Morbid but comical? I think not...That way of looking at it is distorted...
As offended as I am I have to take a page out of EweezE's book and mix it with a little bit of your twisted logic: Germany should not be included in the next game considering how many times they tried steal their neighbors land, murder the locals, and impose their own culture...same goes for England, Spain, Russia, Japan...
Where do you come from Charlie_B? Maybe there's something for you too.![]()
Ur, once again, you sort of misunderstand me Dvalin. Here's the quote...
"Just look at America's history - discovering new land, murdering all the locals, imposing your own culture etc - that's what Civ's all about!"
What's morbid, comical, and a bit true is that this is what Civ is about (let's face it, that is how the game is played 90% of the time - it's morbid, comical, and accurate that most of Civilization is smashing someone's civilization), not so much specifically America's history. And fact is, this is a pretty morbid, comical, and accurate statement about most imperial and national history - be it the Americans, the Germans, the French, the English, the people who first came to the new world, any number of conquering nations in mainland Europe, Asia, Africa...
There is a lot of anti-American sentiment in this forum, that is true, and I can understand why you're a bit sensitive. Just when you see something from me that looks suspect, I'd ask you to give me the benefit of the doubt - I wasn't raised to think that way, and my upbringing stuck. Your country is a hoot and a holler to visit, your countrymen are mainly friend (outside of New York and L.A.), and my only criticism I level against it is that it isn't perfect nor above reprimand and shouldn't be treated as such - much the same charge I'd level against any nation.
Oh, and if my logic is twisted, perhaps you could tell me how to straighten it out
