Oh, how a century can make a difference in the outlook of humanity. On January 30th, 1933, the recently sworn in Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler, marked the climax of the fears and desperation of the Great Depression. The world would soon be plunged into the largest industrial conflict in human history, along with experiencing one of the most horrifying genocides ever. Even once Hitler was deposed, the Earth stood still as the threat of nuclear armageddon punctuated the eternal conflict of the two most powerful empires to ever stand.

Yet, now, exactly 100 years later, humanity is on its brightest moment yet. Despite major conflicts in the late 2010s and early 2020s, science has multiplied exponentially with the discovery of Siberium in 2021. This purple crystal's innate properties, especially its strong magnetic field and the ability to ionize dramatically under extreme heat and pressure, led to a bull market of new innovations. Never before since the Industrial Revolution has humanity developed as quickly as it has now, and the idealistic view of the 1990s have returned to most of the developed world.

Getting there, however, was not easy. The first major development of the modern age was in 2014, when the People's Republic of China, once considered the rising superpower, suffered a sudden and dramatic economic crash far greater than the United State's crash in 2007. The once-massive Chinese economy withered away as the environmental costs and, more importantly, the cost of the Chinese will, became too much for the developing nation. As the CPC fought desperately to keep their totalitarian power in line by brutally suppressing dissent of the masses. Internal division within the party itself, however. led to the formation of the Mao's Legacy Party, a neo-Maoist party that rejected the state capitalism that developed following the death of their namesake idol.

Thusly, in 2015 the Second Chinese Civil War started between the CPC and the MLP. Lasting for three years, the political tensions in Asia, once kept in check by Pax Sinicia, exploded. Japan quickly solidified its control of the Senkaku Islands, and both Tibet and Hong Kong quickly declared independence as soon as fighting started (and still are independent in 2033). However, the most significant event came in 2017, where an allyless North Korea soon found itself invaded by South Korea, supported by the increasingly-focused-on-the-Pacific USA. In a short six months, the North Korean government was deposed, and South Korea became Korea.

In 2018, the MLP reigned supreme, and took control of the now-fractured China. With the nation in ruins, the dream of a Chinese century was destroyed. The new regime became quickly isolationist and focused on rebuilding China. Dubbed "The Sleeping Dragon", the now truly communist China may soon rise in the near future, but for now has yet to do much on the international scale. However, the victory of the MLP was quickly overshadowed by even bigger news; the United Kingdom left the European Union entirely.

The voluntary withdrawal of the United Kingdom surprisingly led to an increase, not a decrease, of the EU's power as the main opponent to centralization left. Denmark soon adopted the Euro forcefully, and Iceland's accession into the EU in 2020 led to aggressive claiming of a joint EU claim into the North Sea's oil, to the protests of the UK and Norway. Finally, the foundations of a unified European Army was set in 2021, only a few months before the discovery of Siberium.

Siberium was discovered by a land surveying team in June of 2021, who noted its odd chemical properties. As stated above, it is extremely magnetic, and while its first ionization energy is normal, its second and higher ionization energy is dramatically lower than it should be. Siberium is also hypothesized to be radioactive, although its half life is currently unknown. These three properties allow it to be an amazing source of fuel of lots of technology, perhaps the second most dramatic being the first practical laser rifle, the AK-27, in 2027.

However, the Siberium Revolution, as it is now known, would be marked by the first most dramatic revelation in 2024. Russia, now rising behind only America in terms of technological development, also became rich selling the element. Siberium to this day has only been found in Russia, making it one of the most important nations. One result of this new found power was Russia trying to reclaim lost land. In late 2022, a crisis happened in Belarus, which by then became an outright presidential dictatorship controlled by Moscow, as protesters flocked the streets to demand democracy and to join a proposed union of Poland. When peaceful protests turned into outright insurrection after demonstrators were massacred in Minsk, the Belarus government invited the Russian Army to intervene, in which they did.

The EU activated the newly formed European Army for the first time and also sent a peacekeeping force into Belarus in early 2023. However, they were there not to support the government, but in fact came to support the rebels. As the Europeans moved it, one overzealous Italian commander, mistakenly took a Russian outpost as Belorussian, and attacked it. Russia, seeing as the intervention force attacked them directly, declared war on the European Union and its member states.

NATO, of course, would obligate that all its members would join in to protect its members. Namely, Canada and America were supposed to be obligated to join the war. However, still remembering the harsh realities of the recently ended Afghanistan conflict, along with Iraq and Vietnam, there was no willingness from the American public to go to war. Despite the best efforts by politicians to get their constituents on the war path, the public would not budge. Fearing riots if the war was to happen, America backed out of their treaty obligations; Canada followed suit.

This betrayal permanently hurt America's relations in Europe, but at first seemed to not seriously effect the war effort. The European Army managed to push forward in the first few months of the conflict, managing to get in Russia itself. In late spring of 2024, however, Russia pulled out its secret weapon. Despite being a warm, clear day, as the Europeans approached the city of Yaroslavl, within Russian territory. As they came dangerously close to the city, a massive blizzard randomly blew in, catching the European army off guard. Then, the Russians, in winter clothes, descended on the shivering Europeans, slaughtering them. Leading the Russian assault was a masked woman in a white and light blue costume, who, by a testimony of a European soldier, "attacked us by creating icicles and using the cold and ice against us".

The war quickly shifted to the Russian's favor after that. There were reports of this woman, dubbed "the Snow Queen", leading Russian troops in battle in Latvia, Belarus, and invaded Ukraine, although no battle had the dramatic blizzard as in Yaroslavl. When Russia threatened to reach Poland and Estonia, the EU and Russia reached a peace agreement. With the exception of Estonia, which managed to remain Russian-free the entire way, the European Union would accept Russian hegemony over Eastern Europe. Ukraine and Belarus were outright annexed by the victorious Russian Federation, which demonstrated strength that even America did not have. With some way found to weaponize Siberium, Russia had once again become a superpower.

