The Offical IOT Mod Brainstorming and Organisation Thread

One day I shall be in this.

IOT XIV-inspired scenario

Takeshi Ruchang will crush the UN in this mod! :mwaha:

In the IOT14 mod how will the Platonics be handled? Given a aggression and philosopher bonus for Papadakis?

Yeah, I know, I said it was coming soon, but then Stuff Happened™. I'm currently sorting out some issues with my ISP but rest assured, a new package is on the way.

Desktop is ded; update delayed indefinitely.

Serves me right for suggesting I was finishing anything.

And I learned today that I am an idiot of massive proportions.

Well, I've got my desktop back with a new OS... now I just have to figure out what I can copy over. :undecide:

MEANwhile, I've mentioned before how much I hate the minimalist soundtrack in the future age, and that I was poking around for replacements... Michael Nyman's score for Man with a Movie Camera, anyone?

For the future age, I would suggest this
Can't go wrong with FTL. Unless giant alien spiders.
EDIT: Or could use some Deus Ex.

My suggestions:
UNATCO theme
Pacific rim theme?
uh... Shtar Worz theme?
Also, if Civ III's modern age music doesn't get in I will cry, mostly because it's a better representation of modern music than civ IV's modern music

...huh. Warlords brought in pretty much the entire C3C soundtrack except the modern scores. Good catch.

Mentlegent, we are back in business! All I have to do is figure out what I still have left to fix, fill out some more 'pedias, and draft a changelog. :p

Turns out most of the (pre-modern) Civ3 music is included but not implemented, plus there were errors in the paths to several scenario songs so even they were included they wouldn't play properly. So listen out for some tracks you mightn't've heard before. ;)

Good things come to those who wait!

Features:
- V1.02 (Revision 8) -

  • New terrain, by vincentz
  • Expanded city name lists for various factions, eliminated redundancies
  • Added Spam Circus UB for Formatics
  • Rebalanced Jinyiwei to better distinguish from Chu-ko-Nu
  • Covert Ops given unique unit category, "Pinch" promotion (steal enemy Espionage points); STD changed to Covert Ops replacement
  • New Units:
    • Jeep (modern era recon, fast attack but no terrain bonus)
    • Steam Frigate (interim between tall ships and destroyer)
    • Cruiser (middle ground between destroyer and battleship, minor anti-air)
    • AEGIS Cruiser (upgrade with superior anti-air)
    • Ballistic Submarine (missile carrier)
  • Carrier strength increased to reduce vulnerability to pre-modern warships
  • Battleship/Missile Cruiser strength increased and submarine combat bonuses adjusted accordingly
  • New Faction: Taillenian Socialist Republic
    • Leaders: Genghis Khan (Agg/Imp), Hannibal Barca (Fin/Chm)
    • UU: Firaxis Numidian Cavalry, Firaxis Keshik
    • UB: Firaxis Ger

  • New soundtracks for Industrial, Modern and Future Eras
  • Implemented unused Firaxis soundtracks for pre-modern eras
  • Added voicepack for Space Marine
  • Expanded diplotexts for some leaders
  • Continued standardizing XML formatting (seriously Reus, this is bad codesmanship)
  • Further Pedia and Strategy additions

New and/or bandwidth-conscious users can get an updated Core Files .RAR here, ~55 MB. It includes unit and building sounds, but no music.

I haven't done extensive playtesting of the new naval line so I'm not sure how well it balances out, and further additions will likely need an expanded tech tree simply to pace properly. I also haven't had a chance to check all the music in-game, so if volume needs to be normalized do let me know.

Aside from emergency repairs, this will probably be my last serious update until after Christmas at least, so I hope you find it worth the wait.

Originally, it was a mod in which every civ was based on an IOTer, along with redone religions and corporations to fit IOT in-jokes. Nowadays, it seems to be "throw whatever we want to throw in because why not".

Fixed, because Thor's the only person working on this.
