The Law of the Jungle

Ahuitotl trains his public speaking to increase his fame to 4 (train fame to level 4)

(this will presumably cost 10 gold (4 to get to level 3 and 6 to get to level four, yes?)

The "^" symbol denotes an exponent, not multiplication.
So you need to read (current level+1)^2 as (current level+1) raised to the 2nd power, or (current level+1) squared.
So it costs 9 gold to go from level 2 to 3, and 16 gold to go from 3 to 4.

Likewise for procreating, you need (current characters+1)^2 excess food to get another character.
GreyWithAnE had to spend 4 food to go from 1 character to 2.
If he choose to procreate again this session he'd need 9 food to go from 2 characters to 3.

I thought that was a fairly common notation, but I'm realizing through questions and PMs that not everyone is familiar with it.
So, sorry for confusing folks.... but hey, you just learned something mathy from playing a game!
Hooray for learning! Hooray for math! Hooray for games!

Sorry, I know what the symbol means its just that I was lazy and didn't bother to check I had the right protocol in mind when I made the order. Ergo I forgot the protocol for training and confused it with something else which is irrelevant to this particular game. Anyways I have revised my order.

23-Nov-11
  • Changed council session terminology (section 3)
  • Clarified rules on slaves and tenant actions when no actions submitted (section 8)

@Jehoshua - no problem. Wasn't trying to pick on you. The issue seems to keep coming up, largely in PMs, so seemed like an oppurtune time to put something out to the whole group

@Yahzuk - no problem, its my fault anyway for failing to check the detail before I submitted my order.

edit: and on orders I have deleted my revised order in lieu of other possibilities to consider.

Order changed to punish a defiant peasant :p

Well, well. Tenochtitlan ought to have this Monument built by now, but what is happening? City dwellers are spreading their work effort elsewhere. It's back to the drawing board for me.

Let me congratulate my friend Eazulotl for becoming an influential Citizen! And happy festival of Thanksgiving to all!

Yes, let us celebrate the thanksgiving feast which commemorates fertility, and the Lord Tlaloc. Yes, may we honour the Lord of rain and giver of life with the fitting sacrifice of a child, so that He may be well pleased with Aztlan and give it, and its great Tlatoani many blessings. For truly what better thanksgiving for the fertile earth of Atzlan is there than to sacrifice that which sprung forth from the produce of the land to him that gives us life?

I call upon Eazulotl to sacrifice his child Ebzulotl to the great god Tlaloc, for it is truly a great festival and is most fitting that a child be offered up from all of us to Him (ooc: :p)

The festival of Tlaloc seems to bring out the worst in people. Having read Lieutenant Sparthage's dispatches from the field, I decide to take up his regimen and train by spending 29 gold on XP giving me a total of 4 XP, if I am correct.

As soon as Ahuitzotl claimed his authority on the Land of Gems, Joatzli took the determination to leave. But first he toiled to survive another day, as Ahuitzotl gave him the rest of the day to gather all he could to survive.

In the morning, Joatli went to the peak of the highest mountain in the Land of Gems. He looked at the city down in the valley, but he was not to be a tenant to anybody, so he began walking all night. He moved 1 to NorthEast away from the city.
Finally, in the morning, he got to a new place were food could be grown and stone removed, and rested from his journey.

Kill my master and become free again.

Your digging yourself a hole christos...

Ahuizotl, you can't capture me. The rules clearly state that the only action a landowner can take against a tenant is to evict them.

Well damn, your insolence temporarily clouded reason and led to an insatiable urge for your perpetual and everlasting servitude. Oh well, at least you now know that if you ever, ever leave the protection of my lordship you will be hunted down like wild game, and sent to the toil until your but a catatonic zombie ready to be sacrificed to the gods.

*sigh* anyways I will just have to enslave someone else as a consolation prize thanks to this unfortunate custom. Thats right Prinz von Persien, the hounds are coming to capture you. (orders once again edited) Either way, at least I can know that you will be forced to toil for me every second turn regardless :p

-

PS: And here I thought peasants had no special rights of priveleges, curses for that obscure "right" written within the description of the evict action.

Christos, I don't think you can free yourself now. You have your second turn, not first. Additionally, you could fail... Again.

Actually he has his first turn, since the first turn is absorbed only if the slavemaster gives orders.

Also I would like to mention that Christos' second turn is already occupied with toiling for the landlord. Ergo he has no escape... well he would have no escape if his master ordered him to do things, in that case he could do nothing to even attempt escape since all his turns are occupied with duties to master and to landlord.

Chicona stood in front of his home, hovel, really. The darkness outside was providing a good cloak for whomever was creeping towards him. He held Tlatotec, his trusty knife, at his side, ready to strike like a jaguar at whatever menace lurked outside his door.

Then, the person materialized out of the dark. He was a... She. Her dark black hair cascaded down to her shoulders. Her voluptuous body and breats perfectly comlemented each other. All she wore was a peice of fabric tied around her waist, and another peice of fabric tied around her chest. Quite attractive, but sometimes those ones are the most dangerous. He challenged her, "What are you doing at my dwelling!" She sidled up to him, and he tensed.

In an almost purring voice she said, "I'm here to have some fun. Are you game?" He was about to refuse when she began kissing and touching him. He immediately responded and began pulling her towards the bed.

Next Morning
It had been a great night. Jasmit, for that was the mysterious woman's name, was a very kind and compassionate woman. In fact, he couldn't wait for her to get back. She had proved to be quite knowledgeable on a range of subjects. He heard his door opening, and quickly turned from his meager breakfast of bananas and meal. She looked kind of embarrased.

"What is is," Chicona asked, "is something wrong?"

"Well... I... I... I am pregnant," Jasmit replied.

That suprised Chicona. It knocked him flat, in fact. After he managed to take that fact in, he replied, "Well... I didn't mean to procreate, but I am making a good living, and can afford to support a child. I will take the child in."

"Ah, good. Thank you Chicona. Do you mind if I come back tomorrow? I found our conversation today quite enjoyable."

"You are welcome. And no, I would love for you to come back tomorrow as well. I loved our conversation also.

"Good! Tomorrow it is then." With that, Jasmit walked back out and started on her way home, wherever that was. Chicona watched her go with a smile. All in all, it was turning out to be a good day. He had a child, hopefully a son, on the way, and he had begun a relationship with a beautiful woman, who was intelligent to boot! Things are looking up!

ooc: As honour doesn't seem to have any effect...

IC: I overthrow Eazulotl. "The gold you own has turned you into the tyrant you claim that no-one should be. Your hypocrisy cannot be ignored."

ooc:  time to get out the popcorn and watch the show.

Oh and on honour, I suppose its only effect is that someone could call you out for unlawful conduct, whereas an honourable option is perfectly licit and can't be responded by accusations of tyranny and unlawfulness. Although of course calling you out on something would imply that someone is willing to act once your sitting on top of the yillfruit heap, hopefully (for you) the Tlatoani will ignore another usurpation and conveniently lay aside thoughts of reinstating in the west a nice confidante in power, a position I would think Eazulotl fills (That massive wad of transferred gold implies something ;) )