Three years later, with the threat of an angry Russia and the failures of the "Siberium War" blamed on the division of Europe against the unified front of Russia, in 2027 the European Parliament passed the founding of the European United Republic, commonly known as EUR. With the exception of the UK, Switzerland, Norway, the Vatican, and the Balkans except for Greece (Bulgaria and Romania are still independent, and the rest of the Balkans sans Greece have been annexed by Serbia, reforming Yugoslavia), and the land that Russia annexed (Belarus, Ukraine, and the Baltics except for Estonia), the EUR controlled all of Europe.

The year is now 2033, peace has returned to the Earth. Russia is cemented as the main superpower of this century. However, Russia is currently embroiled in a war in Kazakhstan, hoping to reannex them like they did to its European territories. Following them is the EUR, which has grown more powerful since true unification, and serves as the new main foe of Russia. Across the Atlantic, the United States is decaying; the decadence the nation accumulated since the end of the Cold War has hit them hard in the last two decades. Whether or not America remains relevant in terms of a superpower remains to be seen. In fourth places lies lonely China, humbled since its position as second in the 2000s. Remaining as isolationist and communist as it was after the Second Civil War, it remains unseen what they will do on the international stage at this point.

Great Britain, however, is not in a great position. The European Republic even today desires British shares of the North Sea oil. Meanwhile, America, with most of its influence in Europe gone, looks at its special relationship with Britain as its last hope in maintaining any power there. To make matters only worse for John Bull, neither superpower wants to see the other succed to become friendly with London, and are willing to fight an almost proxy war in the shadows to remain on top.

However, not all is lost. Ever since the Siberium War, individuals similar to the Snow Queen have popped up within cities across America, Europe, and Russia. Using the new Siberium technology to empower themselves with abilities far beyond any human, they serve to protect the communities they are in from powerful, rouge criminals who also empowered themselves with the purple crystal. In the small city of Danelaw, situated only a few miles away north of London itself, there has been reports of sightings of the first super powered individuals in Britain. They, however, remain unconfirmed.

Hello and welcome to The New Age (TNA), the first ever AC to combine the popular Superhero AC with the world of Science Fiction. I'm your host, Omega, and hopefully we won't do as badly as my previous failures. Before I continue, I want to get some disclaimers out of the way. Because of the fact that there are superheroes running around, and also because I want my players to have fun making their characters, I will fully admit this is more on the fiction side of science fiction. My history even before Siberium introduced is a tad extreme to hammer this point home. So, please, if there is an issue of how the science works, relax and say the MST3K mantra. :p

Also, as always, I want to keep this AC serious. This is a superhero AC, so I do understand that some silliness is part of the genre. I am ok with this, and in fact welcome this. However, while theoretically if I could do something like the Nolanverse in terms of its seriousness, I would like to do that. However, I will keep my expectations in check and just demand Marvel Film Universe seriousness. So, if you're making a character and you're wondering if it may be too campy, just ask yourself if it would make sense in The Avengers. If so, you're most likely fine even without asking. If it would be too silly for that movie, ask anyways. The only thing I can do is say no.

As for future technology, just ask if what you want exists or not. I'm always looking for new ideas to develop the world, and by you asking questions such as that, I as a mod can better refine this universe, which is good for all parties. As of now, I can confirm laser weapon technology exists, and also levitation devices that use Siberium to levitate off the ground and move in the air. On the other hand, I can also confirm that, while our electronic media have much better graphics, full on VR like the holodecks in Star Trek do not exist at this point. Other than that, do ask.

Now, the character sheet!

Now, for explanations!

Name: What is your character's name?
Alias: What is the name of your character's alter-ego as a superhero?
Sex: Are you a boy or girl?
Nationality: What country are you from? If you're from the European Republic, please specify sub-nationality :p
Appearance: What does your character look like, in terms of physical features and also what their costume looks like

Stats: As you can see, I deviated from the traditional stats used in ACs, and instead used the stats from Project Nexus. I liked those statbock the most because each stat was more clearly defined than they are in the standard AC statblock.

You start with 5 points in each stat, and 14 additional stat points to invest at your leisure. You can remove one of your starting 5 points in any one of your stats to raise another stat, but do not you can not go above 10 without feats.

STR: Strength. Is like STR from other games in that is measures how physically strong your character is. Increases damage of physical attacks
DEX: Dexterity. Measures how fast and agile your character is, plus melee dodge and to hit. Does NOT affect ranged combat in any way
TAC: Tactics. This is like Intelligence and Wisdom in that it measures how smart your character is. However, this stat is divorced from how smart your character is outside of the battlefield; a genius who doesn't know what he's doing in a fight would have low TAC, and an idiot who is a master of war would have high TAC. Also increases ranged damage rate
END: Endurance. Think of this really as a renamed Constitution. Reflects how well you can take damage and how much you can work your body without damaging it
LEA: Leadership. Much like TAC, Leadership is a reworked Charisma that is unrelated to how physically attractive your character is. LEA is only affected by your ability to bluff, charm, and intimidate other characters. An attractive character who fails at being convincing would have low LEA, and vice versa
AWR: Awareness. Represents how quick thinking your character is. Having Awareness effects ranged hit chance and both attack and defense of mental attacks

Level: Start at level 1. To get to Level 2, get 1000 XP. 3 requires 2000, 4 requires 3000, 5 requires 5000, etc, etc. Each level gives you +5 HP. Odd levels (excepting level 1) give you a new feat. Even give you one new stat point.
HP: Base HP is 10. Get 1 HP for ever 2 END points. Other sources of HP are listed where appropriate
XP: Your XP totals

Feat: You start with four feets, and gain one every other level starting at 3. A list of feats are below. Note a feat can only be taken once unless noted otherwise

