The ink of the squid is bitter. I don't like it. Come to think of it, I don't like to eat anything that comes from an invertabrate, or has a shell.

It's made from mostly nectar, and a bit of bee saliva. Not the actual bee though.

Due to the extreme depths that they live in, AFAIK.

Though there must be other reasons as well, some of which I am too lazy to post right now, others that I don't actually know...

But people have explored extreme depths though, with the Alvin, and when they were exploring the Titanic. I don't think they are extreemly rare, and why didn't they try the camera thing before?

just becaus epeople have gone down to the depth that such animals live at by no means garuntess that they will see such an animal, or any trace of it at all.

I don't think they have really *explored* the deep ocean. Sent a few submersibles down here and there, that's it. And the cameras on those things only work within a few dozen feet, due to the darkness. Even if giant squid are fairly common, I don't think the odds would be high for any particular trip to be successful if you're just searching at random.

They *have* tried the camera thing before, many times. They've even tried putting camera's on the backs of sperm whales to see if they can catch them hunting the Giant squid. However, in all previous attempts, they never caught em on film.

And it's not like the things stay put waiting to be found... You have to find a place where they actually live before you'll find one floating around.
