Yeah I just sent out an email saying it would be down for half an hour. I have the UPS installed, server will be back up in 5 minutes (probably less).

Actually power cuts weren't much of a problem in Auckland (where I was at for almost all of the 2nd game), but now I'm in Palmerston North which apparently has a less stable power grid.

Oh you were probably thinking of the ADSL outages... yeah they were a big problem in Auckland because I was very far from the Telco exchange, here my connection is much more stable, I think it's only gone down once in the three months I've been here.
how come people cant actually play with civstats beeing down?! Do you guys never check the site manually / just login? 6 people have not taken there turn, i assume this is cause of civstats beeing down and not just queeing loads of moves in the earlygame. It shouldnt be that hard to login... I have seen this happen in other games too...

It's 3 atm, and will soon be 2 as it's very rare for Dr Strangelove to miss a turn in my experience.
For games this size I've just accepted the fact that most turns won't end early.

Hey, I haven;t been able to login to my turn yet - I tried around 9 hours ago and got in, but lagged out and now I can't raise the host at all :/ Is the server still going over there?

Well I was asleep, so there's only one reasonable explanation: I fixed the server in the 'dreamtime'.

Yep, I sent out an email about it. The server isn't booting up, I'll email everyone when the server's back.

UPDATE ON THE SERVER: Still down, the hard drive is failing again apparently, it's about 6 years old so it's not surprising. I'm in the process of restoring a backup to a different hard drive to see if I have more luck with that.

UPDATE ON THE SERVER: I've managed to rule out the hard drive and RAM as causes, so I'm going to take it to a place this weekend to get fixed.