Spoiler :
Super Strength: +2STR

The Orator: +2LEA
Clever Boy/Girl: +2AWR
Training Montage: +1 any attribute, can be taken multiple times
Phleb. Projectile: Obtain one projectile of your description
Phleb. Barrier: Obtain one shield or barrier of your description
Determinatior: +2 HP per END (Replaces regular END bonus)
Unnoticeable: Bonus to stealth
Flight: Ability to fly
Invisibility: Ability to be invisible
Training from Hell: Bonus to melee
Eagle Eyes: Ability to notice small details more readily (Renamed Hyper Awareness to prevent confusion with AWR)
Sig. Sense: Ability to just "know" things more readily
The Inventor: Create up to three gadgets that you would like to own, and describe how they work. I reserve the right to edit or deny any gadget for any reason
One More Toy: Create 1 more gadget. Can be taken multiple times
Custom Feat: Something you want not up there? Create your own feat, and describe what it does. Once again, I reserve the right to edit or reject any idea. Custom Feats can not be taken more than once, but you can have multiple custom feats. Also, please, /do/ make custom feats if you're on the fence. They're so much more fun as a mod and player

Bio: Your character's history. Do note that your own histories make my own world better. I only have a few set characters as of now, and your backstories will help me develop the characters I have and introduce new ones. As an added incentive, I promise 3 prequel solos for three players with completed bios. One will be selected by what I think is the best bio, one for what I think would lead to the most interesting solo, and then one the players vote for by whatever standards you guys have. If 1 and 2 end up being the same, I'll RNG one rather than just have 2 solos.

With that, I feel like I said all I can say about this. Have fun, and feel free to ask questions

Spoiler Friendly NPCs :

Machado, Angélica: Portuguese reporter who is in Danelaw to investigate the underground war between American and European proxy groups. Can go into trances, observing the area around herself for around 100 yards around her, even if an object would otherwise block it. Currently is wanted by whatever the employer of the Children of St. George is

Walker, Scott: Over-enthusiastic cop who is a total comic book nerd. Is existed over the prospect of being able to work with superheroes, and vowed to make sure the traditional rivarly between cops and superheroes that plauge the superpowers will not occur in Danelaw

Spoiler Neutral NPCs :

"Hawk": Former grunt of The Flock; deserted after she was left as bait for an ambush in the bank. Suspected to be poor, concerning her concern over money and her future in the brief exchange she had with the group. Is also very young; she looked to be no older than 18

Spoiler Enemy NPCs :

Cybernetic Assassin: Very little is known about him, except that he was able to assassinate the inner cabal of the Children of St. George, and is after both Scarlett and Angélica. Confirmed to be under the employment of the same person the Children were. Suspected to be Michael "Stalker" Vale.

Raven, The: At least a high ranking member of the Flock, he is a warrior who's body was devoted to fighting under the ideals of the flock. His entire lower second of his body was amputated, and replaced with a jet engine. His hands are also replaced with dual M249s, and is covered by wires to support his body. Is very goal oriented, and is willing to sacrifice members of his gang with no emotional distraught

Spoiler Organizations :

Children of St. George: A former gang of skinheads that operated out of a movie theater. Were British nationalists that hated foreigners and is implied to have dealt with selling drugs in the city. Suspected of being funded by Uncle Sam by Machado. Destroyed by the actions of the Cybernetic Assassin

The Flock: A group of black clothed, bird mask wearing thugs that seemingly embrace cybernetics and attempt to hide the identities of their members. Little is known about them except for their need to steal from a major bank, and a strict Avian theme. Known members include The Raven, and Hawk used to be part of The Flock

Name: Amy Valdez
Alias: Slipstream
Sex: Female
Age: 22
Nationality: American
Appearance: Hispanic, with deeply tanned skin and long black hair. Out of costume, she wears mostly no makeup, yet she is still rather attractive. When she tries, however, Amy is strikingly beautiful. In costume, she wears a standard getup of red tights, a black latex top and a small mask which covers he eyes.
Stats:
STR: 10
DEX: 12
TAC: 5
END: 10
LEA: 3
AWR: 6

Level: 1
HP: 15
XP: 0

Feat: Superspeed: An obvious choice for someone who literally has superspeed.
Feat: Time Slowing: By slowing down time, more can be accomplished in a shorter amount of time, ultimately giving Slipstream +1 actions.
Feat: Training From Hell: Training in karate has helped Slipstream become a masterful fighter.
Feat: Healing Hands: She is a medical student, after all.
Bio: Her family was what one would see on a postcard. Two sons, a daughter, a dog, a mom and a dad. But everything changed when the European Union attacked. As a member of the UN peacekeeping force, Amy's dad was already working in Belarus to quell the rebellion. While he survived, he sustained heavy injuries from chemical weapons used in the area, and was infirm for the rest of his life.

Because of this, Amy took up medicine as a study, hoping to help others and, perhaps, her father. While studying abroad in Britain, she spilled a chemical mixture of Iodine and some newly-discovered Siberium onto her, even as the power in the building shorted out. When she awoke, she found everything happening in slow motion. Not by too much, but just enough to annoy.

Amy tried to live with it, continuing her work in medicine, but when a bank was robbed nearby, she sped over and helped take down the robbers. While there, her perception slowed even more during the fight, and she even managed to dodge a number of bullets.

Still, an insanely clever villainous figure who named himself the Answer and dealt mostly in mind-boggling cruelty and insane gambits (none of his henchmen made it out alive, and the Answer was the only one to take a life that day) fought her in battle, and the outcome is one she refuses to divulge (OOC: decided in solo, if one is had). All that is known is the Answer is once again at large and a menace to London and the world.

Soon, she was a respected hero in the community, a figure of incorruptible good.

Name: Scarlett Lament
Alias: Requiem
Gender: Female
Age: Ten years old, but biologically 14
Nationality: Irish (EUR)
Appearance: Scarlett is of normal size for a human child, leaving her significantly shorter than most adults. She has green eyes, and the bright red hair that inspired her name. Her costume is almost completely black, save for a red spiral on her chest.

