We don't know how far the trench goes.

Cthulhu might live down there though.

How do they measure the speed of light anyways?

Memorising numbers was my speciality in school. Avogadro's Number is 6.0221367 x10e23, pi is 3.14159265359 and so on.

Why can one see faint stars in this picture of the Earth? Shouldn't the brightness and glare of the Earth cause the stars to not appear at all?

I see some small bluish blurs, but I'm not sure they're stars.

I can't find a single star in that pic :p
I can. :p

Try adjusting the color/brightness settings on either your monitor or the video card.

I can see random faint blue dots.

Mind you, i'm looking at the picture full-size, meaning i disabled the browser's automatic shrink-picture thingy.

I think they are, cuz I clearly saw Ursa Minor to the lower right of the Earth.

OK, you are photoshoping a picture taken in 1972 and then asking why a tiny faint pixel of a star isn't washed out by other light?

Seriously, dude, with all possible love, move on..... :)

I didn't upload it. I never touched it at all. :p
