Civilization VII – Features Thread

Two comments about the cities:
  • Ibn Battuta's FL confirms Makkah as an Abbasid city
  • Djedet is erroneously listed as a Persian city. (from the Isabella livestream). The city itself is Egyptian, and was presumably captured by Xerxes off-screen.

I kept track of the cities shown in the livestream. You've done a fairly good job keeping track, here's a few I spotted

Greece: Phókaia (I misspelled it in the thread, apologies), Mykene
Persia: Pathra-Gada (Pasargadae)
Abbasids: Harrân (Carrhae), Al-Mawsil (Mosul)
Chola: Girinagara (If it refers to Bangalore, I think it's Cholan? if it refers to Girnar, it's Mauryan)
Ming: Guangzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou
Mongols: Khuudu Aral, Dulüün Boldog
Normans: Everwyk (York)
French Empire: Marseille
Mughal: *Delhi* (yes, DELHI is the Mughal Capital somehow. The Indians are going to love that), Agra, Multan, Burhanpur.
Siam: Chonburi, Nonthaburi, Chachoengsao

That's the name of it.

Russian cities: St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nikolaieff

(yes the last one is the Ukrainian city. Can of worms and all that.)

Well, there's a settlement with a similar name in Russia, but it's so small that Firaxis clearly meant Ukrainian city. Considering it got the status of hero city for repelling Putin's army in 2022, having it as part of Russia city roster looks like really bad idea.

I had the same thought.
I wonder what are the other cities.
Also, a historical fact, Catherine was the one who disbanded (Ordered to destroy Zaporizian Sich) the original cossacks, so it is a strange decision they still added them.
Thеy could have easily added something different like bronevick(APC Lenin drove during revolution) or Matrosy.

Catherine disbanded only one of many cossack armies and restored it later. Although she was constantly limiting their freedom, they remained important part of Russian army till 1917 revolution (and took part in civil war for some time afterwards).

well, Mykolaiv WAS founded by the Russian Empire (Catherine founded loads of Ukrainian cities in her reign. Dniepropetrovsk for instance is also one of them).

However Imperial Russia has a massive list of cities INSIDE the current borders or Russia that it could draw from instead.

That's true, and I agree that it's better to focus on current borders. Russian Empire controlled a lot of territories, even more than USSR (i.e. including Finland or Alaska), I wouldn't want those territories to contribute cities to the Russian list.