Stats:
STR: 6
DEX: 12

Feats:

Super Speed - Scarlett's alterations have resulted in her being unnaturally fast.
Significant Sense - Scarlett has an uncanny instinct for what is happening around her.
Matter Sense - Scarlett is aware of the matter around her, being able to determine what is where with only her mind.
Telekenesis - Scarlett's abilities with matter extend to being able to lift and move some objects around without so much as touching them.

Bio: Subject RP-14E was born in an underground facility in what was then the Republic of Ireland, the second success of an experimental cloning machine. Having spent her formative months in a tank full of Siberium solution instead of a proper womb didn't make her exactly the most normal baby, and the genetic alterations she'd undergone would also play their part in creating an extraordinary individual. The child, known affectionately as 'Scarlett' for her bright red hair, seemed grow unusually quickly, maturing approximately 30% faster than was natural.

Within the first four years of her life, it had become apparent that the procedure had succeeded beyond the researcher's wildest dreams. Not only did Scarlett betray an abnormally keen intellect, unnaturally fast reactions, and an uncanny ability to locate people and objects, but also slowly developing telekinetic abilities. Where they had failed, was in raising her. Scarlett had little understanding of the world outside the facility, lacked any concept of a normal life, and had nobody to truly care for her as he grew. For all her special talents, the young girl was being driven ever further towards madness.

It was then that disaster struck the project. In the evening of early autumn 2027, the blue-caped figure of Nightwatch appeared in the facility, determined to dismantle its horrifying practices. As she rampaged through the complex, the women stumbled upon a small child, crying in fear as the complex that had been her entire world was systematically destroyed. Nightwatch pulled the weeping girl from the crumbling facility, carrying her on her shoulders into an alien world of unfiltered air and open skies.

However, that was not the end. Although Scarlett lived with Nightwatch for years, she was chased relentlessly by a mercenary known as Colossus. He succeeded in recapturing her for the new Requiem Reborn project with the help of 'Phoenix', a near-perfect copy of Scarlett, however, he was forced underground by Nightwatch and the three remained hidden for a month whilst Scarlett's adopted-parent-figure annihilated the new project. Although eventually Scarlett was rescued, her pursuers never gave up the chase, and follow her even to this day...

Spoiler Notable Figures :
Identity: Avenger (RP-12E, Howard)
Information: The first success of the Requiem Project, Howard is in some ways a mirror version of Scarlett. Having aged at almost three times the normal rate, he is approaching his biological thirties after a mere decade of life. Howard suffered Psychological problems even worse than Scarlett, and was removed from the facility months before it was destroyed. Now he seeks some form of vengeance on those responsible for his torment, including Scarlett as the physical manifestation of the researchers goals. Although he has only mild sensory enhancements and no overt powers, his fanatical devotion to the destruction of all traces of the Requiem project is terrifying to behold, and he will use any means he can get his hands on to see his missions completion.

Identity: Dr. Z (Codename Unknown, Real Name Unknown)
Information: The head of the Requiem Projects team of researchers, Z escaped from the collapse of the original facility desperate to restore his work. He set up a second compound with the data he could salvage, and began attempting to recreate his success. The result was 'Phoenix', a clone using the same template as Scarlett, and who he sent out to assist the mercenary he had hired to pursue Scarlett. Although the Reborn Requiem was destroyed before he could succeed in recovering his masterpiece, Z escaped once again, and is still at large.

Identity: Phoenix (RR-02F, Gloria)
Information: The result of the short-lived Reborn Requiem Project, Phoenix is a faster-ageing version of Scarlett. Although only three years of age, she is biologically approaching the maturity of a twelve year old. Having suffered even worse problems adopting to life than Scarlett, Phoenix was sent out to assist Colossus in capturing Scarlett, and surprisingly succeeded in doing so. During the month spent together, Scarlett and Phoenix struck up an odd friendship, with Scarlett acting almost as an older sister to the troubled girl despite their antagonistic circumstances. During Scarlett's rescue, Phoenix informed her that someday they would meet again, but has not been seen since.

Identity: Colossus (Real Name Unknown)
Information: A towering hulk of a mercenary, Colossus was sent after Scarlett to recover her when Z set up the Reborn Requiem. Colossus tends to solve problems with a brute force approach, carrying a large number of guns, and relying on his sheer size and strength to win melee battles. However, when not fighting he is surprisingly good at hiding, using his experience and network of contacts to keep a low profile whilst stalking the target of his contract. Colossus captured Scarlett on one occasion with the help of Phoenix, and has attempted to repeat this feat on several occasions since with no success. Colossus has maintained a strictly professional manner, although during his period as a Scarlett's captor showed himself to be unexpectedly warm, almost to the point of being friendly.

Identity:Unknown
Information: Somebody with an unbelievably large pool of resources has been pursuing Requiem and Nightwatch for some time now. Nightwatch believes them to be the backer of the Requiem Projects, but neither of the pair have ever encountered anything more than evidence of their actions.

Bio:
Spoiler :
Felix was born in Austria to a relatively well-off family. As his mother was an Austrian physicist and his father was a Jewish-American college professor, he grew up with a great love of science and physics. However, when he was five years old, he collapsed suddenly and was rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that he suffered from a rare genetic defect afflicting his heart. The most optimistic guesses gave him about a few years of life left. Felix would struggle with the condition for most of his childhood, and somehow managed to survive far longer than the doctors expected. Driven to succeed by his shortened lifespan, the shy and reclusive Felix graduated early in 2027 and began studying at the University of Innsbruck. Less than a year into his career, he was contacted by officials from the newly formed European Republic for an important top-secret assignment.

