sieged and captured by the Ottomans in the Late 16th Century. In the 18th Centuary it was the center of Revolts and Cholera, and eventually ended up in the hands of the British. During a greek revolt and a Turkish counter invasion, Nicosia was the center of much strife until the Cypriot independance in 1974.

@Arronax: Are you referring to Danielos's useage of the Ottoman Empire? Considering it's a history game, and the Ottoman Empire played a very important part in history, I relly don't see the problem...

No, to the existence of USSR in the previous post.
Napoleon starts with N, Normandy ends with Y. Please correct.

I ignore the Napoleon-post and go from Y. I also agree that USSR should not be included...

Ypres (Belgish town that was a centerpiece of several large battles during World War I)

Since I use Y instead of D (next last letter) Belgium gets a bonus point (se rules first page)...
