The most Beautiful Language?

The best-sounding language is Italian, as spoken in Rome and northern Italy, hands-down. But the best-looking languages are tied: Arabic and Chinese.

No contest for me - Swahili. Especially in song.

For speach, I like the sound of French and Italian. For song, I like English and Italian.
I dislike German and Japanese, I found them to harsh. But the worst goes to Dutch: anytime I hear an announcement in Dutch at Schipol airport, I think the announcer will break his jaws.

For writting, My favourite is Quenya, very nice alphabet!

Irish is easily the most beautiful language I have ever heard spoken, though it was only a few times, for obvious reasons.

Oh, Arabic and Italian are nice too.

To me Ukrainian sounds better than Russian.

Get a load of the German and Russian fans telling each other their language sucks! Sorry, guys, but the clear winner for worst language is Dutch and its variants. And when a Flemish-speaking person opens his mouth, even the Dutch are dumbstruck (except for the ones that go running for a paramedic).

The most beautiful language has to be Urdu. If you've ever seen a Bollywood film - this is the language they're using, although they still pretend it's Hindi with loanwords. It's very poetic and musical, with just the right blending of Persian and Sanskrit heritage.

I've never heard anyone in Ireland refer to the Irish language as "gaelic." It's known as "Irish" (in English) or "Gaeilge" (as Gaeilge). Link.
Gaelic more correctly defines a group of languages including Irish, Scots, Manx and Welsh, prolly others too.

To my ear, any language can sound beautiful so long as they aren't shouting at you.

edit: Also, as a non-Irish speaker, I fail to see why other non-Irish speakers should find it any easier on the ear than other languages.

Arabic, imo, is the most beautiful language - very fluent and poetic, second from sound is french.
I dislike Italian for some personal reasons - you want to get a nice cup of coffe and read a newspaper and have a relaxing time in a viennese café and are disturbed by a very noisy group of Italian tourists on the table next to you (happens frequently). I also went to Crete several years ago and ironically the hotel was full of Italians. Seriously- they just can´t stop talking and their noise level increases exponentionally with the size of the group

Arabic is very beautiful in theory... It's like French. You think it's a beautiful language - until you hear it spoken by the French.