In the closing days of the Siberium Wars, German special agents had managed to steal a large supply of Russian Siberium. Any plans involving the Siberium were abandoned following the agreement that ended the war, and the precious mineral was somehow hidden away in a government warehouse without a second thought. When the EUR was formed, many top secret files of the European states were released to the EUR government, including a report on the Siberium hidden in a secret warehouse under Munich. The material was quickly seized, and the EUR commissioned the state-sponsored research institution Dalton Tech to research the cache. Dalton Tech quickly gathered a team of scientists to study and find new uses for the material, including one of the youngest and most prominent physicists in modern history, Felix Hayes.

Felix first began studying the effects of Siberium on holograms before his conditioned began to progress again, leaving him in a coma for a few days. Recovering, but barely able to walk, Felix continued his work and made an incredible breakthrough. He reported that Siberium could harden 3D light projections to an incredibly high durability. Siberium alone wasn't enough though. To help the projections manifest correctly, a precise amount of additional chemicals and materials were needed. All of which, oddly enough, were found at the correct amounts within a human body. However, maintaining the constructs were too difficult for an average human body to handle, as it put far too much strain on the circulatory system. His death approaching like an avalanche, Felix realized that it would not be enough to implant a battery to power the constructs. He would need to make a new, stronger heart that could let the user maintain the construct without injury. In record time, Felix managed to create an artificial heart made of lead and plastic, powered by Siberium. He then volunteered a subject for the first transplant: himself. Dalton Tech conceded, since the alternative would be to lose their prized scientist. After a grueling surgery, during which Felix needed to stay conscious to give instructions to the doctors performing the transplant, the operation was a success.

Felix had expected the Siberium heart to simply maintain the constructs, but the heart had other affects as well. Over the next few weeks, Felix began feeling much stronger and agile, he became much more friendly and outgoing, and his next physical revealed that he was in much better shape than some of their best soldiers, outside of an odd coloring in his eyes. Incredibly pleased with the results of the transplant, Dalton Tech allowed Felix to finish the prototype and informed the EUR to start preparing the construct kit for mass production. However, things turned sour for Dalton Tech when a secret facility was discovered performing inhumane tests with Siberium. Horrified, EUR cancelled the contract with Dalton Tech, and Felix was sent back to Innsbruck, taking his Siberium-powered heart and construct generator with him.

He returned home to find that his hometown was being terrorized by a large man in a metal suit with a single black circular lens for a face. Calling himself Polyphemus, the self-proclaimed super-criminal was poised to unleash a wave of crime and destruction upon the city. Driven to stop the madman, Felix donned his construct generator along with a disguise and began a war against Polyphemus and the criminal elements that took up residence in the city. Refining his costume over the years, Felix took the name Byzantium and took up the responsibility of a superhero. Tracking his monocular nemesis to London, Byzantium finds himself in the scenic town of Danelaw, where he just might meet some new friends...

Notable Enemies:

Spoiler :
Polyphemus: A common thug gifted with a powerful robot exoskeleton by person or persons unknown. Able to channel and direct a beam of powerful yellow energy through the single large eye on his head. Rarely has any higher aspirations besides money and the chance to defeat "that pansy in the purple armor." Nevertheless, a very dangerous opponent.

Victor Hochberg: Billionaire hotel magnate looking to break into the Siberium industry. One of the chief investors in Dalton Tech before their falling out with the EUR. No superpowers, but is a brilliant tactician. Supposedly using his money to constantly spring supervillains from jail, putting him at odds with Byzantium. Subject to troubling rumors of anti-Semitism and fascist sympathies. Byzantium's not a fan.

Rapunzel: A bizarre woman with the power to control her golden, impressively long hair. Possibly related to an intern that fawned over Felix when he was working at Dalton Tech, or may even be the same person. Warm, cheery, but obsessive and psychopathic. Claims to be madly in love with Byzantium, and wants nothing more than to have her way with him and slaughter anyone else who says otherwise.

Scarface: Renowned assassin and thug in the criminal underworld. Doesn't speak, but wears a misshapen leathery mask covered in stitches with only two eye-holes. Classy guy. Wields a wide variety of weapons and gadgets, with the intent of overwhelming his enemy. His preferred weapon is a six-barreled grenade launcher and an axe for getting up close and personal.

Fox: A master thief with the features of an anthropomorphic fox. Prefers to steal from the wealthy, referring to his work as "aggressive redistribution". Possesses superhuman speed and agility, and has escaped from the clutches of the police no less than seventy two times. Considers Byzantium an honorable opponent and has even served as an ally when it best suited him. Partial to fencing, but is a decent shot with semiautomatics.

Rocket Raskova: Feminine android with a blind devotion to communism. Able to fly at high speeds via rocket propulsion and carries a sizeable arsenal of various types of missiles. Mostly targets banks and foreign offices in her goal to wipe out the "Capitalist pigs." AI appears to be damaged beyond repair, convinced that the year is 1983 and is carrying out a mission to wipe out Western forces in Central Europe. Appears to be powered by a modern Siberium generator, but certain design aspects date back to at leas the late 1970's.

Bio
Spoiler :
Mike was always a guy who was willing to embrace darkness. After an accidental siberium exposure at the London chemistry lab where he worked, however, he found that the darkness was willing to embrace him as well, enabling him to become a literal shadow. At first, he figured invisibility would be more useful for committing crimes than stopping them, but his conscience got the better of him, and he returned the few items he had stolen, becoming a full-time hero. Eventually, more practice with his powers gave him the ability to manipulate shadows and create objects of physical darkness. He's foiled several assaults and bank robberies, but is still considered somewhat small-time among the superhero community

Bio:
Spoiler :
Ever since he was born, Aaron has had a bit of a weight problem; he was the fattest baby of his year, being 20 pounds at birth. Obesity runs in Aaron's family, you see, and as he aged- even though he maintained an incredibly active lifestyle- he continued packing on the pounds. He never let this get him down, though, and his weight, combined with his cheerful attitude, caused his friends & family to dub him 'Big Fun.'

