The Long Delayed PBEM

I don't think that's possible, Bowsling. You should only give the password to someone you trust. But then again, it's only a game. ;)

Welcome Natuland!
Perhaps you can be a substitute for Bowsling during his vacation in August?!

Lanzelot
Thank your for the welcome, I have been Honored with a message from Bowsling on the subject of temporary placement here and also Honored to meet the group of you. Eclipse boosts many stories about this Forum for many years now and I hope find this here as well

GPS Bowsling......

Welcome Natuland, this is a great forum with lots of information to improve your game play and many friendly players still playing CivIII. Also check out the Game of the Month (GoTM) and Hall of Fame (HoF) forums. Enjoy your time here.

I received your email but the turn was not downloadable due to something other than my setup

I receive turns via this email regularly. Password needed???

Scratcher, can you please send your copy of the save to Natuland. Bowsling's attempt at using the copy you sent him may have altered it. Thanks.

gps to Calis

yes I received a email containing a TGW_roster txt but after playing the Ottomans here I wonder if I am playing a TGW game for him too? If I am that is fine.

I also read that Calis who I send to is going to be temporaily replace by Chamnix like I am doing, if so when and I do not have this players address.

This is a bit awkward for me, not the game but using this medium (Forum) for a game, I have never done this before. Any pointers on how to get comfortable using this medium would be appreciated.
Thanks
Natuland

Hi Natuland,
sorry, I accidentally attached the wrong file to the mail. (Had been kind of late already...). TGW is long over.
Sent the correct one right now.

Basically what you do in this forum is: post a little "GPS" whenever you got a turn, played it and sent it on to the next player. This allows everyone to keep track of where the game is currently at.
Also in case of battles, you should post a little battle report about those things that the opponent would usually see if this were a single-player (or real-time multi-player) game. In an email-game, the opponent does not see any of your actions, and that would not be fair compared to the SP version of the game.

Some players also like to add little details about their games to make the story more interesting, to set little riddles for their fellow players or to lead them on a false clue...
(Eclipse is quite good in this department, and Cyc as well... Other players just do the mandatory GPS. That's fine as well, there's no obligation to give away details about your game, it's completely voluntary.)

The regular GPS in this thread also helps a lot in cases where the current .sav "gets lost". (Which has happened occasionally during a long absence of a player or due to email spam filter problems...)

Some treaties and alliances that are formed during the game, or other things of general interest, can be made public on this thread. The rest of the diplomacy can take place in direct player-to-player email communication. But remember: no email diplomacy before in-game contact is established!

I think Chamnix is taking over from Calis today, so you should perhaps also send your turn to his mail address.

Thanks, Lanzelot

Sorry about the mess I created, gentlemen. Hyperlinking the save didn't work originally, but I resent the save later, and completely neglected the password through all that.
I will once again be able to play most saves, however, some that I can't play will be foreworded to Natuland.
Calis, can you send me and Natuland Chamnix's email?
