There has already been a thread about evil men but who of these evil men killed the most? I am asking for the official record because we all know there were many uncounted ones. thnxs in advance.
EDIT: Leaders.

Are we talking soldiers, murderers or despotic leaders here ?

probaly say Hitler, about 40 million would say so too if they were alive

I'm sure it was Hitler

Hitler killed 11 million in the Holocaust and killed millions others fighting in WW2.

It's a pointless question. Do you count deaths caused by starvation/disease in the disruption of war? Do you make allowances for the fact that in the 20th century there are many times more people available to be killed? Do you weight the deaths of civilians higher than the deaths of soldiers? Can you ever attribute all the dead in one war to a single man?

If I had to pick a suspect, on a pro rata basis I'd go for Francisco Solano Lopez of Paraguay. He didn't kill the most on a worldwide basis, but in terms of overall percentage of his population (not including starvation/plague) he takes some beating.

I would guess Stalin might be more than Hitler bodycount wise.

Just a guess.

But I don't think number of deaths is really a good evilness gauge.

George Washington may have been the man who started most wars. I think he had a 100% success rate for waging war on every other nation he learned the name of ;)

It could be agrued Charles I of England because he argubly started the English civil war which killed a higher percentage of people in Britain then any other war in British history.

I would say, at least recent enough to get a slight count, Stalin killed many times as many people as Hitler. There was a History Channel show about him that talked about his nasty habit of going to the ballet, then returning home to sign thousands of names to kill. It sounds almost fictional, but he just wrote names down, sometimes not even satisfied with the number of names and writing for several thousand random people to be killed. We Americans were responsible for the most successful genocide in history, however. That against the Native Americans.

Don't forget the devestating slave trade.

Indirectly, I'd think Columbus wins for nearly purging the Earth of an entire race. But directly, well, who can say?

And no one mention Genghis Kahn?? wiping out cities of it's population from Asia to eastern europe?

I don't even think Mao is evil enough to be considered.

No you weren't. Compare it against the fate of the Tasmanian aborigines- they were totally wiped out.

If we stick to people done to death outside of actual warzones, Stalin or Mao has the be the winner by absolute numbers.
Yeah, but I'm not sure if the 20 million that starved from the failure of the Great Leap forward should actually count. Granted, it was his fault, but it wasn't outright killing like that of Stalin, Hitler, or Pol Pot.

There were quite a few warmongers in that episode

It leaves me with mixed feelings over Cromwell. Was he a visionary trying to do good, or a bloodthirsty warmonger?

Maybe I'm wrong on this, but I think the aborigines were only one culture of people. Native Americans aren't just Cherokee or Iroquois. We at least decimated every tribe, every culture in North America. (Leaving South America for Spaniards). If you go out far enough west in the US, you may find a "settlement" of Indians, but anywhere else and people celebrate if they're 1/16th Native American. Aborigines exist to some detail, don't they? I don't specifically know about them.