His life would be permanently changed, however, during a family vacation to the vast Siberian tundra (they have strange tastes). Stumbling upon a cave full of mysterious purple crystals, Aaron- at this time still too young to truly appreciate caution- nonchalantly explored it with no regard for the potential consequences. Day after day, he returned to the cave full of Siberium, being exposed to critical levels of the mysterious element's strange energies.

Shortly after the family returned from Siberia, Aaron's skin started to turn a deep red; his family, being none too intelligent, dismissed this as simple sunburn. Even when the condition persisted for weeks, months, they refused to budge on from this position. The Siberium also had an effect upon Aaron's weight; he was already hefty, but after returning from Russia, his mass began increasing at an ever-accelerating rate. His normally oblivious family was forced to take action, & contacted a doctor about his weight gain, but when the tests came back, they were astonished to find that not only had Aaron not developed any new weight-related health problems, but his old ones had vanished, and he was, in fact, healthier than the doctor. The doctors also found nothing wrong with his skin; the family, forced to concede that it was not sunburn, but at the same time, not harmful & not going away, purchased holograms that Aaron could use to disguise his unnatural hue.

When Aaron entered puberty, in addition to the normal changes experienced by adolescence, he found that his layers & layers of fat were providing him with extra protection. Most hits just bounced right off, and those that didn't still caused negligible damage at worst. He joined the football team, where his ability to tank anything the opposing team could throw at him & dish it right back led his team to victory time & time again. His interest in football developed into an interest in the finer points of sports strategy, which in turn blossomed into a deep fascination with strategy & tactics.

After Aaron graduated from high school, he received a full scholarship to the University of Westminster. Bidding his inattentive but loving family adieu, he left home for college, and his first semester went swimmingly well. During winter break, however, while walking the streets of his new city, he came across a group of thugs attacking a lone female. Unwilling to stand there & do nothing as they violated her, he charged in; the thugs fists & knives could not penetrate his rotund bulk, & years of athletics had honed his muscles into great & glorious weapons.

After driving off the thugs, Aaron considered his options. He still wanted to continue his education, but crime wasn't at all uncommon in the city, and he didn't want anyone to suffer the way the thug's victim had. Recalling the tales of superheroes he had enjoyed in his youth, and noticing that other people with strange abilities were emerging the world over, he decided to devote himself to fighting crime. Adopting his old nickname as an alias, Aaron now patrols his city streets, protecting the innocent & generally having a good time.

Horrified, Rose managed to free the current test subject and destroy the compound, fleeing with her newfound charge before the scattered managers of the facility could organize a search. Now, years and adventures later, Rose has returned to Danelaw to cleanse her city and save it from the evil that is destroying everything she cherished. She is ideally placed to face down crime, as a rich young woman and as a crimefighter.

ROGUES GALLERY:

Spoiler :
Name: Primeval
Powers: Fear based. Normal. Has grenades that release toxins that drive the victim into a world of their own fears.
Description: A man or woman in a full body suit and gas mask with gas grenades and an electrified stun stick.
Previous Encounters: Primeval was potentially one of the scientists at the Siberium Facility, but either way, Rose once stopped him/her from unleashing a torrent of fear and chaos gasses into the Hong Kong subway system, which would have destabilized the nation overnight. He was temporarily incarcerated before bribing his/her way out of prison, and is now on the loose somewhere.

Name: Stalker, AKA Michael Vale
Powers: Martial arts, ninjutsu, several advanced gadgets. Normal, except perhaps supernaturally heightened senses from cybernetic implants.
Description: Stalker is a man only around Rose’s height, and was a fellow student with her. Knows her true identity, but is a man of his word and once swore never to reveal the name of a fellow student. Stalker is a contract killer of the highest order.
Previous Encounters: Stalker once came after Rose in an effort to retrieve or kill Scarlett, working for the Siberium facility. He was defeated in a battle on the Golden Gate bridge. Later, Rose prevented him from assassinating the newly-elected President of the United States, though she did not turn him over to the authorities due to a long-ago vow when they were lovers in training together. Scarlett has no idea why Rose and Michael have their little love-hate dance. If any one villain is Rose’s archenemy, it’s Stalker.

Name: Marauder
Powers: Marauder has superhuman strength and resilience, but is slow and stupid. His schemes typically revolve around wrecking things because he likes to wreck things and break people. Almost always has another backer manipulating him.
Description: A nine foot tall green skinned monster. Fangs and claws. Runs on all fours and can smell better than most people can see.
Previous Encounters: Rose has engaged Marauder four times. Once in Moscow, once in Tokyo, and twice in Honolulu. Every time, he was delivered to the town seeking Siberium, his favorite delicacy(and never finding it) because someone unknown to Rose told him he might find it there. Every time, Rose was able to outsmart and outmaneuver Marauder with Scarlett’s help.

Name: Blind Bandit
Powers: Blind. Obviously. Archery themed villain. Anarchist who thinks of himself as a new Robin Hood. Lots of advanced arrow types and such.
Description: Tall woman with a bow. Whole head covered with a black hood. Never engages up close unless she has no choices.
Previous Encounters: Rose has only faced the Bandit once, in a battle in Aberdeen, and it was a draw. The Bandit believes anarchy is the only way to prevent tyranny from claiming the UK, and intends to enforce a “better state” on Albion by any means necessary. Bandit is the only villain Rose honestly fears, due to his stealth and sniper tactics.

Name: UNKNOWN
Powers: UNKNOWN, except for global resources
Description: UNKNOWN
Previous Encounters: Some shadowy figure has constantly manipulated assassins, including Marauder and the Blind Bandit, into Rose’s path. Whoever this man is, he’s clearly a master manipulator and rotten to the core, as he hasn’t hesitated to sacrifice sometimes hundreds of lives in an attempt to get Rose and Scarlett’s attention, let alone to kill them. If Rose ever discovers his identity, taking him down will become the most important thing in her life. She suspects whoever this is was the ultimate backer of the Siberium project she rescued Scarlett from, but has no real proof.

