portuga messaged me last week to take over his civ on Friday if there hadn't been any objections. I didn't because of the patch - so I'd appreciate it if you can kick him to AI until I can take over with the patch on Monday or so... since that will lose at least a turn or two less.
 
Just so everyone is aware my inclination when patches become available is to apply the patch at the earliest opportunity.

Once I know a patch exists and assuming that I am available and have the time I will wait until after a turn passes before patching thereby allowing the maximum amount of time for players to patch and play their turn.

If any player were to run into problems I would expect them to contact me and if necessary I would pause the game.

and to let you know the way most PTBS hosts do things around here, their policy is to mention it in the thread, get a plan in place for when to do it, and then go ahead with a shutdown period giving people around the world a chance to patch and make sure things are working - often they're setting up a dual install at the same time because of other games not yet patched.

Just so you know where many of us are coming from, in terms of expectations.
 
I have advised JMaltman that he may take over Rome any time from now on.

It is about niamors situation:

7/24/07 8:31 am A new turn has begun. It is now 1390 BC
7/23/07 1:40 pm A new turn has begun. It is now 1420 BC
7/22/07 7:09 pm A new turn has begun. It is now 1450 BC
then played 1 turn
7/22/07 12:24 am A new turn has begun. It is now 1480 BC
7/21/07 6:07 am A new turn has begun. It is now 1510 BC
7/19/07 9:54 pm A new turn has begun. It is now 1540 BC
7/19/07 3:07 am A new turn has begun. It is now 1570 BC
then played 1 turn
7/18/07 8:22 am A new turn has begun. It is now 1600 BC
7/17/07 1:33 pm A new turn has begun. It is now 1630 BC
7/16/07 6:49 pm A new turn has begun. It is now 1660 BC

I was just wondering if others have a problem with this? I read that he was going on a vacation for 3 weeks, and that a sub will play for him. The idea having a sub is to play your civ so u do not miss any turns. But from what i've seen the sub has logged only ones in the last 7 turns.
 
Due to having no replies from niamors sub, in around 6 hrs it will be the consecutive missed turn. Will you switch him to an Ai Bolkonski then?

I will act in accordance with the rules, which are appended below:

Missed turns

Missed turns for four or more days, six or more consecutive turns, effectively ninety-six hours, without notification will result in immediate replacement of the human player by an AI player and by a new human player as soon as one becomes available. Once replaced by a new human player the original player will not be able to take their civilization back.

Also, in the absence of a means of contacting the substitute, I will forewarn Niamor by email that inaction will result in the above occuring.

(But I do agree with you, and thanks for taking the time to speed up the game.)

btw - does anyone know what happend to WVUfan? He set up two pitboss games - the one I was in was/is called Brave New World 1.0. No sign of him, or the game, since June.

Hey i'm trying, i think if we all try the game can go faster. Not trying to set records, just if possible fit 1.5/2 turns per day :D
