The Missing Links (C3C)

Hi,

actually, the file I had was exactly the same, so at first I couldn't figure it out, but now I did. There's nothing wrong with the file, it has to do with Atari changing the industrial tech tree in C3C v1.22. So:

If anyone has the Industrial tech tree displaying wrong, go to the folder
...\Civ III\Conquests\Scenarios\TML3\Art\Advisors
and rename the file science_industrial.pcx to science_industrial_new.pcx

Hello!

This was the first mod I ever downloaded (around Sept), and I really like it! The extra wonders (great and small) are really cool, and I almost tore my sides open laughing the first time a terminator levelled up.

About the unlimited Assassins thing: I thought it wasn't too bad once I understood that I needed 2+ pikemen in each city, it just became the new status quo and I tried to expand as much as possible before Islam came out. It just changed the way I had to think. I also really liked the black color instead of white for barbarians. As for late game with terrorists, I thought it was fun to set up barricades with 1 special ops and 2 modern inf every 5 sqaures or so along my railroads, it added to the game, in my opinion. I also got alot of leaders out of terrorists (I named one 'Hamas' and it got killed the same day Arafat died, which really spooked me!).

The APC/Modern Infantry concept was also very cool. I'm now playing a R&R game and that's once concept I wish they would have included that. You also mentioned earlier that Germans complained about including Waffen SS in the game, and I tend to agree with them, being of German descent myself. The swastika on the Fascism tech kinda bothered me to, but that's a personal opinion.

All in all, a really good mod, I had no problems with it working, except that it annoyed me that I couldn't put APCs in boats (although I can see the problem there with putting full APCs in transports and moving 30 units per boat!), but there's precious little time, and after playing two large maps through, I've gotta finish a couple of R&R games then check out MOM, WH, and RHYSE.

Thanks!

One other thing! Food supplies! Those REALLY pissed me off! I researched refrigeration right away, and when I saw about 2 or 3 supplies per continent and maybe 6 worldwide, I felt really ripped off! Those should have been more abundant in my opinion.

That's it!

How did you make the image for the title screen?
It's terrific!

@ Landmonitor:
Thanks for the (mostly) positive comments. Always very encouraging. BTW - I agree with you on the amount of Food Supplies (although it's not as bad as you describe), but for bonus resources, the editor doesn't let you determine the amount that will appear; it's the same for all bonus resources. As for making it a strategic resource, I'm not really sure how it would work, because you can trade strategic resources. I'm not sure what the effect would be from trading Food Supplies, if any.

@Azmorg:
The title screen is part of a somewhat larger image made by a 3D artist called Decadence. I found it on the internet and thought immediately that it would be an ideal title screen for civ. Decadence gave me permission to use it. And then it still took me like 4-5hrs of work to transform the image into the title screen, using PSP8.0

I didn't suggest making them a strategic resource! What I did think would be good (but didn't mention) was if workers could "build" food supplies, but that's probable impossible due to hard coding, and if it were possible, would be unbalancing unless they were limited to 1 per 5 cities or something (like armies).

i cant install it as a 2 part thing is there anyway u can give the whole thing in one part and the read me text document doesnt help.

euh, yes you can.
Clicking on the first file (the .exe) will automatically install the 2nd file (the .rar) as well. No need to try and extract it separately.

I liked the mod for the most part. It appears that the AI cities expand faster then player cities. I don't know if that is just me or something about the game. Additionally, I did like the idea of the Assasins when I first started. However, for over 1000 years (game time of course), probably longer, all I could do was prepare for these incessant AI assasin attacks. All they would do was steal my workers....and that turned into a battle of worker stealing both by the AI and myself. So what have I concluded? I don't really like having to worry about an AI opponent constantly stealing my workers. Other than that..I like it.....So, how do I change that? I have tried to change the mod...and after it is saved, it says it is missing some pedia file...for the Kaba or something like that.

Try this first; it's my own personal "final version". Among other things, Assassins and Terrorists are more expensive, so less frequent.
If they still bother you, turn of their "hidden nationality" in the unit abilities.

I've never even tried to mod a civ file, but I remember reading that there is a limit to the number of armies you can have which is determined by the number of cities in your civ. If this restriction can be applied to any unit (and therefore Assassins/Terrorists), maybe that could slow down the AI's overuse of them?

eu...
1/ download it;
2/ follow the install instructions.
3/ Then read the .txt file explaining what the mod does with the game
and 4/ play :p

hi there i like the sound of your mod and i downloaded it but its not working for me it gives me an error when i try to play it. says it can find a file for a transport. now when i run part one is it suppose to automaticly do part 2 after it ? i tried running part 2 myself and when i ran it through a rar decoder it told me that it was damaged and needed a par file to correct it. any ideas how to correct or get around this. thanks for any help

I have never use winrar when I download it where do I put the winrar program ( which file on my computer)

eu, sorry for the delay:rolleyes:

nope, doesn't work on PTW, only Conquests.

and it doesn't matter where you download the .rar to. Just clicking the .exe will self-extract both the .exe and the .rar
Really easy.

Ciao.