Never wears the same pants, but preffers army-style camouflage pants, even when going on a date or hanging with friends. Hates necklaces. Always has an empty bag of potato chips in which he hides a pistol and a silencer, just in case. Hero costume consists of merely a hooded dark-green jacket, black sunglasses, and a backpack on his back, which contains a Desert Eagle pistol, an M16 , multiple types of submachine guns, a packed Heat-seeking Rocket Launcher with six rockets , a voodoo doll and two shotguns, with enough ammunition for all. Also, two layers of bulletproof vests; it's not a hero as much as a Mercenary, a spy, a Bounty Hunter with an assortment of gadgets and human abilities.

Level: 1
HP: 12, apparently
XP: ?

Feats:

Eagle Eyes: Ability to notice small details more readily
Sig. Sense: Ability to just "know" things more readily
The Inventor: Create up to three gadgets that you would like to own, and describe how they work. I reserve the right to edit or deny any gadget for any reason
Gadget 1: Electromagnetic Identity Copier (ELICO)- a very simple device that can modify the appearance of it's owner. It simply creates a wave of electricity that makes it's owner look like someone else; good when infiltrating, spying, escaping and other stuff . It can show a perfect replica of anyone it's owner ever encountered/saw/imagined. Doesn't work well at low temperatures ( under -20 degrees Celsius)
Gadget 2: Revolving Reloader Belt (Re-Belt)- a belt that spins on a chassis mounted on it's owner, that brings ammunition from the supply kit on the owner's back and supplies it directly into the weapon; it is equipped with a small scanner that sees the kind of weapon that is used and supplies the correct ammo. It's also bullet-proof, fireproof and can inject it's owner with an array of medicines, in case he's wounded or incapacitated.
Gadget 3: Multiwristband Claw- a seemigly simple wristband that is actually a mini-supercomputer, with access to Internet, integrated radar, sensors that measure the health of the wearer, and also has a metallic claw (Wolverine-style, but without his regeneration , with anti-electrimagnetic features, for safety purposes. Not strong enough to pierce metal, and only 10 centimeters long, so it's msotly just for the show. )

Custom Feat: Meditation - Intensive training and literally years of meditation allow Alex to control himself extremely well; he can control his heartbeat rate (can also stop it for a few minutes), can breathe for longer than average underwater and also he's got amazing precision and accuracy with any kind of weapon.
(Note: feat edited. Endurance removed, underwater breathing severely lowered from 40 minutes to around 7)

Bio: Living in Romania was tough, even before the conflicts, but with the recent war.... things got worse. Nobody really knows how Romania sustained it's independence, but those who are in the "business" know it's actually because of Alex.

At first, Alex was hired as a redshirt by the EUR; a front-liner whom nobody expected to survive. Two weeks later, he took matters into his own hands: he single-handedly infiltrated a Romanian airbase, stole an attack helicopter, and raided two enemy camps before running out of fuel. Then, he disappeared. Some say he was caught by enemy intelligence agencies, others say he went into hiding, but nobody has proof of anything. All that is knows is that three years later, he popped up in Africa, ending conflicts here and there and taking out European agents who sought help from African nations. In the middle of his rampage , an European agent cowardly offered him a million dollars to not kill him... and Alex accepted. Soon, the Europeans contacted him and offered him money and forgiveness for his crimes against the EUR in exchange for the elimination of the Russian influence Alex helped building so far... and he did it.

Rising in fame (and infamy), Alex had to change his identity multiple times for his own safety, but his "expertise" was needed. He finally pledged allegiance to the EUR armies, and became their top spy. No longer working for money, but for his unknown personal goals, Alex' goal right now is destroying all Russians.

Altough he always avoided contact with the element called "Siberium", his latest infiltration mission in Siberia got him dangerously close to a large concentration of Siberium. After he returned, he started studying Siberium and it's side effects, but an experiment gone wrong (or right, from his point of view) gave him the ability to 'sense" the Siberium around him, altough it only works for high concentrations.

========

List of enemies of Alex:

1) General Kushanov - Originally Colonel Vladimir Kushanov, he was in charge of a small Russian outpost in Ukraine that got raided by Alex in his first "adventure". Kushanov survived, and encountered Alex again, while Alex infiltrated Kushanov's military facility and assasinated all officers he saw. Alex shot Kushanov four times, once in the head and three times in the shoulder. Somehow, Kushanov survived, altogh his left arm was amputated after the encounter. Kushanov swore to kill Alex, no matter what, but Alex sees him as "an amusement", while the Russian General sees Alex as his "arch-nemesis"

2) Ali Muhammad al-Karan - Nigerian weapons dealer, he supplied both the Europeans and Russians in their attempts to get African help. His big-time deal with the Russian got disrupted by Alex , when he single-handedly stormed the warehouse and blew everything up. Al-Karan hunted Alex for a while, and their last encounter ended with Alex running him over in a tank, but even so, some say he survived and is building back his gun-trade empire to fund his revenge.

3) Omega Nine - a mere computer hacker that always eluded Alex. His identity was never revealed, but Omega Nine managed to track down and locate Alex seven times, even blowing up his cover twice while he was on a mission. Alex mentions him as one of the reasons for pledging allegiance to the EUR forces. Recent back-tracking of Omega's actions show that he actually resides in the USA.

4) Pyron - A pyromanic freak who indulged himself into getting high on Siberium. Yes, you read that right. He encountered Alex five times so far. Alex always returned victorious, but with his mustache burned. Alex started to call him "my favourite barber".

5)Felix Abraham - a Russian spy who managed to infiltrate the high circles of the Europeans long before Alex got in the business. Aged 50, Felix was hard to track at first, but when Alex revealed his identity, he barely escaped alive, and his only saving grace was that he managed to shoot Alex's gadget that allowed change of identity, making Alex look like him and diverting attention from his escape. Having his 10-years cover blown by a 'rookie' , Felix became enraged at Alex and began searching for allies in hopes of cornering Alex somehow. His latest attempt involves the aforementioned Pyron. Let's just say it didn't end good and he won't have kids from now on. But his current son, Yurich, joined his cause and the father-son team now seeks to eliminate Alex , no matter the costs.

Bio: Born in the bad part of Glasgow, Walter never had a very happy childhood. His father had left the family many years ago, and he never saw much money. However, one thing that can be said about Glasgow is that there are a lot of ways to kill a man, to maim him, to torture and interrogate him. It is this, then, that leads Walter "Alexander" Fleming to know how to inflict pain, and how to survive.

this good enough?

Cived: Good enough for governmental-based work. It would be interesting to see if you could expand on the bio later, but otherwise it's fine.

Chester: I'm a little confused by the first few paragraphs in your bio. If you're implying there was a war between the EUR and Romania... there wasn't. Nor would EUR really care about the Balkans for the most part; the apathy to the region is why Serbia was able to forcefully recreate Yugoslavia. The only reason Greece is part of the EUR is because it was simply already part of the EU, plus for hegemony in the Mediterranean.

I never said it was a war against Romania. I said that Alex is Romanian and was recruited as a redshirt for the EUR army. I wanted to say something about him moving to Germany and owning a dog, but apparently it got cut while I was writing. Making up characters is brain-consuming for me.

EDIT: Also expect me to be late in chat. I know, I hate my school too.

OK, that's fine.

What's not fine, however, is that last feat. I just reread your entire character sheet, and that's way too much things to be covered by one feat. You could allow the meditation to give you the resistance (which might or might not cover the breathing underwater) or the proficiency of all weapons, but definitely not both at the same time. If you want both, take two feats, one giving the first effect and one taking the second effect.

Also, for your third gadget, the wolverine claw would be a seperate gadget compared to the rest of what the wristband does. Having a weapon come from it is very unrelated to the rest of its purposes

I'd like to join but unfortunately I probably won't be able to make the first mission.

Name: Johan D’Antraigues
Alias: Le Espion
Sex: Male
Nationality: European Republic (French)
Appearance: Usually Johan goes about disguised and rarely reveals his true face to anyone, but if they were to see it they would notice a fair haired man of average height and in fit condition. He doesn’t have a costume in the traditional sense but mostly goes about disguised as whoever it would be convenient to be at the moment. At all times Johan carries a concealed knife and fiber wire string which are his preferred weapons, additionally he would be openly wearing weapons if his current disguise warrants it.

Stats:

  • TAC: 5
  • END: 4
  • LEA: 14 (+2 from Orator)

Feats:
Invisibility – Through the use of Siberium implants that Johan stole from Russian scientists he is able to turn completely invisible for a time.

Unnoticeable – Johan’s extensive training and experience as a spy has honed his ability to go unnoticed by even the strongest of security systems.

The Man with a Thousand Faces – What makes Johan such a good spy is his ability to disguise himself as anyone he wants to be, he has mastered this ability to the point of being able to completely change his appearance in seconds

The Orator – Le Espion would have been caught and unmasked long ago if it were not for his ability to deliver an Oscar level performance that would convince anyone of his disguise’s legitimacy.

Ghost Steps - Johan's large experience as a special operative has trained him to move at normal speed when in stealth mode.

Bio:
Spoiler :
Born in France to a military family, Johan lived as quiet of a life as a French soldier could have until he was recruited into the European Army’s Special Operations Division at the onset of the Siberium War. Johan would lead many successful missions into the heart of Russian territory until during one mission his entire team was compromised by Siberium enhanced Russian agents who proceeded to massacre the cell. Johan barely escaped with his life and was stranded in Russian territory and declared dead by the EU.
Johan proceeded to get his revenge by first breaking into Russian Siberium testing labs and stealing invisibility implants as well as dossiers on the agents who were involved in the attack on his cell. Throughout the war he successfully hunted down the agents except for one which managed to evade him, the now ex-russian agent known as Void. Johan has sworn to track him down and kill him wherever he may be.

Incident File 11A
As I went out for my afternoon jog today, I heard a scream from an alley. Two thugs with assault rifles were guarding the entrance, along with a third beating the stuffing out of a woman with a lead pipe. Knowing I had an obligation to do something, I ducked behind some trash cans and quickly assembled the cheap plastic armor that passes for my costume. As it turns out, I wasn't alone. A gargantuan man who looked like somebody stuck legs on Jabba the Hutt, another guy in armor (much more high-tech than mine; must remember to ask where he got it) who could make objects out of light, and someone with what must have been some kind of electronic disguise gadget. At first, I thought he was Doppelganger, but I realized it couldn't have been; his changes took a couple of seconds, whereas Doppelganger's are instantaneous. A woman in a dark blue costume dropped into the fight about halfway through and helped us take care of the reinforcements. Things went swimmingly, right up until the disguise guy knifed the the last goon in the ribs with a big-ass blade. The woman in blue did not take kindly to that and the two of them started going at it hammer and tongs. I felt that I should join in and start pounding on the killer myself, but then I realized that if I myself can learn from my crimes, than so can he. The woman turned out to be a Portuguese reporter, and we escorted her back to her apartment. There she told us that she was looking into the group that was pummeling her, a bunch of ultranationalists known as the Order of St. George. According to her, they're being armed by Uncle Sam and using an old theatre as a base. Then, she dropped her bombshell: turns out, she's a super too, with the ability to go into trances and get full-circle vision. As we left, the disguise guy said I wasn't as big a fanatic as the woman in blue, to which I responded that life rarely gives us second chances, and it never gives thirds. If he kills again, he's going to learn the hard way why they call me Nightmare.
